If you just purchased a flat-panel high-definition TV, you're probably getting an amazing picture, but your TV's tiny speakers just can't provide matching sound. The Boston Acoustics TVee Model 2 gives you a simple way to get better audio from your TV, for a more enjoyable experience with all your favorite shows, movies, and video games. It easily connects to your television with just one cable, and looks right at home below the latest flat-panel displays.

The TVee Model 2's woofer adds punchy bass for fuller, richer sound. Its wireless design means there's no need to run cables across your floor or through your walls. Since the woofer measures less than one cubic foot, it's small enough to tuck away in a corner or under an end table. And the TVee Model 2 system learns the volume and mute commands of your existing remote control, so you won't have another remote cluttering up your coffee table.

Product Highlights:

    Sound bar:
    • connects to any television with a line-level audio output
    • built-in 2.4GHz transmitter
    • learns your existing remote control's volume and mute commands
    • removable cloth grille
    • four 2-1/2" midrange drivers
    • two 1/2" tweeters
    • 1 pair of RCA stereo inputs
    • keyhole slots for wall mounting
    • 30-5/8"W x 3-15/16"H x 4-5/8"D
    Wireless woofer:
    • allows placement anywhere in the room
    • 6" down-firing bass driver
    • 11-5/8"W x 9-1/2"H x 11-5/8"D

Sound bar speakers: room-filling sound with less clutter

Add big sound to your TV without a roomful of speakers. Sound bars require minimal space and wiring, and their sleek designs complement today's flat-panel TVs. Most sound bars have their own built-in amplification, so you won't need to use a home theater receiver. Some models use advanced surround processing and carefully aimed speaker drivers to simulate the effects of a full home theater audio system.

    Very Nice

Written By Sasified, Missouri on Saturday, March 12, 2011

I just got the Soundbar today. I was blown away by the sound that is emitted by
such a small speaker. I have a medium sized living room probably 12x18 and I
set the sub in the far corner of the room because I feel like it sounds better when
it's somewhat enclosed. The only problem I ran into was when I first hooked it up
it was interfering with my wifi connection for my laptop. I was worried that I would
have to return it, because I am pretty much addicted to the internet. After
googling it for about an hour I figured out that wireless signals work on channels
much like tvs (1-11). I set the Soundbar on channel 1 on the backside of the
speaker, and then searched for how to change the channel on my wireless
router. I finally figured it out and changed that channel to 11 to keep them the
furthest apart possible and now I am having absolutely no problem with using
the internet while the Soundbar is on.

Overall I am extremely pleased with this product, it sounds great for Sports,
Movies, and especially Music. I would highly recommend it to anyone that is
looking to upgrade their television viewing without having to go all out and
install a full blown surround sound system. Boston Acoustic really did a nice job
    with this product.

    Did not meet our needs

Written By BobN., Texas on Thursday, February 24, 2011

All the complaints listed... hard to program remotes (had to reset and start
over following more intricate and detailed instructions found online at the
product website, finally got it, but it did take research as manual was
useless), range of remote is limited, volume tends to be either too low or too
loud. If that weren't enough.... it interfered with our home wireless network.
We could not use a laptop in the same room as the speakers resulting in family
squabbles as we usually have people doing both activities. Movies bought online
through the t.v. were also impossible unless we set the volume where we wanted
it and then hit play and left it there. Any adjustments up or down in volume
after the movie started would knock the movie offline. We were using this
product with a Samsung HD t.v. and Comcast cable if it helps.

If you are just going to watch t.v. and your own DVDs, it's okay. For our
needs and activities, it was a bust so we returned it.

i love this soundbar and wireless sub! the sound quality is SO much better than any of the samsungs we looked at. real quality at a great price. crutchfield makes it easy. super fast shipping and awesome tech support!
the only drawback was that we have a samsung tv, and this unit was not made to hang right on the actual television, so my husband ended up making a bracket for it, which looks super, because we did not want to hang it on the wall.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this prouduct based on the 50+ reviews I read here and the fact that all the
earlier glitches had been workde out. Well, I received the product and set up was
easy. The sound was OK, did not blow me away just OK.

THE PROBLEM was that the remote to control the sound only communicated with the
product when it was 3 to 5' away. This was totally unacceptable as the set is in a
bedroom. This problem was identified earlier on the blogs but was supposedly fixed.

I returned it and bought a Bose GS Cinemate from Crutcfield. The Bose was twice
theprice + but is a terrific system for my bedroom 54" Panasonic G50 plazma. I'm in
heaven but a few dollars shorter in the wallet.

    Exceptional Quality, Great Sound

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had this for about a month now... It works perfectly, sounds great and was a snap to
The quality of the unit is exceptional, the sound is great. Additionally, what I really liked
about this unit was it's size. It was small enough to fit nicely under the TV and yet offered
great sound. The remote base is a very nice feature because it is wireless and still
    offers flawless sound.
I am very pleased with the unit and would purchase the same item again.
Incidentally, I am very hard to please. Boston A has delivered with this item and the
Crutchfield service and personal touch makes things easy.

    I guess it's ok

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It sounds better then the internal tv speakers, and the pairing the system with the tv remote is nice, one less remote to find, but it's limited range is an issue. Without HDMI the sound is unpredictable depending on the station I'm listening to. It doesn't seperate the channels very well I seem to get a lot of back ground noise making it hard to hear voice. It's sound is pretty brash it's either too soft of too loud, not a lot of in between, But for a self contained system and the price not sure how much more could be expected

    Thank you!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My husband & I purchased a great 47" flatscreen tv in the spring. Everything about it is
great, except the sound. I have a tin ear, so it didn't bother me, but my husband was
less than satisfied. I logged onto Crutchfield's website to see if I could remedy the
situation as a Christmas gift. I didn't want to go the whole surround sound, 7 speakers
to wire route and looked into the sound bar from Boston Acoustics. All the reviews of
this product convinced me that this was the way to go. Crutchfield delivered in less than
24 hours, cost free. I just hooked the soundbar up with absolute ease and used
Tango's directions to program to our remote. My husband is happily pushing buttons
and is completely satisfied. Even my tin ear can't miss the difference. The sound is
awesome! Thanks so much Crutchfield, BA and Tango.

Great sound. How to extend remote range.

Written By Danilo, Everett, WA on Thursday, December 10, 2009

Great sound. A little overpriced but it sounds really good compared to stock plasma or LCD speaker.

NOTE: As one reviewer mentioned here, to extend the range of your remote control, remove the red plastic remote sensor cover. Use a small jewelers screw driver and pry off the red lens cover. Voila, you just extended your remote control range to about 20 feet! Hope that helps.

Great Sound but installation a concern

Written By Marc, Long Island, NY on Thursday, September 24, 2009

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

soundbar is a wonderful addition to any TV. Only problem was the audio setup with my TV. Needed to use a 3.5 MM adapter for connection due to the LED technology on the Samsung LED set. Cannot use the conventional RCA plugs into the rear of the set. Must use the side audio plugs. Boston did not include this adapter nor did they know that this was the only way to install. After 3 calls to Crutchfield and finding a supersmart TECH person was this resolved. In fact I returned the original order.

TVee Model 2 - Good if your remote works it well

Written By Jeff, Virginia Beach, VA on Tuesday, September 15, 2009

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have had the TVee Model 2 for about a week now. Crutchfield delivered with their usual extremely fast delivery.

I wanted a device that would upgrade the poor sound of my otherwise great calibrated LCD TV without; 1. Adding any complexity so the kids and wife would see it as transparent 2. Adding any excess clutter to an already busy room. The TVee Model 2 fits these specs perfectly.

Of course I also wanted good sound without being over the top for my 45+ year old tastes. The TVee Model 2 sounds just right for my use. The mids and highs are nice, flat and tight. The bass on the sub is adjustable from very low to still not obnoxously boomy at the maximum. For normal nightime listening, you will not disturb others in the house. However if you pop in a Blu-Ray or DVD with a wide dynamic range and crank it, it still gives a pretty good cinematic experience (aka-the wife says it's too loud).

The placement of the soundbar was very easy for me and once I figured out the sub has to be in front of you to sound right, that was no problem either.

The bad part. As at least one other reviewer stated, the range of your remote which controls the TVee Model 2 volume can be extremely limited. My LCD TVs remote is all but useless at 6 feet of range. The Cox Cable box remote will give me about 8 feet. What that means for my setup is that you HAVE to get up every time for a volume adjustment. That's not acceptable and Im sad to have to return the unit.

    Remote Control Programming Instructions

Written By tango22, Rockland, ME on Monday, September 14, 2009

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sounds good, a big improvement over the tinny television speakers. But Boston
Acoustics' instructions for programming your remote control could have been
more explicit, perhaps something like this:

    1) On the TVee Soundbar: Simultaneously press and hold the POWER button
    and the VOLUME UP button until the TVee Soundbar LED flashes orange;
    2) On the TVee Soundbar: Press and release the button you want to "teach"
    (i.e., VOLUME UP, VOLUME DOWN, or MUTE);
    3) On your Remote Control: With your Remote Control held steady, about 12"
in front of the center of the TVee Soundbar, press (depending on which TVee
function you're trying to teach at this time) the VOLUME UP, VOLUME DOWN,
or MUTE button. You will press this button for about 1 second, release it for
about 1 second, press again for about 1 second, release again for about 1
second, etc, until the TVee LED starts flashing green.

The soundbar is great. It is almost too loud. I can't have it booming when the wife is upstairs watching t.v. Just beware that it only has one set of RCA inputs. It ended up being incompatible with a television I purchased, so I hooked it up to another one. I also like the wireless subwoofer since I didn't want to run a bunch of wires.

Here's the quick n dirty review...
I bought the sound bar, and it is unreal. The sound is booming. No wires and not having to add another remote control is wonderful. For those who had a problem with the bar being compatible with the tv- read the directions- it states SPECIFICALLY what to do. I'm glad I never got a complicated home theater system, or a costly Bose system. The sound bar is the best, most simple solution.

This system is about what I expected based on Crutchfield web site reviews. Certainly a large improvement over the built in speakers of my Sharp 42" LCD - especially music content. Since I did not listen the TVee before purchasing, after about two weeks of listening I would say it is close to the quality I was looking for, but not quite. For the money, it is probably a good value.

We were not satisfied with the sound from our new 46" Samsung LCD TV and our room is not really amenable to surround sound. This really fits the bill. It took about 10 min to set up for our Dish Network remote (hint: you have to teach the TVee with the TV remote). The wireless subwoofer worked first try. Great product, good price.

Have owned for about 2 weeks and am satisfied. TVee is hooked to FIOS tuner/converter and it was easy for the std converter remote to learn the 4 TVee functions. In a small room the bass unit sounds a little brassy but if you turn down the bass units volume the system sounds good. No problems with the wireless connection between bass unit and amp/speaker unit. Housings are all of good quality plastic material and should stand up to years of use.

The sound from this speaker system is great. Even better is the quick and easy installation, avoiding the need to run wires everywhere, and the ability for you to use your existing cable/satellite/tv remote to control it; fantastic all the way around. The sound quality is great and even though I use it in a relatively small den, it would clearly be more than sufficient in a much larger room as well. Great product... well worth the price.

I was looking for a step up from the stock TV speakers. This unit fit the bill and I especially liked being able to teach it to use my TV's remote to control the volume and not having to deal with yet another remote is a big plus. The wireless woofer is very nice. I had no problem teaching it to recognize my Samsung remote and range is not a problem. The total package was very good. However adding an equilizer makes it even better. Unfortunately it is getting more difficult to find equilizers.

I've had this for two months, and the sound is great. The remote control is a bit of a problem; it connected with my Panasonic Viera set, and the volume control does work. However, instead of showing the volume level on screen, each adjustment of sound triggers a "speakers off" notice on the screen.

But this is just an annoyance, and I've gotten used to it.

I don't know what all the hoopla is over the range of the remote is all about,I have mine in my bedroom and while lying in bed I,m a good 15-17 feet from the sound bar and have no problem at all. I do notice that you do have to point the remote directly at the sound bar but other than that I have no issues what so ever. I also love the wireless woofer that comes with the unit. Great Speaker System - Few Flaws

Written By Terry, Georgetown, TX on Wednesday, January 07, 2009

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Pros: Really great sound in a convenient package. Wireless subwoofer. Infrared control is on the speaker bar, not on the sub. Sub produces nice lows, and can be conveniently located out of sight.

Cons: Instructions not clear about requiring programming "each" function (ie., vol up, vol down, mute, power, etc.) were not very clear, but small inconvenience once figured out. Managing the volume requires pressing the volume up/down multiple times rather than just depressing up/down and holding it.

Summary: This is awesome sounding speaker package at a reasonable price. I highly recommend it! I did not experience any of the controller problems/issues noted in other reviews.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Well, I am happy I got the Boston Acoustics TVee model 2 Soundbar.
It takes a little while to get familiar with the robust sounds, but it brings the TV experience alive , especially HD. You can dial up or down the subwoofer, but I notice , once you set your TV (new I presume) to external speakers, the sound controls no longer work , and there is no bass/treble controls for the soundbar itself. Only the "trim" switch changes the pitch a little bit , from 1,2,3 mine was labeled backwards I was advised by Crutchfield rep. and I wanted to hear more clarity of vioces. he suggested setting it to number 1 but , it turned out this was number 3 on my soundbar.
Also, I was suprised , there was no remote control, but again , the TV has a setting ,called "variable " which allows control of volume and mute. You just have to set your soundbar volume to a decent level that your TV works off of .(Make it as high as you can for the lowest setting you want on your TV, then you can make it louder and softer with the TV controls.
Its growing on me. In fact , I am begining to think that the TV manufacturers specifically make the TVs with insufficient sound , anticipateing everyone will invest in some sort of sound improvement , be it a full surround set up or a surround bar , or a soundbar such as the TVee model 2 is. And supriseingly its not "Acoustic Suspension", its "Bass Reflex" but sound is ok cause it needs little volume . I am loving it . Try it !
    Happy New Years!

    Works fine with my Samsung

Written By Rey, Charlottesville, VA on Sunday, November 23, 2008

I bought this Nov. 21, 2008, and had it set up and working in less time than it took to extract it from the humongous coffin it's packed in. So far as the problem bothering others of getting it to work with the TV remote, piece of cake with all 3 of my remotes - Samsung TV, DishNet satellite, and Comcast cable. These reviews make it clear there can be problems, so follow set-up directions precisely.

Not so great is the sound from this sound bar. I was hoping for better voice clarity from my TV. My 70+ year old ears have been losing mid-range sensitivity, so TV voices on a Samsung sound muddy. They are just as muddy on this sound bar. But you can do something about that. Put an equalizer in the circuit. With it I can fine tune the Boston bar to compensate for faded hearing, and it sounds terrific.

The wireless sub-woofer is good gear if you like symphonic music, jazz, Broadway. Can't speak for modern movie soundtracks with all their artificial boom. We annihilate those before they can attack.

Got mine a week or so ago. Easy hookup, great sound. However, programming the speaker to recognize commands from my TV remote is impossible. After many tries I got it to accept volume up, and Mute. Cannot get Volume down to work. Also I have to be within a foot or so in front of the speaker for it to even recognize the 2 commands. Not very happy about this. Even cleared the programming copletely several times and redid the programming sequence - same results. Changed batteries in my remote - didn't help.

Great unit for sound on flat screen tv. The IR does not work as most everyone else has said. I wish I would have read the reviews ahead . I probably would not have bought unit.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I tell ya, despite the high star rating I was a bit skeptical about this unit based on some of the ratings. Seems that numerous people had issues
getting their remotes to work with the speaker at distances over a couple of feet away. Kinda concerned me, but with my personal experiences with BA products I went with this one. Glad I did as this unit nearly outperforms another home theather set I have in my basement. Simple setup as well.
It worked off of my TV remote out of the box on two of my three TV's. I hadn't setup my newest TV yet, so I was bouncing this unit around with the others in the household. The funny thing is that the only TV I had to actually program the remote on was the brand new Toshiba 42" LCD (lol). Worked out of the box on a Sony tube TV and a 19" Toshiba LCD.

As far as range goes, it worked from about 15 feet away based on my testing. Not sure if they fixed the issue that folks were having early on, or I got lucky, but no problem to report there.

Love the product and completly recommend it for anyone who have room setups that are not condusive to a 5 speaker setup (like mine!!).

    No remote problems

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently purchased and installed this speaker system for my new LCD wide-screen TV. This was my first system beyond the built-in TV speakers. Setup was very easy. Synching the TV remote with the speakers was also very easy. I am not experiencing any problems with the remote at all; it works perfectly okay for me, but our family/TV room is not all that large. The sound is so much better than what I had before. Overall, I am quite pleased with this product. Would recommend it to others who only want an upgrade without all the wiring/speakers of a larger system.

Great sound but has remote issues

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great speaker system if you want to upgrade the sound of your flat screen without running wires everywhere and you don't want/need surround sound. I purchased it knowing there were issues involving its IR. In fact, I could not get it to sense my remote unless it was within one foot of the sound bar. I ended up using my TV's IR cable and draped it over the front, which I can do as I have it in a cabinet behind a grill. In the process of finding a solution to the problem, I contacted Boston Acoustics and was told all I needed was to replace the dark IR filter with a lighter one. I do not know if this proposed solution would actually work. Although I did not order a replacement filter, the email implies I would get it for free. If this is a known issue, I do not know why they do not include the clear filter with the sound bar in the first place. So, in summary, great sound for the price, wireless subwoofer minimizes wiring, needs work to get it to have functional remote control.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a perfect blend of clear, crisp amplified sound without having speakers and wires all over your family room, along with another remote. The speaker has a 100 watt applifier that will drive you out of the room when turned to the highest level. Add to this a very nice down firing woofer that is wireless and the system is complete. You can get carried away with bass which will drown out voice if you push it. You can turn the speakers off on your flat screen or leave them on, your choice. Set the audio, on the menu of your flat screen to variable. I did this the day I hooked this system up and have no issues with a remote from 15 feet away, cable, TV or DVD. Only two wires to run from the speaker to the input on the back of the TV. Plug the woofer into any electrical outlet in the room and begin. I used the cable, then the TV and finally the DVD to increase or decrease volume and mute. No problems whatsoever. BA has a very nice system as a reasonable price. While there isn't sound coming out of 5 to 7 speakers, depending on your system, the quality of this system is equal to most surround systems out there unless you want to tie up $1,600 to $2,000 dollars. Having enjoyed both ways and being somewhat of an audiophile this system is great! I can't stress strongly enough about switching your sound on the TV from fixed to variable. Your husband or wife will appreciate less speakers and wires also.

    Good sound, terrible IR

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After reading the reviews, I took a chance on getting this speaker for my dad, since I didn't think he'd be able to hear as well with just the built-in TV speakers. As for the sound quality... it is incredible. I was astonished that for the size and price, the sound was as good as it was. Keep in mind that I am a casual listener. I am sure more devoted audiophiles have other products geared more towards their preferences.

As for the remote control... after programming the sound bar to receive the TV remote, it would only pick up a signal from 3 feet away or less! That's not good. I'm working with BA to get this fixed.

UPDATE: Looks like BA admits that this was a manufacturing defect. They're sending me a new IR sensor which will be pretty easy to install. I'll try to post back here any improvements in performance. I'll adjust my rating accordingly.

Fortunately, the Sharp Aquos TV has a variable sound output option that allows me to control the BA TVee using the TV. But doing things this way makes it easy to get the TV and sound bar out of sync.

    Sound Option!

Written By soundafield, Vermont on Tuesday, July 22, 2008

The product is a huge improvement over the stock speakers in flat screen TV's. It's easy to set up and, aside from the complaint in other reviews (that the IR remote range is way too short -about 4 feet at best), it works really well. it is also nice looking and a clean set up. Wireless Sub is a great feature. All in all, a sound option for improving stereo sound from a TV and keeping a clean look.

Unlike others though, I think the price is high for the level of fidelity offered here. The lows are not all that low and the highs are a bit muted. It's not all that dynamic. I get far better sound from my computer speaker set up for less than half that price. I wonder if a similar product could be designed without an internal amp, so you could use your old receiver as the amp, which might give more performance than the internal amp.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I agree with previous reviewers in that the improvement in sound quality over the internal speakers provided with my Mitsubishi LCD is astounding. The remote subwoofer works great. The range of musical reproduction, however, is not matched by the range of the IR remote receiver. It is only slightly better than having to push the buttons on the soundbar because you have to get directly in front of the unit less than 5 feet away. I ordered the equipment knowing that this was a problem area and it is truly the only negative and why my review is not 5 stars.

    Nice Sound Bar

    For my money the
    Boston TVEE 2 is a
    great product. I
    can't believe how
    nicely such a small
    sub works. It
    shakes my whole
    house if I turn it
    up all the way. The
    remote is a bit
    tricky from time to
    time, but it still
    helps because at
    least I don't have
    an additional remote
    laying around. I
    have enjoyed having
    surround sound
    without running
    wires everywhere.
    Thanks Crutchfield,
    for a great, lower
    priced option.

I love the sound but I still have not been able to teach it the controls of my remotes. I've tried my DVR remote and the remote that comes with my TV. It's not bad enough for me to send the speakers back. I'll just have to keep trying.

The soundbar speaker does what it says. It has greatly improved the weak sound of my Samsung 50" Plasma stock speakers. The base unit works great too. The soundbar was also easy to install right on the wall under the television. All in all, it's a nice unit for the price.

    BEWARE......Poor IR Performance

Written By jon, Maui, HI on Wednesday, April 30, 2008

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I read the reviews and didn't believe the IR performance could really be that bad. I am a custom installer and tried a bunch of different remotes, including the Harmony ONE which has a really strong IR. Those who say 6 ft. is the range are generous. I have to be 3-5 feet from the unit. Had they have put about buck more towards the design of this product, they would have had a decent piece of equipment. Sound is pretty good, looks pretty good. It's like having a a nice shiny car.... that you have to push start.
Oh yeah.... Crutchfield is awesome! No other online retailer treats you this well. I TOTALLY trust them. Sometimes they charge a little more, but peace of mind is certainly worth it.

    Good alternative to 5.1

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm quite pleased with the sound of the BA TVee Model 2. I couldn't run hidden wires easily and I didn't want speaker wire draped around the room, so this was a good compromise. The sound fills the room and the wireless sub sits behind a couch and provides the needed punch. The speakers in the Sharp 46" LCD are decent, but not great. The quality of sound in this soundbar really makes up for the TV speakers.

Like others have reported, you must be standing directly in front of the soundbar and no farther away than about 6 feet to adjust the volume. That's why it only gets 4/5. Otherwise, it's a good product that fills a much-needed gap.

Remotes won't work it from farther than two feet

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was exactly what I wanted: good TV sound that works with the TV remote that my wife is used to. But the remote did not work from farther than two feet away. I tried five different remotes and none worked more than the two feet. If the speaker grille is removed it adds another foot. Crutchfield sent a second unit and that did the same. I gave up and returned them both. Lots of other reviews say the same thing. I hoped I would be lucky and that it would work. I wish it would have worked. Hook-up was easy, sound was good, and the price was right.

I purchased the TVee 2 several months ago and I couldn't be more satisfied. It was very easy to hook up and the sound it produces is great. I am particularly impressed with the wireless woofer, which really enhances the bass tones. A super buy for the bucks.

The sound system fit the bill for what I was looking for. My new LCDHD TV had weak sound and the Boston Acoustics TVee Model 2 sound system did the trick. I have this TV and sound system installed in my Family Room, where I don't have room for a full up souround sound system. The sound is deeper and matches the great HD picture. Also, hook up was a breeze. If you are looking for true souround sound, this is not for you, but if you have limited space and are not happy with the TV speakers, this is the answer.

Great sound to boost my LCD's sound. The sub works great too. The only problem is some remotes have to be close to the sound bar to work. All in all prefect for a small room that you do not need surround sound in.

Why can't they just build this into every TV!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Simple easy upgrade to your flat-panel LCD. So far, I have not seen any LCD TV with even half-way decent sound. This fixes it. It is not surround sound, just very good stereo sound. Now movies and rock concerts sound great -- not blaring loud, but loud enough for a family room. You won't mistake this for a home theater system -- but you can feel rumblings from the sub-woofer, and so does your upstairs neighbor!! The wireless subwoofer is a great concept, and should be incorporated into every LCD TV.

I would have given it a 5 star if it had the ability to change the subwoofer setting with the remote (or a graphic equalizer). I find I have to constantly change it for news/TV programs vs movies.

The speaker is easy to install and so I had no problem with the installation. For music, the speakers are great! For football and basketball games, the crowd noise is greatly emphasized and it is difficult to hear the announcers. It seems that there is too much on the bass side....even with the external wireless speaker turned off. I wish there were some controls so that some adjustments could be made. The only way I can handle the crowd noise is to turn the TV sound up and turn the new speakers down to a lower level. My wife does not like it and wanted me to return it!

I programmed my remotes to work with this unit. You had to be 4 feet away or closer for them to work and then not too well. Called Boston Acoustic and they had me take the front screen off to expose the sensor. It then worked. Put the screen back on the it didnt work. Unit now on its way back for a new unit. Sound was better than TV and subwoofer worked well. Bostos Accoustic people said it was new and they were working out the kinks. Sorry I had to be part of the working out process.

I am using this product in our bedroom and am pleased with the product/ sound. I found a dandy mounting place just above my 46" flat panel. It only took two flat straps and mounts to existing two of the tv bolts.

I did have the base unit quit working the second time of usage. I did a return and another is to be in Friday.

Good, solid product. Easy to set up. Certainly not surround sound but for a smaller tv viewing room it works quite well. My room is only 11' by 18' with tv and soundbar about 9' from viewer/listener. A home theater sound system with surround speakers would have been overkill. Bass unit really enhances listening and viewing experience greatly.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am very pleased with the sound and performance of the Boston TVee Model 2. It sounds great and the wireless sub is very easy to use. I bypassed teaching the system to learn my remote codes by leaving my TV's (Sony KDL-32S3000) audio out set to "variable." The TVee turns itself on as soon as it detects an audio signal and turns off when there is no audio. Could not be easier.

I am using the TVee in our bedroom where a full 5.1 setup would not be welcome. Do not buy this if you are expecting a surround experience. If, on the other hand, you want great sounding TV without a lot of wires and a setup that is quick and easy, check out the TVee.

    Product Research

Overview: The Boston Acoustics TVee Model Two is a 2-piece Television Entertainment Enhancement system. It consists of a slim, single stereo "soundbar" that can be placed above or below the TV, and a matching wireless bass speaker. It is designed to greatly enhance the sound of your TV, replacing your TV's tiny speakers and weak amplifier with a total system power of 100 watts. The system can learn the power and volume commands from your TV's remote control.

Design: The speaker cabinets are made of molded ABS plastic. They are internally braced with MDF to eliminate resonance.

Grille: The TVee soundbar is equipped with a removable onyx (black) cloth grille. The bass unit does not have a grille.

Boston P.O.P.: The Boston Personal Option Plan (P.O.P.) allows you to match your environment with optional grilles in multiple colors for the Horizon series speakers. In addition to the Onyx (black) grille that comes with the speaker, you can purchase grilles in Glacier, Chocolat, Rose Bud, Chili Pepper, Silver, Caramel, or Pearl Gray. These optional grilles are available directly from the manufacturer.

Connections: All the TVee Model Two needs is a stereo audio signal fed into the soundbar. You can get this signal from your TV's audio output, or from your satellite or cable box. The bass unit gets its signal wirelessly from the soundbar.

Controls: The soundbar has three top-mounted controls: Power, Mute, and Volume Up/Down. If the input signal from your TV or cable box is variable, the TVee's sound will vary when you change the volume using the TV or Cable Box remote. If the input signal is a constant level, you can "teach" the TVee to respond to your TV's remote control.

Tweeters: The TVee soundbar uses dual 1/2" dome tweeters, one for each channel, for crystal clear high frequencies.

Mid-Bass Drivers: The TVee soundbar has four 2-1/2" mid-bass drivers, two for each channel.

Bass Unit: The TVee's wireless bass unit is equipped with a down-firing 6" woofer.

Enclosures: The soundbar and wireless bass unit each have bass reflex enclosures. The soundbar has ports on each end, while the bass unit has a down-firing 2" diameter port.

Soundbar Placement Options: The TVee soundbar is perfectly sized for TV screens of 32" or more. It is designed to be centered with the screen. It can be placed in front of the TV, or on a shelf right above if the TV is housed in a cabinet. There are two large keyhole slots to facilitate mounting it on a wall.

Bass Unit Placement Options: The TVee bass unit gets its signal from the soundbar wirelessly, so it can be placed virtually anywhere in the room. It only requires plugging into an AC outlet.
