For special events... and everyday shots
The Nikon Coolpix S8200 is designed to get the shots that other cameras can't. Want to take a picture of your family enjoying a campfire on the beach? No problem. The advanced CMOS sensor is up to the job, and will give you detailed, sharp photos of their faces in the soft glowing light. Want to grab a shot of your child's first bike ride? Other cameras may have a lag time that makes you miss the shot, but the 'S8200 has high-speed continuous shooting. The camera starts right up, and can shoot around five frames a second at full resolution.
Big 3" screen and 14X zoom — in a super-slim body
The hi-res 3" LCD screen (921,000-dot display) makes it easy to frame and review your photos. You'll see exactly what you're going to get, and can make the necessary adjustments before you take your shot. Portrait mode helps you capture flattering photos of friends and family, and panorama mode stitches several shots together so you can get one shot of the whole city skyline. The 'S8200 features a 14X optical zoom, yet it still has a slim body that keeps it travel-friendly without sacrificing performance.
HD movie recording and easy playback on your HDTV
The 'S8200 also lets you record full high-definition video clips with stereo sound when you prefer to capture a moment with movies instead of photos. And when you're ready to share your pictures and videos, a mini HDMI output makes it easy to show them on your compatible HDTV (mini HDMI cable sold separately).
From baby's first steps, to that dream vacation in the islands, these cameras make it easy to capture life's greatest hits. Today's cameras have helpful automatic features, like face detection and scene recognition that make shooting more foolproof than ever. And they all have plenty of megapixels for detailed photos that stay sharp, even when you enlarge and print them.
Things I like; the simplicity of operation; the sharpness of pictures; the speed of re-use - take a pix and almost instantly the camera is ready for another shot; size vs utility(a 14X zoom yet small and light. I do a lot of hunting & fishing and this camera is perfect for that.
Overall an excellent camera.
Pros: Excellent camera. Great photos, relatively easy to use.
Cons: Choice of color is lacking (only available in black). Pop-up flash is in bad location and a bit flimsy. Logical place to put left hand (fingers) while taking photos is over the flash pop-up "window". Putting flash in front of camera or center of camera would eliminate blocking the flash from coming up and possible loss of photo opportunity.

Macro Mode: Macro mode is used for taking pictures of objects as close as 0.4". The flash may be unable to light entire subject at distances less than 1 feet 8 inches.

The subject is framed by a yellow border, allowing you to check the picture and decide whether or not to take another picture.
