Our take on the Boston Acoustics CS Sub10

This subwoofer helps transport you to the middle of a high-speed chase in a film or to a stadium seat at a thunderous concert. Boston's CS Sub10 uses a 100-watt amplifier to supply powerful, precise low frequencies with your movies and music. The 10" woofer delivers dynamic bass to give your system's sound a firm foundation. And Boston's exclusive signal-monitoring circuitry keeps audible distortion at bay, so the sound is clean and crisp.

Build a complete Classic Series speaker system with this sub, floor-standing front speakers, bookshelf speakers or satellite surround speakers, and a center channel speaker for high-impact home theater sound.

You won't be disappointed with this sub. I paired this with an Onkyo receiver and an older pair of Bose bookshelf speakers. It is an incredible sub. Once you get it tuned in where you want it, you won't be disappointed. I've never been sorry with anything I've bought from Cruthfield.

Boston Sub

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My whole system has Boston Acoustics, The speakers are getting up there in age now but still sound as good as the day I bought them. I just added this sub as my amp in my old one from a different manufacturer was starting to fail. Sounds really good, nice solid cabinet. Would be nice if the driver was a bit tighter for a more solid punch style bass as opposed to boom.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this sub after reading the reviews, and i'm very satisfied with the quality and sound...I had a Sony 250watt sub for about 6 years, and It died on me recently. It was a little more punchy than the Boston, but it also had a larger amp and two 10" drivers. That being said,The Boston unit is more than enough for a small-mediun living space and has a great low tone.I would recommend this product, for the price it can't be beat.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We wanted to add some sounds to a second area in our house, so we bought two Boston Acoustics CS 26 speakers, and we loved them. Then we bought the sub-woofer to go along with them. Now, the speakers sound great and we're really happy with the whole setup. The sub-woofer really fills the sound spectrum.

I only have the it turned up half way and the whole 1st floor rumbles.. what an addition to my system!! Good job Boston Acoustics finialy a great product at a decent price.

Great little sub, especially for the price. I listened to numerous others, at much higher pricing, this unit held it's own and more. I would highly recommend this sub, and Boston Acoustics in general. I've had a set of T830 towers for almost 20 years and they still sound spectacular(although I had to replace the woofers because the surrounds had dried out and cracked. I called their parts department, and they still carried the original drivers in stock..how's that for a reliable company!!!!) I'm completely sold on Boston Acoustics and I'm sure anyone would be happy with any speaker from this series!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This subwoofer is not a low quality beginners component. It's a very good product with a tight sound and lots of volume. There are new sounds I didn't hear before coming from my CD's. My feeling is that the whole frequency has been enriched. I find myself listening to my CD collection with a renewed interest. It's a new experience totally.

The amount of bass to cost ratio is very proportionate with this sub. With that, the quality of the bass is smooth and awesome. It's like with anything else, more $ will get you more on most things. If you're on a budget for a sub, this is a good buy.

I bought this as an open box,and so got a price break on it, it looks and sounds great. For the money I don't think you can get a better sub. This is the first time I've bought Boston Acoustics, I will look at them again next time I need something. Crutchfield has been awesome, great prices and the best support.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The first sub arrived damaged but when it comes service crutchfield just can't be beat! They had a new one at my door in just a couple of days. I had originally wanted to get a polk sub but did not have the cash after getting a another great deal on the polk RTI bookself speakers so this sub was recomended by them and was also on sell. I got it hooked up through the LFE but it just did not impress me at all so I gave them a call and was told to try using a Y connection and the crossover in the sub itself. Worked great and with a little fine tuning sounds great. Not over powering just deep, smooth, rich tones for music and great impact for action/war movies. The finish is really nice too. Between the deal I got on the RTI's and thanks to the guys in the service dept. for this recommendation I made out like a bandit. Again I can't say enough about "all" the people I've spoke with at crutchfield. If you have a question they have a answer. They really know their stuff. Thanks guys. Here is a list of my gear. Yamaha RX-V 2300 reciever, Polk RTI 4's, CSI 5, FXI 3's and the Boston Acoustics CS Sub 10, Toshiba Regza 42" LCD, and a Panasonic DVD recorder.

Boston Rules!

Written by: todd from West fargo on January 24, 2009

This subwoofer really impressed me.first its a 10" sub with only 100watts rms so i did'nt expect much from it.but when i hookded it up and turned it on and played some music WOW!I had to turn it down it was shaking stuff on the walls. And I am not kidding. And boston sound quality for the money is fantasic with boston. For the price here at crutchfield this sub is a steal for it's output at this price. It hits like most competitors 300 watt 12" subs do.seriously!I'll Be buying the CS226B,the CS225C speakers to complete my home theater system I already have the DSi465's(in ceiling) for my surround speakers which are voice matched to the classic series speakers.THANKS BOSTON FOR A QUALITY PRODUCT AT A FAIR PRICE!

Great CF Service

Written by: Melvin from Plano, TX on December 8, 2008

This sub has great sound with excellent build quality and visual appeal. I would also like to add that Crutchfield did a great job of customer service. The first sub I ordered arrived damaged (appeared to be dropped from a high height), but CF immediately sent me out a replacement and had the original sub picked up from my home in no time with no hassle.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The sound this sub produces is extremely clear and precise. I purchased this to accompany a set of wall speakers for use in our bar, also purchased from Crutchfield (Mirage I-6w's). After a day of install, my wife and I couldn't believe the warm sounds produced and the wonderfull effects this sub produced, along with the Mirage in wall speakers. I would highly recommend this sub for such an application, or even a home theater application. Bravo to Crutchfield for great product selection.

Features

BASSTRAC: The CS Sub 10's amplifier features BassTrac circuitry, a proprietary Boston Acoustics-designed technology which tracks the subwoofer's input signal and prevents the amplifier from being driven into audible distortion. Unlike conventional designs, BassTrac does not merely remove the signal peaks that cause distortion, instead it preserves the waveform's shape so the fidelity of the signal is maintained. Even the heaviest bass passages in movies or audio tracks will sound solid, rich, and full, without unwanted artifacts.

DCD (Deep Channel Design): The 10-inch driver used in the CS Sub 10 utilizes Boston Acoustics' DCD design. DCD is a deeply grooved pole plate that enables the voice coil to travel farther for greater output without bottoming out.

Down Firing: Since the CS Sub 10 is downward firing; the enclosure sits on four feet about 1 1/4" above the floor.

Auto-On Circuit: The CS Sub 10 has an Auto-On Circuit which can automatically turn the amplifier on when an audio signal is detected. It will automatically turn off after several minutes with no signal.

Controls

Volume Control: The rotary volume control is located on the rear of the subwoofer; use the volume control to balance the sub output with the other speakers in your audio system.

Phase Switch: The subwoofer's phase switch allows you to select 0° or 180°. If the bass sounds weak, muddy, or unclear toggling the phase control may strengthen the bass attack.

Crossover: The CS Sub 10 has a built-in 24dB/octave low-pass crossover, continuously variable from 40 Hz to 180 Hz. This adjusts the upper end of the sub's frequency range. The crossover is bypassed when the LFE input is used.

Connections

Line Level Inputs: The CS Sub 10 has three gold-plated RCA line level inputs, a stereo input and a mono LFE (Low Frequency Effects) channel input. The LFE output from a receiver is already crossed over so the sub's crossover is bypassed. When the stereo inputs are used the signal is routed to the CS Sub 10's crossover.
