Have you shopped TVs lately? They're more of a visual feast than ever before. They're bright, sharp as a tack, and thin. Great news for your eyes; not such great news for your ears. Good speakers seldom have anywhere to hide on these new, sleek models, meaning your TV's great visual quality is way under-supported by the on-board sound. That's why this Boston Acoustics TVee Model 26 sound bar makes such good sense. With a minimum, and we mean minimum (plugging in one audio wire in most instances) of effort, you can up the sound quality of your beautiful TV from anemic to fantastic, paying off that clear, detailed picture with sound to match.
Boston Acoustics hasn't forgotten that many of us are giving our mobile media players a chance to belt out some music as well. That's why this sound bar comes with two available analog stereo miniplug inputs, so (once again) one wire will take care of everything. What do you get when you mix awesome simplicity with musical, all-encompassing sound? The TVee Model 26 is one of the few correct answers to this question. Hook one up. And time yourself doing it if you want some additional satisfaction. Couldn't be easier.
Add big sound to your TV without a roomful of speakers. Sound bars require minimal space and wiring, and their sleek designs complement today's flat-panel TVs. Most sound bars have their own built-in amplification, so you won't need to use a home theater receiver. Some models use advanced surround processing and carefully aimed speaker drivers to simulate the effects of a full home theater audio system.
Garbage. I used to regard Boston Acoustics as a quality brand, not any more. The sub-woofer amp ceased working shortly after purchase, however, this was a gift for my Dad and I did not learn of the issue until it was past the warranty period. I'm out of luck. It can't even be repaired as BA has discontinued it, what a shock.
Pros: Ease of installation.
Cons: Sub-woofer is garbage.
This BA sound bar can't be beat for costing less than $300. It is being used in a 13X13 room and the power is great for that size room. I bought a Scratch and dent one and I could not find a flaw anywhere
Pros: Easy set up. Good clean sound. Bass will not shake the walls but is a good match for the bar.
Cons: none for me
Plenty of amps of sound. Together with wirer less sub woofer and set up help , if you need it Combined with the service and knowledgeable Techs ready to help if you need it. A the Crutchfield reputation to boot..
Pros: brand and price and help when you need it
very good sound
Outstanding product worth every dollar. I timed it right and got it on sale
Pros: EASY SETUP AND THE SOUND BAR WAS BETTER THAN EXPECTED
Decent sound quality, if a little "boomy". It'll take time to manually tune the subwoofer to your room -- you can't do it via remote. Programming my remote to work the bar was cumbersome, but doable, and now it's done it works fine.
Pros: Easy set up.
Cons: I cannot use my Xbox 360 via WiFi (Xbox Live, Netflix, etc) to provide a video source while the soundbar is turned on. The wireless connection to the sub interferes with the Xbox's WiFi signal. This is a big CON in my house.
The optical wire could be longer.
Pros: Easy set up.
Cons: Connecting wires could be longer.
Excellent product. Easy install.
Pros: Great sounds with Subwoofer.
Cons: Could not get the optical cable to work. So just went with RCA cable. Still sounds great.
With my wall-mount, flat screen installation, the humongous AC wall wart made it impossible to install. Many sound bars like this are so light, but they achieve this by placing the AC/DC converter inside a wall wart instead of having it inside. There is simply no space at the power outlet. Even if recessed, the wall wart is too large to fit inside a reasonable box.
Pros: Looks great on the wall.
Cons: You cannot install it behind a flat screen TV on a wall without leaning the screen forward, which looks simply terrible in most homes.
The web discreption said it would program to our DirecTV remote, even showed (1 of 5) a picture on our remote. It would not program, but it did have a remote in the box. The subwoofer just shook the pictures on the walls and upon turning it down it was non-existant. Most of all the sound volume or pressure was awful, and with 150 watts it sure was quiet. At it's full volume we could talk on the telephone while listening to NBC news.........................we returned it.
Pros: Cudos to crutchfield for taking it back
Cons: I am not going to use two remotes, and at age 62 this was an awful experience.
good value and performance
Sounds good. Looks good with LG TV.
Pros: Connection & set up easier than I anticipated
Cons: Woofer volume control on the unit. If it is hidden away it may be hard to get to. But once set up one does not have to adjust.
I couldn't program this to work with my DirecTV remote, and am not going to have two remotes laying around, so back she goes! Kudos to Crutchfield for waiving the fee to return.
Pros: Easy to set up.
Cons: Couldn't program to work with DirecTV remote.
This sound bar is very good compared to to others that i have tried from Vizio, Samsung , Sony and LG. The sub is the difference maker to me. This sub gives strong and dynamic punch to movies and music. Hook up to my cable box was very easy and pairing to the sub was a breeze.
Pros: Sound. This sound bar rocks with movies and 2ch music. gets loud and the bass will shake the pictures on the walls (with a dolby digital source)
Cons: The remote. U cant control the bass through the remote (the sub has a knob on the back) and the remotes range pretty much sucks. Im glad i have a logitech programable remote :) The virtual sound is basically useless.. The bar sounds great with and without it.
The TVee Model 26 was as advertised. It was extremely easy to hook up and produced excellent sound quality. The wireless subwoofer is an added feature.
Pros: Easy installation.
I have this product installed in a 15x15 living room (apartment) with th sub firing down in the corner on carpet. I haven't been to turn the sound bar up like I would want to (I respect my neighbors) plus I installed it at 10pm but at the level I did hear the sound at I'm more than satisfied with this system. My intentions were too buy them from Crutchfield but when I was in a different companies electronic store comparing it to the Polk 3000 I just I just had to have it right then and there, lol. Keep in mind that in a store which is so open the speakers may sound good or just ok but once you get them in a more enclosed environment this is where you will be amazed.
Pros: Nothing to setup, sound bar and sub come paired from the factory, pretty much plug n play. Includes mounting template if u plan to mount on the wall, sub hits nicely w/o being turned up to the max, no lights to interfere when viewing the tv if mounted right under, you can program an existing remote, nice finish and shape, comes with digital audio Cable
Cons: No cons unless you wanna consider the fact that it doesn't have Bluetooth so no streaming music wirelessly but that kills your battery on your device faster but at least it does come with a Aux cable and Aux to RCA

Overview: The Boston Acoustics TVee 26 is a two-piece home theater entertainment system that consists of a soundbar speaker and wireless subwoofer with virtual surround sound. The TVee 26 offers dramatically better sound quality than your flat-panel TV's built-in speakers. The soundbar & wireless subwoofer system brings powerful and dynamic audio to your movies, music, and games. There is only one cable which connects the system to your television and you can control it with your TV's remote.
150 Watt (RMS) System Power: The soundbar and wireless subwoofer are self-powered and each are equipped with its own built-in amplifier. The TVee 26 features a total system power of 150 watts to drive both the soundbar and wireless subwoofer. With a total system power of 150 watts, the TVee 26 virtual surround sound speaker system envelops you in rich, room-filling audio.
Soundbar Speaker: The TVee 26's soundbar achieves its stunning audio performance through the use of Boston's low-distortion, wide-bandwidth HHRT (Hyperbolic High Rigidity Transducer) driver technology. The Boston Acoustics TVee 26 soundbar is equipped with dual 2" x 5" HHRT (Hyperbolic High-Rigidity Transducer) drivers inside a bass-reflex enclosure made of ABS plastic. The soundbar can be placed above or below your flat-panel TV. It should be centered with your television. There are two large keyhole slots (22.75" apart) to facilitate mounting it on a wall (mounting template supplied).
Wireless Subwoofer: The wireless-powered subwoofer is equipped with a down-firing 6.5" woofer inside a bass-reflex enclosure with a down-firing 2.25" (diameter) port. The wireless subwoofer's enclosure is made of ABS and has been internally braced with MDF to eliminate resonance. The TVee 26 system's 6.5" down-firing wireless subwoofer delivers deep and powerful bass. The TVee 26's powered subwoofer gets its signal from the system's soundbar wirelessly (2.4 GHz), so it can be placed virtually anywhere in the room (up to 25').
Digital Optimized Virtual Surround (DOVS): The TVee 26 features Boston's Digitally Optimized Virtual Surround (DOVS) processing for pinpoint, theater-like, surround sound. Digitally Optimized Virtual Surround (DOVS) technology from Boston Acoustics uses sophisticated digital processing to create a fully immersive, cinema-quality sound experience, whether you're listening to music, watching a movie, or playing a game. DOVS decodes the full, Dolby Digital 5.1 channel audio signal from the source material and applies a proprietary process to derive the ideal 2.1-channel version of the original surround sound mix. You can indicate whether you have table-top or wall-mounted the soundbar speaker for better imaging. The soundbar's exclusive Boston DSP control switch maximizes performance for movies and music.
BassTrac Circuitry: The powered subwoofer utilizes BassTrac circuitry for tight, distortion-free bass at all output levels. `
One Wire TV Connection: The TVee 26's soundbar speaker connects to your television with either a single stereo RCA cable or optical digital cable (also requires AC power). You can get this signal from your TV's audio output, or from your satellite/cable box. The powered subwoofer gets its signal wirelessly (2.4 GHz) from the soundbar; it only requires plugging into an AC outlet.
Volume Controls: The soundbar speaker is equipped with front-mounted volume controls and comes with an IR remote control. You can also program your television's or satellite/cable box's remote control to operate the soundbar's volume. The wireless subwoofer features a rear-panel independent volume control (min-max).
Trim Level Switch: The soundbar's trim-level switch changes the input sensitivity (1-3) of the TV 26 to match the output level of your TV or satellite/cable box.

Sound is incredible, I haven't tried using it as a center though. I use mine to enhance the poor sound of my TV speakers. it offers great depth and tight bass., You may find you don't need the front LR towers, but you can adjust the sound to your asking. [ Eugene Jan 27, 2016 ]
I think it would make an excellent mid-range center speaker. I use it with my TV as source, augmented with wooofer--works well for classical music, my main activity. [ Thomas May 01, 2015 ]
We don't have it wall mounted, but it can be. It sounds great in our living room, which is about 14x16 feet. The woofer is behind us in the corner. I would recommend it, and plan on purchasing another one for another room. [ RICHARD A Dec 27, 2014 ]
That would be just fine but you need to make shelf or brackets to hold it . I would also aim it down bit depending on how high you mount it. It sounded nice for guy I installed for. He had 65 inch tv and it sat below the TV [ MELVIN Dec 18, 2014 ]
Don't know, but I doubt that it would matter. I wouldn't think it would look great. [ JANET Dec 18, 2014 ]
I have mine below. But, I don't think that above will change the sound unless you are right up next to the TV. [ ROB L Dec 18, 2014 ]
Absolutely! Mount it on the wall. It projects sound all over the room anywhere it is mounted. [ Richard Dec 18, 2014 ]
We bought this as a Christmas gift for some friends. They have their TV mounted above their fireplace and the sound bar below that which places it approx 4 feet off the ground and it still sounds great. I think if your TV is on short stand and plan to mount it so it is nearly head level while seated you will be happy with the results. [ JON Dec 18, 2014 ]
Sorry, I don't know the answer. [ RHYS Jan 06, 2014 ]
Sorry, I cannot help you, Gary. I just installed my new sound bar and am just using the little remote that came with it. Good luck! I'm sure it just a setting that is getting overlooked. [ Richard Jan 06, 2014 ]

I have directv also and got mine to work. The directions were a bit confusing though. If I remember, when going thru the steps , you have to push the button for each individual function, volume up, Volume down, mute. I think the directions just tell about doing for mute? But you have to do it for all. Good luck, it's great once it programmed. Remember to put your tv volume in mute mode on the setting menu [ Ken Jan 06, 2014 ]
