A vintage fit

Retrosound makes it easy to replace the factory speakers in almost any classic, vintage, or even new car. Their RetroMod Series speakers feature extremely shallow baskets designed to fit into a wide variety of standard speaker locations. They may look old school, but Retrosound builds their speakers from the ground up, using the latest techniques and materials.

Each R-693 6"x9" speaker features a powerful neodymium magnet and a low-carbon steel chrome frame that form a strong foundation. The stiff polypropylene woofer cone with its Santoprene surround delivers powerful performance while standing up to heat and humidity. The Mylar dome tweeter and midrange driver broadcast detailed highs and mids without sounding shrill. The tweeter assembly's low profile allows this speaker to fit behind more factory grilles.

Although efficient enough to play well with any receiver alone, these RetroMod speakers can handle the high power from aftermarket amplifiers to deliver your music with plenty of impact. Car makers put paper cone 6"x9" speakers on the rear decks of many older vehicles. Replace them with these up-to-date Retrosounds, and your tunes will sound new again, just like your classic ride.

Product Highlights:

  • 6"x9" 3-way speakers (pair)

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Excellent Sound and Clarity

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers were the exact match to the power output of my new Alpine Head Unit. The reviews were a deciding factor in purchasing this set of speakers. I was not disappointed.

Pros: Sound and clarity are excellent. I mounted these speakers in the rear deck of my 1969 Chevrolet Caprice. With such a big trunk, I had to turn the bass setting down on the H/U to compensate for the bass produced by my cavernous trunk! I really appreciated the package tracking I received once the package left the RetroSound warehouse in Nevada.

Cons: The mounting holes just barely matched the stock mounting stud locations in the rear desk of my vehicle. This is not really a Con, but an annoyance. Otherwise, no issues with this set.

excellent speakers - went in easy and sound terrific; had more expensive speakers that were not as good-very big improvement over the stock civic speakers (paper cones and tweeters) that rattled and buzzed. very happy with the quality and price!!

1997 Honda Accord LX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace the stock rear deck speakers in my 1997 Honda Accord
LX. These fit right in, but only two of the mounting holes actually mated up
perfectly. However, that didn't bother me at all, since those two screws hold
the speakers firmly. They sound much better than the stock speakers. The bass
is decent, as is the treble. For the price, these are fantastic speakers for
someone who is looking to upgrade from some crappy stock speakers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was actually impressed with the quality of sound that came out of the speakers. I
replaced all four of the factory speakers and really like these for the price. I didn't
have a lot of room and these were a good comprimise. I do wish they had a little
more bass tho.
