Q
Will this work with a 91 Lexus LS 400?
s  Jul 31, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings and thank you for your question. The Retrosound PA-01 is a universal powered antenna. It can work in many vehicles, but it is not a direct replacement for any. There would have to be some modifications in order to mount it.

Q
how much under-fender depth does it require?
lester  Sep 18, 2022
1 answer
A
This antenna requires 8-3/4" depth under the fender.

Q
Will this antenna work on a 1993 Honda accord se?
terree  May 02, 2022
1 answer
A
This antenna , at least the one I received , wont work on anything. When I hooked it up, just like the antenna that it replaced, it deployed nicely. I could not get it to retract. I hooked the thing up directly to a 12 volt battery and it still would not retract. Do not purchase.

Will this work in a 2004 Ford Taurus station wagon? I tried using the website, but it says, "we don't check this item for compatibility."

If your car had an electric antenna it would work. Otherwise I would think it would be hard to do the wiring to a factory stereo.

A
I'm sorry I not able to help. The antenna didn't work on a Toyota because the motor was to large for the space. Sorry

Q
will this fit my 1998 Aston Martin DB7? Currently, it has an Harada model LNA4120. Wiring: Red always hot, Black Ground, Other Switched from radio power. tertiary ground lead to car chassis.

A
I cannot provide a complete answer as I am not familiar with the space on your 1998 AM DB7 that you wish to instal it in. However I will give you all to info I have. The product is approximately 4 inches wide as you look it pictured on this website, and it's less than 3" deep. From the top of the larger silver cylinder to the bottom of the motor housing is approx 6". If you have a recess more than 12" deep going from the top recessed antenna position to the base of the motor housing then YES it will fit (assuming the bulk dimensions for the motor housing are accounted for). This is a very sturdy and reliable product. that's why I'm taking the time to give what ;little info I can for you. Hope it works out!!

WILL THIS MOUNT IN A 1965 BUICK RIVIERA?
martin  Feb 22, 2021

A
Yes. It fit my 1964 Cadillac Sedan de Ville. Its more universal, not a direct fit, but it comes with all the mounting hardware you will need.

Q
Will this antenna fit a 03 Dodge Ram 2500?
william  Feb 10, 2021
2 answers
A
I would say that if it loooks like the one in your Ram then is most likely fits. I bought it for my 1984 Excalibur and it works perfect. There was a small issue with the original one they sent me. I contacted the mfg. and with in a few days we received a brand new replacement with No Hassle. Very trusted Co.

Best to ask Crutchfield directly. I took measurements, but was not qite able to get it into the tight area for my Subaru.

Antenna for a 77 vet rear mount ?

This unit should most likely fit into a Corvette trunk cavern of this vintage as it should not differ greatly from the original equipment, and comes with an assortment of adaptable bases.

Do you know how much vertical room is there?
cliff  Oct 15, 2020
A
I have no idea about Corvettes and their power antennas. You will need to look to see if there is enough room to mount the antenna. It mounts with the little ring or bump towards the top of the mast. There are quite a number of adapters to align the antenna mast to the fender etc of your car. Good luck
christopher  Oct 15, 2020

Jim i ordered a power antenna for my 1964 Ranchero. After installation it lasted for about 2 months, then started having problems. Sometimes goes all the way up. Sometimes part of the way. Same results going down. Have not contacted Crutchfield about the problem because id want them to replace AND pay for the install. My mechanic installed it and I'm sure they wouldn't pay for the removal and install a new one. Just too much of a headache.

Q
will it work in my 1989 Lincoln continental that has a power antenna but doesn't go up when the radio goes on or down when the radio goes off. It has a separate sw to go up or down ?
larry a  Aug 06, 2020
3 answers
A
This sounds like the situation I had with my 1969 Mercury Marquis. This antenna will go up and stay up as long as it senses current flowing to the radio; when the current stops, the antenna retracts. This antenna has a 'turn-on' wire for this purpose. You would need to hook the turn-on wire to the turn-on lead from the radio. (I had a turn-on lead retrofitted to my radio,) If your radio does not have a turn-on lead you could connect the turn-on wire to the switched +12 volt power source from the car. This way the antenna would go up when you turn-on the car on and down when the car is shut off. You cannot use the original antenna switch. Manually switched antennae like your car had are getting hard to find. The PA-01 can be made to work, but you'll have to wire it differently than the original.
stuart  Aug 08, 2020
A
Double check your wiring, should be power on a wire coming out of the radio that connects up with the antenna when turned on and likewise it should be dead when the radio is turned off. If no power regardless of on or off, as confirmed by an OHM meter test, a internal part in the radio providing the power to the antenna has probably failed, needs to be replaced if part is available. The radio must be removed from the car and taken to a electrical repair shop to check things out. If all fails, a car in a yard somewhere may have one, or a suitable new replacement radio that fits your particular dash might be considered.
dennis  Aug 07, 2020
A
I have no idea f it will fit or work on your Lincoln. Probably will though, the kit comes with many options for mounting the mast to your vehicle's sheet metal and for attaching the motor to the inside. You can wire it to operate any way you want but it does not come with a separate activation switch.
christopher  Aug 06, 2020
Q
Does the antenna retract flush with the body?
scott  Jun 09, 2020
4 answers
A
Yes, about as close to the body as it can get. There's a couple of other interesting things that the manufacturer should realize could make for more sales: They claim you must have the type of radio that automatically raises the antenna when you turn it on or it won't work. Not so! I hooked up mine to an extra convertible top switch I had, mounted it under the dash so I can raise and lower the antenna any time I want to. Works fine! Also, I tried it on a 6 volt system, if you own an original pre-1956 car. Works on that too! only the antenna is a bit slower when operating.
dennis  Jun 10, 2020
A
If the antenna is installed correctly and has the correct adapters for your vehicle, it will retract flush. This model would not work in my !992 Subaru SVX, so I had to install a used one from a wrecked Subaru.
charles  Jun 10, 2020
A
Flush with the housing fitting on the fender, so it will protrude 1/8" or so.
christopher  Jun 09, 2020
A
Yes. There is a chrome hex trim "nut" at the top of the fixed base of the unit and the knob at the top of the antenna mast retracts into and fully flush with that top nut. Nothing projects above that top nut when retracted. Looks nice...

Q
Does the motor have a high current draw? Is a relay recommended?
sam  Jan 08, 2020
4 answers
A
No this is a low draw motor. Your radio operates it. Either up or down any wires needed will come off your head unit or radio to turn it on or off when needed
david  Jan 09, 2020
A
I did not use a relay. So far no problems, functions perfectly.
ralph  Jan 08, 2020
A
You should always hook the power to a fused source anyway. Never used a relay, never had a problem as the motor isn't used very long when on. I don't know the actual amp draw.
christopher  Jan 08, 2020
A
No, it doesn't draw a lot of current and I don't see where a relay would be needed.
stuart  Jan 08, 2020
Q
Can I make the antenna shorter?
mikey  Dec 10, 2019
3 answers
A
The internal construction would make that very, very difficult.
cliff  Dec 12, 2019
A
I don't think so. I have it connected to a RetroSound radio and it goes all the way up when the radio is turned on and all the way down when it is turned off.
robert  Dec 11, 2019
A
Mikey: It only goes all the up or all the way down. will not work with semi-auto switch. Good Luck

Q
What is the hole size needed to mount this antenna?
bruce  May 12, 2019
4 answers
A
I can't honestly remember. I replaced my broken one on my 1968 Chevelle with this antenna and put it in the original hole on the back rear fender. the original hole was a little oversized, I would say 7/8 to 1 inch. hope this helps you.
david p  May 25, 2019
A
I didn't actually measure the mount, but I can verify that this unit fits the cut-out for the stock GM antenna.
bill  May 25, 2019
A
Don't remember, if your car has a retractable antenna this would most likely fit, it comes with adapters to fit holes and match the contours of the cars body panels, for my application It fit a 1994 Honda Accord perfectly
james  May 25, 2019
A
The antenna is under 1".

Q
Will this antenna fit a 1965 ford Thunderbird?
mark  Apr 30, 2018

A
I installed one in a 1964 Thunderbird with ease - plenty of space available. Essentially the same car...
steve  Jun 09, 2020
A
I installed it on a 1969 Mercury Marquis and it was fine, but the trunks on that generation of Thunderbird are pretty shallow. Take some measurements and compare to the antenna. If it's too tight, a compact version of this unit is available.
stuart  Jan 08, 2020
A
Sorry, but I don't know. I brought the antenna for my 1983 Ford T-Bird, but I haven't installed it yet. Good Luck, JIM

Q
What are the overall dimensions if this antenna unit?
richard  Oct 07, 2016

Overall height is 12.75 inches tip-to-tip with mast retracted. The bulkier lower section is about 7.5 inches high and about 2.5x3.5 inches in overall max cross-section.
steve  Jun 09, 2020
A
I already installed mine so I can't give you exact dimensions other than you need 12 inched below the top mounting point for installation. You might find more info at the manufacture's website; Retrosound Good luck
