This compact bookshelf speaker from Boston Acoustics fits just about anywhere. Team up a pair of CS 23s with a matching powered subwoofer for crisp, full stereo sound, or use up to seven of these speakers and a sub for home theater sound that immerses you in the action on your TV screen. You'll hear precise, crystal-clear highs thanks to this speaker's 1" soft dome tweeter. And the 3-1/2" graphite-injected polymer woofer brings home detailed, dynamic mids.

Why choose bookshelf speakers?

Bookshelf speakers may be small in size, but they can deliver surprisingly big sound. Some ultra-compact models even fit on a desktop. Most are right at home in tight spaces like shelves, so they're usually good choices for your home theater's rear channels. For the best performance, try placing bookshelf speakers on solid speaker stands to help the sound really "open up." If you want full bass impact, add a powered subwoofer and enjoy punchy sound that's as deeply satisfying as that of floor-standing speakers.

excellent speakers within this price.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought 5 of these small speakers and one center channel speaker from crutchfield a
week ago. I was not sure about the performance of the speakers but when i hooked
them up with my denon receiver i was surprised to see the performance of these tiny
speakers. If you have a good subwoofer, just put in your receiver system as a small
speaker and it will give you a good bass sound and performance. Another reason i
bought them from crutchfield is because they are very trustworthy people. In these days
you might get a better deal but its hard to trust most of them. So i recommend crutchfield
and these CS23 speakers. They are an excellent deal within this price. Their packaging
performance is excellent. Whoever works in that department is doing an excellent job.
Thank You.

Driver Technology

Tweeter: The CS 23 uses a 1" Kortec soft dome tweeter for clear high frequencies. Kortec is a silky fabric saturated on the underside with a proprietary stiffening agent. Because the inside surface of the dome is ultra stiff, the tweeter tracks the signal with ease and produces an excellent transient attack. Simultaneously, the soft, self-dampening top layer eliminates unwanted resonance, so the sound is smooth and articulate.

Woofer: The CS 23 has a 3-1/2" graphite injected polymer woofer with a phase plug. The speaker features Boston's Deep Channel Design technology to give you more bass with less amplifier power. Rubber surrounds are used for added durability. The enclosure is ported on the back panel.

MagnaGuard: The speaker features MagnaGuard magnetic shielding which ensures the speaker's magnetic field does not interfere with a CRT television's picture.

Bass Management Recommendation: When setting bass management parameters on your home theater receiver, the outputs for this speaker should be set to Small with the subwoofer's crossover point between 80 Hz and 120 Hz.

Gold-plated Binding Posts: The wire terminals are gold-plated, 5-way binding posts, allowing you to connect the speaker wire using dual banana plugs, single banana plugs, pin connectors, spade terminals, or bare wire. Bare wire up to 10 gauge fits through the binding posts.

Mounting Options

Mounting: A keyhole bracket mounted on the back of the speaker allows wall mounting without purchasing an additional bracket. When wall mounting, affix the included tall rubber feet to the back of the speaker along the bottom. The bracket holds the speaker approximately 3/8" from the wall.
