Retrosound R-652N

A vintage fit

Retrosound makes it easy to replace the factory speakers in almost any classic, vintage, or even new car. Their RetroMod Series speakers feature extremely shallow chrome baskets designed to fit into a wide variety of standard speaker locations. They may look old school, but Retrosound builds their speakers from the ground up, using the latest techniques and materials.

Each R-652N 6-3/4" speaker features a powerful neodymium magnet and a low-carbon steel chrome frame that form a strong foundation. The sturdy pulp composite woofer with its Santoprene surround delivers powerful performance while standing up to heat and humidity. The Mylar dome tweeter broadcasts detailed highs without sounding shrill, and its low profile helps increase installation options.

Although efficient enough to play well with any receiver alone, these RetroMod speakers can handle the high power from aftermarket amplifiers to deliver your music with plenty of impact. 6-3/4" speakers first appeared in the doors or rear deck of many 80's vehicles. Replace them with these up-to-date Retrosounds, and your tunes will sound new again, just like your classic ride.

Free speaker grilles

You'll get a free pair of matching speaker grilles (a $20 value) when you purchase these R-652N RetroMod™ 6-3/4" 2-way car speakers.

Note: Retrosound describes this model as a 6-1/2" speaker. Most manufacturers designate this same frame size as a 6-3/4" speaker. For simplicity's sake, we list it as a 6-3/4" speaker.

Why replace your factory speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

1995 Nissan Hardbody extended cab - Review of the Outfit my car tool a

Written By MikeH, Austin Tx on Tuesday, May 03, 2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a 1995 Nissan Hardbody truck and used the Outfit My Car tool to
determine the size spearker for behind the seats in the extended cab area.I
thought these speakers would work out because of the shallow depth and the
outfit my vehicle tool said that the 6.5 would fit. This truck has a very shallow
mounting depth of 2 inches and the actual size of the mounting ring hole is 5
inches. I can tell you for sure they DO NOT fit this truck. I told the Crutchfield
tech support that they should update the tool, so that they do not send the wrong
size to anyone else. I will let you know when I determine what will work
The 6.5 inch speakers only fit about 1/2 inch into the mounting bracket.
I also took the entire back wall apart to determine if it could be modified, the only
way that could work would be a different mounting bracket (not able to find
anything). Due to the flip down jump seats you are limited on how far out you can
mount off the wall, basically factory speaker grills have to be used.. No idea how
the speakers sound, because I am in the process of sending them back and
trying the 5.25 speakers. The 4 inch RetroSound fit in the door and sound good
for such a small speaker, much better than the factory speakers.

I was not sure which speakers to choose for my car with a newly updated MP3/Cd system.. Crutchfield made it so easy and a novice like me made a great choice in the RetroSound bass speakers... I went on a road trip recently and they preformed better than expected... nice sound for such a reasonable price. I am very please.
