The Bravo 20 houses a 4-1/2" woofer for excellent midbass performance and a 1" aluminum dome tweeter, which delivers clear, crisp highs. A unique shallow air channel leading to the speaker's exterior port gives it a thinner profile while allowing it to breathe openly for deeper bass response. Pick up a pair of these speakers for smooth stereo sound, and team them up with a powered subwoofer for even more bass. Or you can use Bravo 20s as surround speakers in a home theater setup. They're voice-matched to all Boston Acoustics speakers.

Driver Technology

Tweeter: The Bravo 20 uses Boston's 1" VR aluminum dome tweeter with AMD (Amplitude Modification Device). This tweeter uses a specially anodized aluminum dome. Compared to a soft dome, aluminum is equally light, yet more rigid. Compared to other hard dome materials, an aluminum dome is unrivaled in its ability to accurately track the input signal. AMD is used to further optimize the aluminum dome's output, without taking anything away. AMD is a patented acoustical tuning device that uses precisely sized hollow tubes positioned in front of the tweeter to refocus short wavelength energy and create an extremely smooth, flat response. This is done without using elaborate electronic components that can degrade the sound's purity.

Woofer: The Bravo 20 has a 4-1/2" copolymer woofer that's built from the ground up for this speaker. A rubber surround is used for added durability.

Bass Management: When setting bass management parameters on your home theater receiver, the outputs for this speaker should be set to Small.

Enclosure Design

ABS Cabinet: The Boston Acoustic Bravo 20's cabinet is made from textured ABS with a matching metal grill (detachable). The speaker is available in a black or white finish.

Bass Reflex Enclosure: The Bravo 20 employs a bass reflex (ported) enclosure with a front-firing port. The ported enclosure adds to the full sound of the speaker by increasing efficiency.

Connections

Binding Posts: The wire terminals are spring-posts, allowing you to connect the speaker wire using pin connectors or bare wire. Bare wire up to 12 gauge fits through the spring loaded posts. The binding post are color-coded for easy identification between positive (red) and negative (black).

Mounting Options

Wall Mounting Brackets: The Bravo 20 includes a wall mounting bracket which can be positioned vertically or horizontally. The body of the speaker is essentially one quarter of a cylinder so it can be mounted vertically, recessed into a corner, or horizontally at the junction of the wall and ceiling. The bracket can also be mounted perpendicular to the wall anywhere in the room. Mounting hardware is included. The large rectangular hole in the middle of the wall-bracket will fit a single gang electrical outlet to route the speaker wire through a conduit.

Tabletop Mounting: Included with the Bravo 20 are four self-adhesive rubber feet which allows the speaker to sit vertically on any flat surface (such as a table or shelf.) Also, included with the Bravo 20 is a rear bracket stand which allows the speaker to sit horizontally on a flat surface. When the rear bracket stand is removed, the Bravo 20 tilts up at a 45° angle (when placed horizontal).

Customer Q&A

Q
can these speakers be used upright or on their sides?

A
Was away sorry! Yes they can. They provide a mounting bracket also. ( seamlessly integrated to speaker. These are probably the last BOSTONS you will ever see!
lee  Dec 30, 2018
A
I use them as ceiling speakers for my ATMOS system, and they are fixed on their side, shooting towards the listening position. I am not sure what the question about upright is- you can definitely have them stand. Hope this helps,
guy  Dec 23, 2018
A
They can be mounted horizontally or vertically using the included bracket. Because I am particularly anal retentive, I appreciate that the Boston Acoustics logo on the grill can be rotated so that it can always be right side up, no matter how you orient the speaker.
michael  Dec 23, 2018
Q
Can these be mounted to the ceiling?, not just in the corner? I am trying to use them in a Dolby Atmos configuration.
tom  Jan 19, 2018
5 answers
A
Yes.
lee  Dec 30, 2018
A
Yes, this is what I did as I use them for the ceiling Atmos channels. I have tilted them towards the seating position and it works well.
guy  Jan 22, 2018
A
They would work well anywhere along the edge of the ceiling and wall, mounted in a horizontal position. If you want them on the ceiling itself I would recommend a different Boston Acoustic speaker.
nico  Jan 22, 2018
A
I have not tried them on the ceiling. But you should be able to because they come with screws (two for each) that make them convenient to mount.
muhammad  Jan 22, 2018
A
Yes you can. Mine are not in the corner
joseph  Jan 22, 2018
Q
Is "each" one pair or is $199 for a single speaker?
tom  Aug 15, 2015
8 answers
A
Per speaker, but they house quality drivers. (VR- series )
lee  Dec 30, 2018
A
Each, being a single loudspeaker.
emil  Aug 17, 2015
A
It is for a single speaker. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I was off the grid
michael  Aug 17, 2015
A
199 for each speaker.
william b  Aug 16, 2015
A
The price is for one (1)....But they are worth every penny for their appearance, flexibility, and most important the sound.
carl  Aug 15, 2015
A
$199.99 is for one speaker. $398.98 for two. Rather expensive and I purchased four (only) because they should timber match my other (7) Boston Acoustics speakers. Rather nicely made and I haven't used them enough to say how well they sound. Don't expect too much bass as my receiver crosses them at 110Hz.
charles  Aug 15, 2015
A
A single speaker is $199. These have a 5 year warranty so that's what you are paying for.
agustin  Aug 15, 2015
A
That would be one not a pair. I found that out. Great speakers.
tom  Aug 15, 2015
Q
Can you use this speaker as a center channel? I was thinking about getting three and a subwoofer for a 3.1 home theater setup that would also be good for listening to music.
adam  May 17, 2017
2 answers
A
I would not recommend to use as a subwoofer. I use mine as the middle surround speakers on my 7.1 system. Subwoofers are made very well nowadays, and for the same price, you could find a more appropriate speaker to use a subwoofer depending on how much room you have to put one near your television.
steven  May 18, 2017
A
I'm using 5 of these with Sub for our entire system. They are much above the level most of the super store bundles out there.
james  May 17, 2017
Q
I want to wall mount these speakers, but will be too far apart if located in the corners of the room. Will the supplied brackets allow attachment to a flat wall, but angled toward the listener? Thank you.
thomas  Nov 02, 2015

A
no I mount the flat to the wall without the brackets about ear level when I am sitting on the couch
robert  Dec 23, 2015
A
i have two of these mounted horizonal on the wall behind my couch. Very easy install and sounds great.
ricky  Nov 04, 2015
A
We have 8 of these speakers in our yoga studio. We have four each in booth a 1,000 and a 700 square foot room. They are mounted in the corners of the room and provide ample sound even when we have 30-50+ people taking yoga. The speakers are mounted on a flat wall and angled to the listener. I hope this helps! We have been nothing but happy with the speakers.
patricia f  Nov 03, 2015
A
No, the supplied brackets do no allow for angled mounting. You would need to make some forty five degree spacers from mdf and then mount to those.
william b  Nov 03, 2015
A
No. The brackets only allow for a flat placement. I don't know how big your room is, but I had the same situation and the speakers work very well being flat without having to be angled.
jim  Nov 03, 2015
Q
Are these speakers suitable to fit outside?
martin  Jun 16, 2015
8 answers
A
Hi Martin, I am using these speakers indoors but if you want to use them outdoors, I would make sure there is no exposure to elements. Crutchfield has excellent speakers designed for ourdoor use. I would highly recommenr the Infinity all weather speakers. Good luck.
scott  Jun 19, 2015
A
We put them in a protected area in the ceiling of an outdoor portal and they are great there. They are not exposed to the elements otherwise
kimberley  Jun 17, 2015
A
Martin, Although my two pairs of these speakers are both indoors, as long as they're protected from the elements, I would think they'd be fine. I've been very pleased with their performance over the years.
jim  Jun 17, 2015
A
No, they are designed for indoor use.
simon  Jun 17, 2015
A
The B A Bravo speaker is perfect for outside use. The design and many ways of installation make this speaker blend into any outside structure application. Most important is the sound that it produces. The Bravo speaker does an excellant job for its size an price point.
carl  Jun 17, 2015
A
You can fit them outside but they weren't designed for it. The speakers are made of a polymer so they should resist humidity to some extent but you might void the warranty if they get soaked.
agustin  Jun 17, 2015
A
I bought 4 of these for rear satellites in a 7.1 indoor setup and they sound great. These are not advertised as outdoor speakers, so I wouldn't recommend using them outside. Buy outdoor speakers.
gary  Jun 17, 2015
A
I don't believe they are outdoor rated
edward  Jun 17, 2015
Q
I am thinking about these speakers as the only source of sound in an open plan kitchen/living room. I am not looking for a surround system, just good sound. Will they do the trick? Thanks!

With these speakers it may be a little to flat, bright, in sound. I would just recommend it for a hometheater with a subwoofer. You may want to try Bose or Polk speakers.

Casey, I've purchased two pairs of the Bravo speakers (the first pair about 8 years ago and the second pair more recently) and have been very pleased with these. Both pairs are used as part of a home theater setup and they're more than I need for the room (which is about 16' x 16'). Depending on how loud you play them, they should met your needs. I wish you well.
jim  Dec 29, 2014
A
Yes these speakers would do very well as the only source in your setup. The low and highs are very clear and crisp and even without a sub woofer they fill the space nicely.
simon  Dec 29, 2014
A
Yes, we installed 5 in the family room next to the kitchen and they are great! Good choice.
margaret a  Dec 29, 2014
A
We use 8 of these in our yoga studio, The Freyja Project. We have two separate rooms for yoga that are 1,000 and 700 square feet respectively. With only four speakers, one in each corner, the rooms sound great! We would definitely recommend them.
patricia f  Dec 29, 2014
A
Why are you not doing in wall speakers. These nose speakers are very big.
vincent  Dec 29, 2014
A
I was using them as the only source of sound on my open floor plan in kitchen / dining / living room. I added a subwoofer for a richer quality sound. I hope this information helps.
kurt  Dec 29, 2014
A
I have them in a family room about 15 feet by 20 feet; 9 foot ceiling. The sound is good - but I don't get the same bass response that I did when I had a system with a separate subwoofer with my previous speakers. Overall I've been happy.
