I bought for a "beater" van I use for work. They are a great speaker for the price. They respond and sound awesome. I have them mounted in the back of a 91 Ford Club Wagon. I had put a pair of Pioneer of the same price and one speaker went bad after a year and a few months. So purchased these and they sound far better then the Pioneers of the same price class. Also they did fit in the factory cut outs and I was able to use the factory grills, making the install a total of 3 minutes per speaker. When I am on a job I open the back doors and I have great sound.

I first replaced the rear factory speakers with the S85's in my 02 Explorer, and immiediately noticed the deep, smooth low end that I not only heard, but felt aswell. Then there's the midrange which is silky and sparkling which allows vocals to be heard with clarity, and last but not least comes the high end which is definitely ear pearcing! In ending, after replacing the front speakers with S85's aswell, they earn not only a 5 all around, but deserve a 10 ! Soon, I'm exchanging the factory cd player with a Kenwood eXcelon KDC-X492,which I'm sure will make the S85's really sing! on my vacation i went down to wills and bought me a set of these Boston
Acoustics S85 door speakers they took out my old factory door speakers and
installed these Boston Acoustics S85 replacement door speakers in my 2000
Ford Ranger xlt xcab and they sound a whole lot better than my old factory
door speakers and i would recommend these to any one who is on a
budget and im just waiting for my factory cd player to go before i go and
replace my factory cd player with a aftermarket cd player / radio

I bought a set of these to replace the rear panel speakers in my 2007
Hyundai Accent hatch.I have already added a Rockford Fosgate 12" Punch
sub and Kicker Kx150 amp for solid bass.Still having the factory stereo and
speakers it was lacking in clarity in mirange and upper bass,the seperate
tweeters in the doors were too bright if turned up enough to get mid-bass
out of the fronts.The bass in the rear panels was very muddy in comparison.
After adding these WOW! What a difference.They provided a smooth
transision from the deep bass in the rear all the way up to the highs in the
front.The clarity in midrange is awesome to say the least.They are very
clear with highly defined bass that is mellow and punchy.Midrange is solid
and highs blend in nicely. Perfect for rear fill.I can't wait to upgrade my
head unit and front door speakers now for the total package.I am sure
they will sound even better with a higher output aftermarket HU.I would
recommend these to anyone who wants excellant sound reproduction from
a full range speaker without needing a seperate amp.

I installed 2 sets of these in my '99 F250 diesel and the sound is awesome. They have great sound through the entire spectrum, and cover up the noise of the motor well. I am running them with a Pioneer deh-p6000ub which gives them much better sound than the factory unit. They were a breeze to install, about 15 minutes per speaker. GREAT PRODUCT!!!

First of all don't pay attention to anyone complaining about the mid and high
range sounds. They are running these off of a factory receiver and good sound
starts there. With that said some amplification makes these scream. I installed
these in the front door in my town car. I have an alpine head unit with the 45
watt boosting amp and it does the job. My mirrors shake, yes the ones on the
door. Paired up with my 6X9's in the rear deck I have no need for a sub at all.

Have to say a lot of people here are missing out if they purchased these speakers without an
amp. I don't know how they sound without one, but mine sound amazing with an amp. Very
clear and great bass.

These speakers sound great in my 03 Tacoma with a new receiver. They have good crisp highs and nice round bass. You'll need an amp and a subwoofer to get really thumping bass, but these are remarkable. I would say they stack up very well to the Infinitis I installed in the rear doors of my truck; they might even sound slightly better (which is NOT what I expected).

This is a good set for my needs. I replaced my stock speakers in the rear panels of my 01 cougar with a set of these, and coupled with the Boston SL80 plate speakers, they really shine. The SL80's help my subs reach a nice bass clarity, so these dont have to do anything but give me some great mid-high to high frequencies, and they are wonderful for that purpose. Clear, Clear, Clear! I would buy them again.
