Designed for long-lasting performance

To achieve its robust performance, each Voyager 50 features a 5-1/4" graphite injected woofer, allowing it to produce more resonant bass without bottoming out. The 3/4" soft dome tweeter is made of Kortec®, a multi-layered material exclusive to Boston's tweeters that allows them to deliver smooth, articulate highs without any unwanted resonance. The Voyager 50's tough polypropylene cabinet resists damage from moisture and ultra[kill hyphen]violet light, and all the internal parts are sealed and gasketed. The Voyager 50 can even be used safely in marine environments.

Mounting the Voyager 50 is a cinch: the adjustable C-brackets let you aim the sound toward a desired listening area. The bracket is made from heavy-duty, corrosion-resistant aluminum for long-term durability. And the speaker's wedge-shaped cabinet allows for flexible placement, even in tight spaces like in corners and under eaves.

Boston's Voyager Series was created as an all-purpose solution for indoor, outdoor, and marine speaker needs. The speakers are actually optimized for outdoor use, with the ability to project sound in a focused area.

Features

Overview: The Boston Acoustics Voyager 50s are indoor/outdoor/all-weather high-performance speakers that are specially voiced for open-air use. They have an adjustable bracket to allow you to mount them in a wide variety of locations. The Voyager 50s are sold in pairs.

Woofers: Each speaker is equipped with a 5-1/4" graphite-injected, copolymer woofer for solid, more resonant bass. The Deep Channel Design woofers use a deeply grooved pole plate that enables the voice coil to travel farther for greater output without bottoming out. The woofer uses a butyl rubber surround.

Tweeters: The Voyager 50s feature 3/4" Kortec soft dome tweeters. Kortec is a silky fabric saturated on the underside with a proprietary stiffening agent. Because the inside surface of the dome is ultra stiff, the tweeter tracks the signal with ease and produces an excellent transient attack. Simultaneously, the soft, self-dampening top layer eliminates unwanted resonance, so the sound is smooth and articulate.

Weatherproof: Drawing from over a decade of all-weather speaker expertise, Boston Acoustics built the Voyager series to minimize exposure of acoustic parts to weather and with materials proven to resist the elements. The cabinets are polypropylene and are resistant to impact and UV rays. The grilles and mounting brackets are made of aluminum, and the speaker connectors are gold-plated. All the drivers are manufactured from high-tech plastics, rubbers, and other materials that have been extensively tested for durability.

5-Way Binding Posts: The gold-plated 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire up to 12 gauge, pin connectors, spade connectors, banana plugs, or dual banana plugs.

Note: Two plastic caps in the ends of the binding posts will need to be removed before banana plugs can be used.

Mounting Brackets: The included heavy-duty aluminum C-brackets securely hold the speaker to most any surface while offering enormous placement flexibility. They allow you to rotate the speakers almost 90° each direction after they've been mounted, letting you direct the sound to different areas as needed. The speakers' wedge shape makes corner placement easy.

Note: If you remove the bracket, the 1/4"-20 threaded inserts for the bracket's knobs can be used with 3rd party mounting brackets.

I don't know that your be satisfied with the amplification a TV would provide. I keep then out year-round in Pennsylvania. They are partially covered. If you mount then open air, point then downward so as to keep water from the face of the speaker.

Not sure about straight TV connection, but yes can withstand heavy rain.

Not familiar with audio output on the TV you mentioned. I have 3 pair connected to SONOS Amps. All are located under waves of house. I have had no issues. I believe they could handle direct rain. Speakers are well built and sound great.

Q
Environmental limits? I live in south Texas and I recorded a temperature of 116.9° this summer, and I have seen it stay in the low teens for days in winter. Now Texans are tough, but not even I am going to be outside groovin' to tunes in those extremes. My question is at what extremes CAN I play these speakers? They will be mounted on a west-facing wall with no real eave to speak of, unfortunately. I looked up the owners manual and found no useful info there. Thanks.

I used these speakers in Honduras for 5 years on an outside patio. Now they are in NC on an outside patio, still perfect.. Major temperature change and humidity was through the roof.

I have two pair of these speakers. One of which I bought 15 years ago. They've been hanging outside from day one. Through rain, snow and full sun. Still work perfectly. Highly recommend them. I think they should be fine in your conditions.
