Features

Integrated Amplifier w/ USB Streaming: TEAC's A-H01 combines a high-quality D/A converter with a stereo amplifier to create a compact audio system for your home or office. Five inputs are available; two analog and three digital. The Burr Brown digital-to-analog converter supports high-resolution sample rates up to 192kHz/32-bit. The USB 2.0 input can be used with your Mac or Windows computer for audiophile-grade music playback of your music library.

Compact High-Performance/High-Output Amp: The TEAC A-H01 employs a B&O ICE power stereo amplifier providing 30 watts x 2 channel at 1kHz in 8 ohms (or 60 watts x 2 channel at 1kHz in 4 ohms). This highly efficient amplifier design offers high output, low power consumption, and compact dimensions.

Burr-Brown PCM5102 DAC: The TEAC A-H01 integrated amp uses a Burr Brown PCM5102 DAC for high performance and support of a wide range of digital audio sources. Its three digital inputs (optical/coaxial/USB) support sampling rates of 32, 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, and 19kHz. 16- and 24-bit rates are supported. It's ideal for playback of FLAC, WAV, Apple Lossless and other high-res file formats.

USB Type-B Port for Computer Audio Streaming: The TEAC A-H01 features a USB (type-B) port for connecting your Windows PC or Mac computer. The A-H01 accepts digital audio source material stored on your computer at up to 24-bit/192kHz. The A-H01 also supports USB asynchronous mode, which uses its precise internal clock to control timing and eliminate jitter issues. This allows optimal playback of high-resolution digital audio files from playlists/libraries in your iTunes, Windows Media Player, or similar playback programs on your computer. This unit does not offer control over your computer's music files.

Note: Before using the A-H01 with your computer, you will need to download and install the dedicate TEAC driver on your Windows PC or MAC. Supported operating systems included Windows (XP*/Vista/7/8) and Mac OS X (Snow Leopard/Lion/Mountain Lion). *Windows XP Professional x64 Edition is not supported.

Analog & Digital Inputs: The TEAC A-H01 integrated amp features both analog and digital audio inputs.

  • Dual RCA Inputs: The A-H01 offers two stereo RCA inputs (Line 1 & Line 2) for connection of your external analog audio sources.
  • Optical & Coaxial Digital Inputs: The TEAC A-H01 is fitted with optical (toslink) and coaxial (RCA) digital inputs for connection of other digital audio sources like your CD, DVD, or Blu-ray player. These digital inputs will accept two channel linear PCM (not Dolby Digital/DTS).

Binding Post Speaker Terminals: The TEAC A-H01 integrated amp features four heavy-duty, gold plated binding post terminals to connect a single pair of speakers between 4-8 ohms. The binding post terminals will accept bar wire (up to 8AWG), spade lugs, pin-connectors, and banana plugs (single or dual).

Subwoofer Output: The TEAC A-H01 is fitted with a mono subwoofer RCA output to connect a powered sub for extra bass.

1/4" Headphone Jack: A front-panel 1/4" headphone jack lets you enjoy audio late at night, in spaces with neighbors close by, or other situations where loudspeaker playback might disturb others.

Aluminum Front-Panel: The A-H01 incorporates an aluminum front panel and motor-driven volume knob.

Remote Control:  The TEAC A-H01 comes with an IR remote control for wireless operation of the integrated amplifier. You can choose sources, control volume, and select menu functions from the remote.

Fan-Less Design: To achieve both goals of high performance and compact dimensions, two parameters that conflict with efficient heat dissipation (circuit design and chassis design) emphasized the selection and effective placement of potential heat-generating components to allow this high-performance compact amplifier to operate without cooling fans.

Q
I've read that when connected to a sub and when using headphones, the sub still plays, or makes some noise. Can anyone tell me if this is true? I want to primarily use this as a headphone amp, but occasionally play through speakers and sub.

no info on that as i was using for my tv but since the remote control works poorly (if at all), the unit is back in the box and stored in the garage

When I turn on the amp, begin playing music and then plug in the headphone jack, the entire system is silent - no music or low frequency bass at all. I placed my hands on the sub after turning up the volume on the amp and still nothing - the headphone jack truly closes the music circuit.

I hooked up my Phase Technology sub to the A-H01 and played without headphones. Sound is wonderful! When I plugged in my headphones, the sub went silent - no noise or sound at all. Hope this helps.

Allen: I have the TEAC A-H01 With a set of INFINITY speakers. I also have a powered INFINITY subwoofer that I purchases from Crutchfield. When I have the subwoofer on and use headphones the subwoofer is disconnected, Disconnect the head phones and the subwoofer is active again. Hope this helps.

I don't get any sound from the external speakers with the headphones connected. Turned it up to 11 with the phones in just to be sure, no noise at all. I'm using my PC as an audio source: connected via toslink and driving Audioengine P4s with an S8 sub. Hope this helps

no, it has no "out", just the the 5 inputs

You should be able to. I use my TEAC A-H01 to bypass my computer sound card by usb cable. the TEAC A-H01 has a much better DAK. You should be able to connect speaker out on DAK to the input of your amplifier. You do need to download the driver to your computer or the DAK won't work. I suggest You contact TEAC to ask them for sure. Crutchfield would not let me include the web site. LOOK IT UP Hope this helps

I think you would be better served purchasing a DAC with a volume control built into it. The DAC in this unit feeds its internal amplifier. May want to look at Cambridge Audio dac.
david  Mar 18, 2014

Hi, Kevin - The A-H01 does not have line-out or through outputs, either digital or analog, that allow you to send the LR signals to an external amp, so it is not suitable for use as you envision. The A-H01 is an integrated, all-in-one DAC/preamp/amp intended to drive speakers by itself. If you want something to connect your computer via usb I'd suggest buying a DAC and a preamp for best results, or a "digital preamp" (which will have an integral DAC) with usb, especially if you're buying and enjoying hi-res material from HD Tracks.

Sorry, you can't use this as preamp. There is no preout. Unless you want to modify the system and loose warranty. However, built in amp is quite decent. Thanks,

Q
Has anyone used this amp with a speaker selector and 4 pairs of 8 ohm speakers? Two pairs? Most selectors prefer an amp that is stable down to 4 ohms impedance.

Michael, The amp is still pretty new for me and I am still trying different speakers to get the most from the amp. You could use this amp ,in my opinion, with 2 pairs of 8 ohm speakers but I don't think an amp with 45 watts to play with, will give you the amplitude you may want to drive more then this. It WILL WORK but the amp will run hotter and the power reserves will be lowered; using 4 pairs I think will a bit hard on this amplifier. Again all this is my feeling with the time I've had using the HO1. Good Luck! Stephen

nope. subwoofer and two infinity speakers, toslink from a tv -- works beautifully

Hey Mike... This little amp is sweat....I'm running 2 OHM Walsh towers which require 100/125 amps min. each and the sound is incredible! Even better than my Son of Monzilla amp that was pushing 400 amps which this replaces! The sound is clean and beautiful which I quite frankly never believed could happen with an amp this small. My living room is 15' by 22' and it fills the area....I couldn't be happier with the sound......good luck!........james
james m  Nov 05, 2014

No I haven't but I would think as long as your impedance matches you should be ok. You won't have the power as a 2 speaker setup.

Is there a standby mode? What is the energy usage? Wondering if I can use this as an instant on amp that I can leave on all the time without using a bunch of energy.

i can't help with these questions because the remote control turned out to be so unusable that i put the unit back in the box and i don't use it at all...

I'm not aware of standby mode on this unit while its a matter of a second to hit the on/off button located on the left. Unit starts back in just about a second.
stanislav  Oct 20, 2014

No standby mode. Equipment I use it with takes a few seconds to come to life (despite their standby settings), amp is ready to go when they are. Product manual does not brag about low energy use; I would recommend it be turned off when not in use.

I'm afraid I can't be of much help on this. We turn on ours when we need it, which is about once every couple of days for an hour or two to watch TV or movies. Also, don't know anything about the energy usage. Sorry.
jeremy  Oct 20, 2014

I am not aware of any standby mode....... Also, I don't believe this unit was design to be on 24/7..........

I have this unit, and it is either off or on, no standby as you suggest. Unfortunately the remote controls every function but power, so you have to hit the power button to turn it on or off. Otherwise, it is a terrific, compact amplifier that is great for external speakers for the TV.
