Enjoy clean, clear sound in an ultra-compact design with the Boston Acoustics A 23 bookshelf speakers. A pair of these mighty mites makes a great choice for setting up a high-quality desktop or bedroom music system. Or, create an entire compact home theater setup using five A 23 speakers in both the front and rear of your room. Just add the ASW250 or ASW650 powered subwoofer to complete your system.

Advanced drivers deliver the Boston sound you love
The A 23 features Boston's 1" Kortec® soft dome tweeter for clear, crystalline highs. The advanced ceramic/glass fiber polymer mid/woofer uses Boston's Deep Channel Design® to deliver more bass response per watt of amplifier power. The crossovers in all A Series speaker models incorporate low-loss capacitors and low-distortion cores for the inductors. It means you'll hear every note in your music with minimum distortion.

Thoughtful cabinet design
This speaker's cabinet design also features internal bracing to reduce resonances that can muddy the sound. Plus, as part of Boston's A Series of speakers, the A 23 features modern styling with a stunning high-gloss, scratch-resistant cabinet, a textured top panel for contrast, and attractive cloth grilles attached with magnetic fasteners.

Why choose bookshelf speakers?

Bookshelf speakers may be small in size, but they can deliver surprisingly big sound. Some ultra-compact models even fit on a desktop. Most are right at home in tight spaces like shelves, so they're usually good choices for your home theater's rear channels. For the best performance, try placing bookshelf speakers on solid speaker stands to help the sound really "open up." If you want full bass impact, add a powered subwoofer and enjoy punchy sound that's as deeply satisfying as that of floor-standing speakers.

Better than my old Boston speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was hesitant to buy speakers I hadn't auditioned, but Crutchfield's liberal return policy convinced me to give it a try. I had been using a 20-year-old SubSat7 as my desktop music system, and figured maybe things had improved in the past couple of decades. Honestly, these made the old speakers sound downright harsh! I paired these with my Velodyne sub and the sound is amazing.

Pros: Vocals are up front, but smooth. The stereo imaging is great. I couldn't be happier.

Cons: The bass is a little wimpy, but what do you expect from a small bookshelf speaker? Add a decent sub and it'll sound glorious.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've always been a "Boston Acoustics" fan and the same is true here. The sound for the size of the A23s is amazing. The highs are crisp and clear while the bass response is equally as good.

Pros: Great sound for the size!...Highly recommend these speakers.

Cons: The protective film, while glad it was applied was a little tough to get off. Other than that, no problems.

Very smooth and powerful speaker

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A very underrated speaker. Full and balanced without any of the upper-end harshness that i found on speakers that retain wonderful reviews in the AV mags. Suggest tweaking up the bass to get a little more of the lows, but it is an excellent speaker for near-field listening.

Pros: Great balance, rich sound at moderate listening levels. More bass than you would expect from a 3.5" woofer. strong Definition at the top end w/o sounding skreetchy.

Cons: It could be a little more defined at lower volume levels, but it is worth the trade-off for the better aspects of the speaker.
