Enjoy atmospheric surround sound
Boston Acoustic's compact MSurround speakers blend so seamlessly into your room you'll hardly notice them. But when the jets start screaming overhead in the next cinematic dogfight, you'll definitely know they're there — delivering enveloping, atmospheric surround sound. And not just in the middle of the room — everyone will hear the effects clearly no matter where they sit, thanks to the MSurround's advanced driver design.
Balanced Mode Radiator for wide-open sound
One of the keys to the MSurround's impressive performance is Boston's innovative Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR). BMR drivers use a flat speaker surface that combines the traditional "pistonic" movement of speaker cones with a "bending-wave" movement to create sound. This design allows the driver to cover a much wider range of sound — one that's normally handled by both a tweeter and a midrange — and gives the BMR exceptionally wide 180-degree sound dispersion. What does that mean? Instead of just a small "sweet spot" directly in front of the speaker, even listeners way off to the sides will enjoy crisp, accurate sound. The MSurround also uses a 3-1/2" polypropylene woofer to deliver robust mid/bass frequencies.

Features
Two-Way Speaker Design: Along with a 3.5" polypropylene cone woofer, the MSurround features a 2.5" Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR) driver for consistent sound across a wide audio range.
- 2.5" Balanced Mode Radiator: The MSurround loudspeaker features Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR) driver technology, designed to improve dialog and surround effects across a broad listening range. The 2.5" BMR driver uses a flat panel diaphragm that operates in two modes simultaneously. To reproduce lower frequencies, the diaphragm moves in and out like a piston--similar to how a traditional driver works. To reproduce higher frequencies, the diaphragm bends. These two modes of operation significantly extend the usable range of the driver, resulting in enhanced high-frequency dispersion for more consistent surround sound.
- 3.5" Polypropylene Cone Woofer: The speaker also contains a 3.5" polypropylene cone woofer for dynamic bass.
High Quality Crossover Networks: Very high quality crossover networks featuring low loss film capacitors and low distortion laminated silicon steel core inductors are utilized for greater clarity and minimal coloration. A low crossover point delivers clear sound reproduction in midrange frequencies where the human ear is most sensitive.
Dual Top-Firing Ports: The Boston Acoustics MSurround has two ports on top to limit proximity effect and optimize performance over a wide range of placement options. Because of the top-firing ports, the speaker should be placed at least 3" from the ceiling.
White Gloss Finish: The MSurround's gloss white finish and curved side panels can complement almost any decor.
Binding Post Speaker Terminals: The Boston Acoustics MSurround is fitted with a set of binding post speaker terminals that will accept bare wire (up to 10AWG), banana plugs (single only), spade-connectors, and pin-connectors.
Table-Top or Wall-Mount Options: Because it uses a BMR driver, the MSurround is shorter than typical speakers with a stacked tweeter and midrange. As a result, it can more easily fit on your shelf, in a cabinet, or hung on the wall. The MSurround is equipped with dual 4-way keyhole mounting brackets for vertical or horizontal wall-mounting. Self-adhesive rubber feet are included to minimize the vibration transferred from the speaker to the stand, shelf, cabinet, or wall. This will also help to protect the finish of the loudspeaker and the mounting location. The rubber feet add 0.25" to the height (when table-top mounted) or depth (when wall-mounted) of the speaker.

Terrific complement to BlueSound PowerNode, along with P-Sub. Was concerned about power required, but no issue whatsoever. Vocals and most instruments are crystal clear and distinct. Crutchfield clearance was very timely.
