More options for music

Have some USB thumb drives sitting around? Then load them up with MP3s and pop one into the CR-H260i's USB port to start listening. Or maybe you have some spare SD memory cards in a drawer somewhere. That's one more way to play digital music through this receiver, thanks to its front-panel SD card slot. Or you can always use the AM/FM tuner to dial in local radio stations, saving up to 45 presets.

There's a time for music, and a time for sleep

The built-in tuner, USB input, and CD player can all be used with the CR-H260i's timer feature. This lets you set specific times to power on and off the receiver. Use it like an alarm clock in the morning with your iPod — that'll charge your player overnight before waking you with something upbeat in the morning. Or use the sleep timer at night so you can drift off to your favorite mellow tunes without leaving the receiver running all night.

Does anyone know if you can hook up bose speakers to this? Looking at this for a xmas present and person already has speakers just needs a new receiver. Thanks in advance!!

Yes you can. What you need to know is what the dynamic impedance of the speakers is. It is usually on the back near the speaker connections or terminals. My speakers are 4 ohms (the Greek letter Omega is the same thing.) I think the output impedance of the unit is 6 ohms. Close enough.

I would check the ohms on the Bosespeakers- crutch field customer service should be able to help.

I have no experience with Bose speakers. If the Bose speakers meet the Teac CR-H260i impedance range of 6 to 8 ohms they should work fine. As for the CR-H260i CD receiver, I am very happy with it's performance and I plan on purchasing a second unit soon.
    norman  Dec 15, 2014

Speaker impedance should be equal or higher than the output impedance pf the amplifier.

Bryan, I have the TEAC 260 and have very good experience with it so far. I have owned for about a year and have no problems. Regarding the use of Bose speaker systems, I have two Bose systems at my home and their connection to the CRH-260i is no different than conventional stereo speaker systems. The Bose systems tend to be less efficient but can be readily connected.

I see that this unit can be hooked up to a smart phone, tablet, etc.. My husband was worried about the wording in the description because it says "i-phone" and "i-pad", etc. I assured him that the device isn't an apple and will support Samsung/ASUS/whatever, but he's worried. Settle this, anyone?

I hook up my android devices over the bluetooth function without problems. I am not sure, but if you want to hardwire your tablet, it might only be possible with an Apple device, but again I am not sure because I only uses the bluetooth.

My unit is still in the box. I am blind and pretty much tech-lacking. When I buy something my purchase is based more on the company's reputation than on product reviews. I am hoping to move to a new location by mid-October and then finally unpack and enjoy my purchase.

It works perfectly with my Nexus 5 running Android KitKat and my Thinkpad laptop. Zero problems hooking them up. This unit is very versatile, go ahead.

The teac speakers that are coming with the unit now are 4 Ohms and a close look at pics of the back unit shows it saying min 6 Ohms. I was ready to pull the trigger on this combo until I saw this. Clarification please?

Noticed same issue and consulted Crutchfield advisor who said should work fine. My unit sounds good but I do not crank it to high volumes. Strange matchup though.

My unit says the same thing. It works fine and sounds great. I think the unit requires 6 ohms minimum output full power rating. Max. power with 4 ohm speakers will be something less than the unit's power rating. I have no trouble getting enough volume for a 24 x 24 ft room.

My owners mannual does say min 6 Ohms for speakers. I attached 8 Ohm speakers and they work well. Overall I'm very satisfied with this unit.

Hello Doug: Oops! I bought speakers that are 4 Ohms for this amp. They work fine, although now I am wondering how much better it would sound if they were 6 Ohms.... I guess that is not a helpful answer.
    tracy  Jul 02, 2014

Hi, Doug. I bought the unit with the speakers a couple of months ago. I was also hesitant because of the difference in impedance between the amplifier on the player and the speakers. I read quite a few forum posts on the issue and one opinion that kept coming up was that you could use them as long as you were not going to blast music at full volume, because that could damage the amplifier. I have done just that: I never play with volume above 25 (it goes up to 40), and that's loud enough for my purposes. I use the unit to play some music throught Bluetooth from my laptop or my phone or to play the occasional CD of classical music. The sound is good, just don't expect audiophile-grade sound. I was actually surprised at how good they are, considering that they are bottom of the line for TEAC. I will eventually buy some nicer speakers, but for now, I'm very satisfied. I have not noticed any distorsion in the sound, nor anything I can complain about. Oh, and the speakers included about 3 meters of 20AWG connecting cable, Crutchfield told me they didn't but the cable came tucked inside the box. I hope I have helped.

They must have changed them because my speakers say 8 ohms. And the speakers are good, not great. I also purchased a sub woofer and now the systems sounds more defined.
