Pros: Ease of use...
It's an OK fix to idea of not having wifi. It does the trick. When it's plugged in you can't do anything else. You have to hook up to the wifi signal it puts out then you don't have actual internet.
Pros: It does work.
Cons: The process is kind of a pain.
Connects all the time and great item if you like to post your pics right away
A lil bulky, but works fine.
The app should haveore functionality but for what it does it is good. You can control the shutter & view pictures from your phone or tablet
Pros: Rote control of the camera
Cons: Slow speed brown camera & app
Pros: easy to use, works very well
An inexpensive way to add features to your Nikon digital SLR. Works well with iPhone app for taking photos remotely. Convenience of being able to wirelessly upload photos right from the camera is awesome.
Pros: Easy to install on camera, plugs right in. Easy to use.
Handy gadget to accompany your camera. Easy to use.
Works as expected.
I use this with my new Nikon D3200 and it works great! The pix show up on my Android Smartphone and I just choose which ones to download to the phone. I haven't tried the remote feature yet. It was easy to set up.
Pros: easy to use and works great
Cons: none so far.
still trying to figure out how to use
Cons:Crutchfield response on June 3, 2014 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Great product! Only reason not a 5 star is because if the screen times out, you lose connection and have to go back to the camera to fix that.. not a big deal but a flaw
Pros: Great for when you want to upload fast to social sites and the famous selfie shots
Cons: Only disconnection issues I had is when the screen times out.
Outstanding... If you want your teen to get more enjoyment out of the camera..make it easy to share photos in the social networking environment, not only that...this thing also allows your phone to becomes a remote trigger to snap from a distance..its also easy to use. Outstnding service / delivery from Crutchfield. They have been around doing this a lot longer than the internet has been in existence. Count on them to be reliable, professional and courteous.
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Wish it was already incorporated into the camera since its already so small...suppose that will be the next upgrade to the camera model line.
Not true wireless "connection" only if you have an Apple or Android product does it work. Dissappointed in this product
Cons: Only works with Apple or Android
I'm not impressed with the speed in which images are downloaded. I would say it is good to download two to 5 images on the go. Pictures are downloaded one at a time. I don't think I will use it as often.
Pros: Wireless connectivity
Cons: Download speed, one picture at a time
The wi-fi did not work with my iPhone 4S the first week I had it. However, there was just a recent update and it appears the bug was fixed and all is good now. Have not had it working long enough for a full review but at least it connects!
It Take time to respond, but when connected, the adapter do the job, not excellent but it,s ok for casual use. I.m agree with others reviews, it,s not for rapidly and professional use.
I used this with my Nikon D7100 and a 50 1.4g at the park to (try) to take pics of my son and I. I set up my camera on a tripod about 10 feet away and had multiple problems with it. All I can say is you better have a lot of time and low expectations. I used a Samsung note 2 with it. When using it the wifi connection was lost multiple times before I could take the shot. When I actually got it to take a picture it lost the wifi connection maybe half of the time during the download from the camera to the phone. What's even more frustrating about this product is that every time it lost the connection and finally re-connected I had to go back into the menu to turn the live view back on. I spent way more time trying to get it working than I did taking pictures. It's like Nikon rushed to get the product to the market before fixing the problems it has. Definitely not for pro use. I can't even recommend this product for the casual user. By far the worst product I've ever used from Nikon.
Pros: You can download pics from your camera to your phone when your phone is right next to it.
Cons: Not a reliable wifi connection. Not really reliable at anything. Very limited features. Basically it sucks.
It works perfect, this what I need it when I want to take picture with my wife and there is not one around
Pros: I can use it with my Android
I bought the Nikon WU-1a wireless adapter to pair up with my Nikon D7100. I plan on using it in upcoming trips to Yellowstone and transfer images to an ipad. I haven't had the opportunity yet, but plan to do so this summer. I checked other websites and they were back ordered for 4 months for this item. Crutchfield had it in stock.
Overview: The Nikon WU-1a is a plug-in wireless mobile adapter that allows you to connect your compatible Nikon DSLR camera to your Wi-Fi-equipped smartphone, tablet, or other smart device. Through the wireless connection, you can automatically load photos and videos to your device as you take them, use your smart device to remotely take photos on the camera, or download existing pictures from the camera's memory card to your device. Once you have downloaded images to your smartphone, you can share them via email, texts, or social networking sites. The WU-1a plugs into the camera's USB/AV connection.
Wi-Fi Specification: The WU-1a is compatible with a wireless LAN operating on IEEE 802.11b/g/n. The maximum range is approximately 33-49 feet.
Wireless Mobile Adapter Utility: The Wireless Mobile Adapter Utility application, available free of charge from Google Play, must be installed on the smart device before it can be used with the WU-1a. The app is compatible with smartphones running Android 2.3, 3.x, or 4.x, and tablets with Android 3.0 or later. A free application is also available on iTunes for use with an iPhone and iPad running iOS versions 5.1 and 5.1.1.
