Crystal-clear dialogue that draws you in
Boston Acoustic's MCenter speaker gives you the detail and clarity you need for exceptional home theater performance. Despite its compact size, this center channel speaker can hold its own with the floor-standing models in Boston's M Series family. Your eyes will appreciate this speaker's simple, understated looks, and your ears will appreciate Boston's advanced driver and cabinet design. Prepare yourself for clear, nuanced dialogue and exciting special effect that put you right in the middle of the on-screen action.
Balanced Mode Radiator for wide-open sound
One of the keys to the MCenter's full-bodied sound is the innovative Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR). BMR drivers use a flat speaker surface that combines the traditional "pistonic" movement of speaker cones with a "bending-wave" movement to create sound. This design allows the driver to cover a much wider range of sound — one that's normally handled by both a tweeter and a midrange — and gives the BMR exceptionally wide 180-degree sound dispersion. What does that mean? Instead of just a small "sweet spot" directly in front of the speaker, even listeners way off to the sides will enjoy crisp, accurate sound. The MCenter also uses two 4-1/2" polypropylene woofers to deliver robust low frequencies.
Better cabinet construction improves performance
Cabinet vibration, or resonance, is the enemy of clear sound. It adds distortion and coloration to music and vocals. Boston's M Series speakers fight vibration with LoQ™ cabinet construction. By using two sheets of MDF (medium density fiberboard) with a special damping adhesive layer between them, Boston created an enclosure that provides the acoustic deadening of much thicker materials without the drawbacks of added weight and increased size. The result is a relatively compact, lightweight speaker that has a very low resonance — or in speaker-speak, a low “Q.”
In addition to the Lo-Q cabinet material, Boston also used a scanning laser vibrometer to critically position the M Series cabinets' internal braces where they provided the most benefit, and added heavy-duty absorptive cabinet fill to eliminate internal standing waves. These advanced cabinet building techniques and materials result in speakers with impressive transparency and a large, detailed soundstage.

Features
Two-Way Speaker Design: Along with a pair of 4.5" polypropylene cone woofers, the MCenter features a 2.5" Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR) driver for consistent sound across a wide audio range.
- 2.5" Balanced Mode Radiator Driver: The MCenter center-channel loudspeaker features Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR) driver technology, designed to improve dialog and surround effects across a broad listening range. The 2.5"BMR driver uses a flat panel diaphragm that operates in two modes simultaneously. To reproduce lower frequencies, the diaphragm moves in and out like a piston--similar to how a traditional driver works. To reproduce higher frequencies, the diaphragm bends. These two modes of operation significantly extend the usable range of the driver, resulting in enhanced high frequency dispersion for more consistent surround sound.
- Dual 4.5" Polypropylene Cone Woofers: The speaker also contains two 4.5-inch polypropylene cone woofers for dynamic bass
High Quality Crossover Networks: Very high quality crossover networks featuring low loss film capacitors and low distortion laminated silicon steel core inductors are utilized for greater clarity and minimal coloration. A low crossover point delivers clear sound reproduction in midrange frequencies where the human ear is most sensitive.
Lo-Q Cabinet Construction Cabinet: The MCenter has a cabinet made of Lo-Q, a material consisting of two pieces of medium-density fiberboard joined together with a thick layer of damping adhesive in the middle. This material significantly reduces cabinet vibrations to virtually eliminate unwanted resonances allowing the MCenter to create a larger, more vivid soundstage.
Gloss Finish w/ Leatherette Wrap: The MCenter's gloss black finish and curved side panels with faux leather wrap can complement almost any decor.
Front-Firing Ports: The center channel speaker's dual ports have been put on the front to limit proximity effect when placed in cabinets or near walls.
Binding Post Speaker Terminals: The Boston Acoustics MCenter loudspeaker is fitted with a set of binding post speaker terminals that will accept bare wire (up to 10AWG), banana plugs (single only), spade-connectors, and pin-connectors.
Mounting Options: The MCenter should be centered directly below or above your television. The center-channel can be placed on a stand, table-top, or virtually any flat surface. Self-adhesive rubber feet are included to minimize the vibration transferred from the speaker to the stand, shelf, or cabinet. This will also help to protect the finish of the loudspeaker and the mounting location. The rubber feet add 0.25" to the height of the speaker.
