About the RetroSound 502-292 Dash Kit

Dave Delamere

RetroSound 502-292

You've got a classic European vehicle, like a VW or a BMW, and you want to install one Retrosound's digital media receivers to update your sound system while keeping that classic look. However, your vehicle accepts a “DIN-style” radio in its dash, so a Retrosound shaft-style radio won't simply drop into place neatly. Retrosound's 502-292 DIN repair dash kit enables you to install a RetroSound radio with its knobs into that 7" wide by 2" tall opening. Warranty: 1 year.

Q
How big is this radio ?

A
It isn't very big on it's own. When it's fully assembled it fits in a single din slot. If your car doesn't have a slot, retrosound also sells a din repair kit to make it fit in any car.

It fit in my 70 MGB. I used the remote wire kit so I could separate the faceplate and the main unit. I located the main unit under the dash. It would have fit without the kit but the original radio didn't provide a whole lot of space and was a tight fit in the console.

The head unit itself is not large are all. It is about 4 inches wide and about 5 inches deep. Maybe 2" thick.
