A Bluetooth- and iPhone-friendly compact receiver

Need a compact receiver to liven up your dorm room, office, or bedroom? Then check out the TEAC CR-H260i. With a built-in CD player and a host of other listening options, connect this receiver to a pair of bookshelf speakers and start discovering the many ways to get the music started. You're not limited to just discs with this versatile machine. If you have digital music files on your Bluetooth-compatible smartphone, tablet, or computer, you can stream them wirelessly to the Bluetooth-enabled CR-H260i. If you're an Apple user, you can also connect your iPod®, iPhone®, or iPad® to the front-panel USB port. Then sit back and control your music with the receiver's remote while your device charges.

More options for music

Have some USB thumb drives sitting around? Then load them up with MP3s and pop one into the CR-H260i's USB port to start listening. Or maybe you have some spare SD memory cards in a drawer somewhere. That's one more way to play digital music through this receiver, thanks to its front-panel SD card slot. Or you can always use the AM/FM tuner to dial in local radio stations, saving up to 45 presets.

There's a time for music, and a time for sleep

The built-in tuner, USB input, and CD player can all be used with the CR-H260i's timer feature. This lets you set specific times to power on and off the receiver. Use it like an alarm clock in the morning with your iPod — that'll charge your player overnight before waking you with something upbeat in the morning. Or use the sleep timer at night so you can drift off to your favorite mellow tunes without leaving the receiver running all night.

    Just what we wanted

Written By Dave, Michigan on Thursday, January 01, 2015

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Perfect for our small living room. Sounds fine. SD card slot nicely complements my car stereo, which has one also.

Pros: Compact. Easy set-up. Multiple input sources. Great price and service.

Cons: Not a lot of info on display.

    Nice Unit, One Flaw

Written By New Mexico Kid, New Mexico on Monday, December 15, 2014

Nicely designed unit, better than the last TEAC MP3/CD unit I owned. Don't like the idea that you can't display the title/folder (MP3 tag) info after you have set the unit to do so! It will NOT display subsequent titles after the first song has played.

    Pros: Nice hefty unit.

Cons: Unable to display MP3 CD/USB/SD tag info even though the instructions implies that it can!

A decent system for the money.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nor bad for the money. Has a useful remote.

Pros: USB, SD card and Blue Tooth connections. Sound is good.

Cons: Volume has to be cranked up for cds and headphones. Not so much for tuner. The instruction manual is not well thought out and needs improvement.

    nice unit

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very nice piece of equipment for the intended use. Was hesitant given the relatively low output but it drives the largest Boston bookshelf speakers easily (8 Ohms, 10-100 watts recommended input power, 95 db sensitivity). CD player is acceptable and bluetooth works well. Only complaints are that manual tuning is extremely painful (you would think that the multijog knob would work like any other tuning knob but it stops at every half khz) and the constantly blinking time (just the : separator) is annoying.

    Awesome

    Worth the sale price

Written By Roscoe, Hillsboro, OR on Thursday, July 03, 2014

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This receiver totally fit the bill for the sale price. The USB input is great so that the receiver's superior DACs can convert from digital to analog instead of using the inferior DACs in my iPhone. The Bluetooth and SD card options are also very handy; you don't find too many receivers with the SD card option.

I'm using it to power a set of Polk 5.25' bookshelves and it drives them just fine.

Pros: Smaller footprint than other stereo receivers, especially when you count the built-in CD player. USB, Bluetooth, and SC card options are great.

Cons: No resume function with CD player. Always starts back on track one after unit is powered off.

    Great mini system

Written By SteveI, Boston MA on Wednesday, May 14, 2014

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I like the unit over all. It has all the features one would want in a mini system including radio, cd player, and bluetooth. As mentioned in other reviews changing inputs is easier via the remote but not as easily accessible via the unit itself. I hooked it up to TEAC LS-H70A speakers and it sounds really good. Just what I was looking for.

Pros: Many features in single unit. Compact and solid build.

Cons: Missing a few simple touches that would make it even better like cd resume and easy function access from the head unit.

    Overall pretty good, but....

Written By Kitchen Chef, Las Cruces, NM on Friday, January 31, 2014

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Pretty good unit overall...but I find a couple of "little" things that could be improved somehow. Sound is great and this unit takes up very little space. But I find it an annoyance having to cycle through all the sources to get to the one I want. For instance, if it's set on FM, I need to continually press the source button, slowly, about 6 times (through AM, CD, SD,USB, Aux 1, Aux 2), just to get to Bluetooth. Also, sometimes one of the sources will "freeze" and I'll have to power off, then on again to (lack of a better word) "reboot". Then all is ok. For the average person, these are probably whiney excuses, but for someone like me who has this in the kitchen and busy cooking, chopping, saute'ing, etc....it's a bit of a bother. Also, takes quite a few seconds to "read" a CD, SD card, or USB source. Manual FM tuning is very slow to respond. If you're going to be busy, best to set it up the way you want it and leave it.

Pros: Great sounding unit, compact, great features, easy to use, love the Bluetooth feature

Cons: FM manual tuning is a pain, continual source button pressing to set to what you want, occasional system "freeze", slow acquisition of CD, SD and/or USB.

    Simple system that sounds great

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Teac CR-H260i is a real winner combining CD playback with Bluetooth connectivity. I have the Teac LS -H265 Bookshelf speakers hooked to it and a Polk Subwoofer. The sound is clear powerful and with great detail . Cd's sound fantastic and Bluetooth is a very close second. I'm surprised their are not more products like this with the emergence of Bluetooth. This is so much better than all those Bluetooth single speakers that are out on the market.

    Pros: Quality sound-Bluetooth connectivity

    Cons: None
