Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These replaced a pair of 20 year old Boston Acoustics A70 speakers that finally
gave out. The bass is not quite as strong but the high's are great and, coupled
with a sub-woofer, and our 20 year old Boston HD5 rear speakers, the
surround sound for music and movies is very good.

Size Matters

I got a pair of these to replace a LARGE pair of floor speakers. My wife didn't like the space they took-up, and I didn't like they had become shelves. I've used satellite speakers (Sony) with a powered sub before, and wasn't satisfied. The sound quality from the BA's is superior to both prior set-ups. These speakers don't have a hard hitting bass (which was expected with no subwoofer), but the lows they do deliver is suitable for most TV shows and movies, along with certain types of music. If you like the BOOM BOOM POW, you'll want to add a sub to the mix. Overall these speakers are a great value.

Nice Floor Standing Speakers...

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchase the CS 226 tower speakers as an exchange for the POLK RTI4 Bookshelves; they do sound clear and also are able to hold BASS if you listen to Tech Music or Movies. So, for the price, they are very good, and I believe, they are better than the POLK or the Infinity Towers that are twice more the price of these. I do recommend these Speakers to anyone that isn't willing to spend lots of money.

They even sound better than the KLIPSCH Towers; which I returned. And, the Crutchfield Customer Service IS Awesome!!! They exchanged my POLK Speakers without any hassle and I have my new ones within Two (2) Days. Thanks Crutchfield for making an easy transaction YET AGAIN!!

Nice crisp sound with great detail

Got these to replace some 10 yr old speakers along with a Denon receiver. It has
amazingly crisp sound and some of the detail on the Blu-Ray DVDs are great.
Definitely looking forward to adding more components to the system. I've been
happy with the range on the speakers as well.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have had the speakers for almost a month now, they perform well - - nice and clear. The volume is crisp and the speakers are a great addition to any hi-fi or home theature. A sub-woofer would be helpful on the low ends, or if you do not have one adjustment to the bass control does work too.

Product Research

Tweeter: The CS 226 uses a 1" Kortec soft dome tweeter for clear high frequencies. Kortec is a silky fabric saturated on the underside with a proprietary stiffening agent. Because the inside surface of the dome is ultra stiff, the tweeter tracks the signal with ease and produces an excellent transient attack. Simultaneously, the soft, self-dampening top layer eliminates unwanted resonance, so the sound is smooth and articulate.

Woofer: The CS 226 has two 6-1/2" graphite injected polymer woofers with phase plugs. The drivers feature Boston's Deep Channel Design technology to give you more bass with less amplifier power. Rubber surrounds are used for added durability. The enclosure is ported on the back panel.

MagnaGuard: The speaker features MagnaGuard magnetic shielding which ensures the speaker's magnetic field does not interfere with a CRT television's picture.

Gold-plated Binding Posts: The wire terminals are gold-plated, 5-way binding posts, allowing you to connect the speaker wire using dual banana plugs, single banana plugs, pin connectors, spade terminals, or bare wire. Bare wire up to 10 gauge fits through the binding posts.

Width: The speaker's overall width of 10.227 inches is measured at its widest point; the feet at the bottom. The width of the cabinet is 8.284 inches.
