Multi-Channel Design: The Boston GTA 1105 is a 5-channel amplifier,
basically two independent 2-channel Class AB amplifiers and an efficient Class D mono
subwoofer amplifier built into one chassis. Either of the 2-channel sections can be
bridged, so the amp can be used as a 5-channel, 4-channel, or 3-channel amplifier.
CEA 2006 Compliant: The GTA 1105's power ratings are measured
according to the Consumer Electronics Association CEA-2006 standards. These standards
allow you to accurately compare the rated power output of all CEA 2006-compliant
amplifiers, even different brands. Manufacturers who adhere to the standards can
display the CEA 2006 logo on their products and packaging. The power output is
measured from 20 Hz to 20 kHz for the front and rear channels and 20 Hz to 150
Hz for the subwoofer channel, using a 14.4 volt power supply, and with no more
than 1% THD+N:
- Front and Rear Channels:
- 70 watts x 4-channels into 4-ohms
- 125 watts x 4-channels into 2-ohms
- 250 watts x 2-channels into 4-ohms (Bridged)
- Subwoofer Channel:
- 250 watts x 1-channel into 4-ohms
- 400 watts x 1-channel into 2-ohms
Controls and Terminals: All the controls and terminals are
conveniently mounted on one side of the amp.
Controls
Gain: The amplifier's gain setting is adjusted using three
independent rotary controls for the front, rear, and subwoofer channels. The
line-level input gain settings are continuously variable from 200 mV to 5.0 V;
the speaker-level input gain settings are continuously variable from 400 mV to
10.0 V.
Crossover Switches: The front and rear channels have independent
crossovers; each can be set to HP (high pass), Off (full range), or LP (low-pass).
The subwoofer channel has low-pass and subsonic crossovers that cannot be bypassed.
Crossover Frequency: You can independently select the crossover
frequency for the front, rear, and subwoofer channel crossovers. The front and rear
crossover points are continuously variable from 50 to 200 Hz; the subwoofer crossover
point is continuously variable from 50 to 150 Hz. The slope of each crossover is 12
dB/oct.
Subsonic Filter: The subsonic (high-pass) filter on the subwoofer
channel is always on and is continuously variable from 10 Hz to 50 Hz; the slope is
12 dB/octave.
Q-Tune: Once the subsonic crossover point has been determined,
use the rotary Q-Tune control to increase the bass information centered around the
crossover point.
Connections
Speaker-level Input: Front, rear, and subwoofer channel
speaker-level input harnesses (included) supply signal to the amp when the
receiver has no RCA outputs.
Line-level Input: The front, rear, and subwoofer amplifier
sections have independent RCA input jacks.
GTA-RSL: RJ-14 port; connect an optional GTA-RSL remote level control (item number
065GTARSL, sold separately); the GTA-RSL controls only the subwoofer channel.
Front and Rear Speaker Output: Four pair of set-screw terminals
are provided for connecting the front and rear channel speakers; the terminals can
accept up to 10-gauge wire and the set screws are tightened/loosened with the
supplied 2mm Allen wrench.
Subwoofer Output: One pair of set-screw terminals is provided
for connecting a subwoofer; the terminals can accept up to 8-gauge wire and the set
screws are tightened/loosened with the supplied 3mm Allen wrench.
ATO Fuse: Three 25-amp ATO-type fuses are located between the
speaker and power terminals.
Power/Remote: The power, ground, and remote wires connect to
three set-screw terminals. The power and ground terminals accept up to 4-gauge wire
and the set screws are tightened/loosened with the supplied 4mm Allen wrench. The
remote terminal accepts up to 8-gauge wire and the set screw is tightened/loosened
with the supplied 3mm Allen wrench.
