RetroMod

The right speakers for your vintage vehicle

Retrosound makes it easy to replace the factory speakers in almost any car — classic, vintage, or even brand new. Their RetroMod Series speakers feature extremely shallow baskets designed to fit into a wide variety of standard speaker locations. They may look old school, but Retrosound builds their speakers from the ground up, using the latest techniques and materials.

Sturdy materials, detailed sound

Each R-612N 6-1/2" speaker features a powerful neodymium magnet and a low-carbon steel frame that form a strong foundation. The sturdy pulp composite woofer with its Santoprene surround delivers powerful performance while standing up to heat and humidity. The Mylar dome tweeter broadcasts detailed highs without sounding shrill, and its low profile helps increase installation options.

These speakers are efficient enough to play well with any receiver, whether it be an aftermarket or factory one, to deliver your music with plenty of impact. Replace your worn-out factory speakers with these up-to-date Retrosounds, and your tunes will sound new again, just like your classic ride.

Note: Retrosound describes this model as a 6" speaker. Most manufacturers designate this same frame size as a 6-1/2" speaker. For simplicity's sake, we list it as a 6-1/2" speaker.

Product Highlights:

  • 6-1/2" 2-way speakers (pair)
  • pulp composite woofer cone with Santoprene surround
  • Mylar dome tweeter
  • power range: 2-25 watts RMS (50 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 58-21,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 87 dB
  • top-mount depth: 1-1/2"

Why replace your factory speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Happy wife!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I thought I was doing my wife a favor replacing the OEM speakers in her 1990 Civic. She hated them. I had chucked the originals so I had to find replacements that sounded like OEM. These speakers did the job (cheap) thank goodness.

Great sound for the price

Called and spoke with Kyle and after a few minutes I was satisfied that these speakers would fit the application that I needed.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great factory speaker replacement. Sounds as good as factory and costs a lot less. Also has a great fitment.

Pros: Good product.

Cons: Takes a little while on shipment due to being shipped by the manufacturer instead of crutchfield.
