Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Can't really complain for $70. Replaced the factory speakers in my rear deck with these and am running them off of a JVC deck. You don't really need an amp for these but it goes without saying that they would probably sound better with one. As is however I am satisfied. These produce a solid sound. You shouldn't expect 6x9's to have subwoofer performance anyway...these produce good mids and highs to round out a system...nothing can take the place of a sub. These bostons do what they are made for and at a really good price.

Nice Sounding Speaker

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers have a nice, clean sound. Plenty of volume for being powered by a JVC head unit.

Pros: Do not require much power for them to sound good.

Very Nice, Super Value!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I originally purchased the SE65's for front doors of Toyota Venza ('09), not enough bass response. So I bit the bullet and did a modification of factory brackets. Got these 6X9's to fit absolutely flush, magnet just barely extends passed water shield. Plenty of clearance for window regulator. After tweaking factory unit and set ASL to off, I have the most amazing sound coming out of my Boston Acoustics. Daughter says it's like being in a recording studio! What more praise can a dad ask for? I replaced the SE55's w/ the SE65's in rear by reversing the brackets that Crutchfield sent along with and boom another perfect fit! Wahooo. Incredible highs, mids, and lows! Now, they are even less expensive. So guess what, I'll be buying two more pairs. Obviously, I'm a Boston Acoustic kinda guy. I've had them in a car I had for over 13 years and the speakers never failed to impress me. Excellent construction and sound reproduction! Best move I ever made, well perhaps, getting them even less expensive than before might be the best move! Can't wait for a cleaner sound and a bit more power when Pioneer hurries up and sends me my AVH-P8400BH!

Pros: Clean natural sound reproduction, excellent response from music bandwith. Unbelievable value. Had to buy another set! Just because. It really doesn't get much better for the value.

Cons: Doubt it!!!

Great Sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Wow, I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by these speakers. I installed them in Sound Ordnance 6x9 bass bunkers in a 92 Toyota pickup and the fit great behind the seat. They are running off a JVC KDX50BT with no amp. They produce good bass especially in a small single cab truck. They get louder then I can take and I'm a rocker so I like my music loud. But what amazed me is there is no distortion. Lyle from Crutchfield recommended these and man am I glad I listened. They look good in the boxes and sound smooth and clear. If you are wanting a great speaker to run off your headunit only give these a serious look.

Pros: Price, Sound/quality

Cons: None yet

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Really like these speakers, got them on sale at Crutchfield, used Bill Me Later, fit in my 08 Toyota Yaris Sedan, after some modifications. Sound very much better then the cheap stock 6x9s that came in the car.

Pros: Quality speakers from Boston Acoustics.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These were purchased for a 2001 Jeep GC Limited to replace the factory Infinity door speakers. The fit was not exact, the "cage" the speaker is housed in stuck out some, but a washer or two made them fit. Once mounted all was well with the wiring etc. They cleared the door planel with plenty of room. As for the sound, like a few other reviewers, I found them to be "boomy" with heavy bass levels. So much so that door vibrations caused by them negates the clear sounding bass at anything but lower levels. They are definitly WAY better than factory and like other BA equipment, should last for a long time. Overall for the price, they can handle anything the factory amp can push out. I can't comment on the "tweeter" because these are being used as a woofer only with the factory x-over. For the money and if you ease off the bass levels, they should be a very nice sounding speaker for years to come.

Exceptioal sound.

installed these to replace the infinity gold 6 x 9's in my Jeep GC front doors. after having listened to these and adjusting the settings on my Pioneer deck, the only real improvement is in the highs due to the tweeter mounted on top. i am a little upset with the low output. i almost think my 12 year old infinity's supplied better bass...i am a little upset. don't get me wrong, they sound great. but if you are looking for 6 x9's, i would try the Kicker equivalent. they have a larger tweeter and reviews say they pack quite a punch.

I built box's so I could use these in the house. The sound is awsome and they are incredibly loud without any distortion.

Product Research

Tweeter: Each speaker uses a 3/4" carbon injected polymer Type-S3 dome tweeter with a neodymium motor structure. The Ferrofluid cooling increases power handling. Boston's CATB (Contoured Asymmetrical Tweeter Baffle) improves the off-axis response of the tweeter, and its asymmetrical shape makes the baffle acoustically invisible to the woofer, keeping the frequency response from the woofer flatter and smoother than conventional designs.

Woofer: The copolymer woofer cone and durable butyl rubber surround stand up to the harsh automotive environment.

Crossover: Each speaker in Boston's SE line features a specifically tuned crossover to deliver the best transition between the woofer and tweeter.
