A solution for tight spaces

You want to put a RetroSound radio in your classic vehicle, but you don't have enough room behind the dash to install the entire radio. And you really don't want to do a lot of cutting to get a radio to fit.

RetroSound's M2-9FT-EXT 9' extension control cable lets you avoid modifying the insides of your dash to get a new radio to fit. Detach the faceplate from the radio chassis, install the chassis where you have room, install the shallow faceplate in the dash, and connect the two with the cable. This cable is compatible with the Model Two, Zuma, and new Classic radio models. Warranty: 60 days.

RetroSound M2-9FT-EXT

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this radio to keep the vintage look with modern features. The stock location in the dash only had about 3 inches of depth after installing air conditioning. The fact that you can install the face and controls in the dash, but place the rest of the unit elsewhere meant I didn't have to patch up my dash and put a radio in the glove box, or under the seat. I'm happy with the purchase.

Pros: Allows radio in stock location when aftermarket air conditioning uses up the space behind the opening in the dash.

Cons: The optional extension cord only connects the face to the main unit. The knobs have phone handset cord plugs on them about a foot long. I had to order 2 hard to find flat wire handset cords and couplers to connect them to the main unit. I would gladly pay more to have them included with the main cord. For this reason I could only give 4 stars.
