About the Nikon MC-30

Woody Sherman

This 2.5-foot cable attaches to select Nikon cameras with a 10-pin remote port. It allows remote firing of a camera's shutter, and the trigger-lock function keeps the shutter release button depressed for longer "bulb" exposures. Perfect for night and macro photography — keep the shutter open without touching the camera body and shaking the perfect exposure.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Nikon MC-30 Remote Trigger Release can help prevent camera shake by triggering the shutter release without touching the camera. It is designed for use with Nikon cameras with the 10-pin remote terminal, including D300S, D700, and D800. It has a 32" cable.

Shooting: The MC-30 can be used for single-frame or continuous shooting, depending upon the shooting mode selected on the camera. A press-and-release action will cause the camera to take a single picture, while a press and-hold action will result in continuous shooting, if the camera is in the continuous shooting mode. If the camera is set for "bulb" exposure, or other "timed" exposures, the shutter will remain open as long as the remote trigger release is held down.

Trigger Lock: The MC-30 has a sliding trigger lock mechanism for locking the trigger in place. If you have a long timed exposure, you can lock the shutter open using the trigger-lock mechanism. Sliding the lever back to its original position will release the trigger, and close the shutter.

Compatibility: The Nikon MC-30 Remote Trigger Release is compatible with the following cameras:

  • D200
  • D3
  • D3S
  • D3X
  • D300
  • D300S
  • D4
  • D700
  • D800
