Now you can get a digital media receiver (this model does not play CDs) that matches the look and fit of the factory radio in your classic ride, so you can enjoy your iPod®, satellite radio, or other portable music player while cruising in a vintage vehicle. Retrosound designed the Model One digital media receiver to mount in almost any classic car, using an ingenious InfiniMount bracket and shaft system that adjusts to fit any dash opening.
Old school looks, new technology
The Model One looks like an old-fashioned radio, but it offers the modern conveniences of a front-panel USB port and an auxiliary input. Simply connect your digital audio player, satellite radio, or a thumb drive loaded with music files, and enjoy hours of modern entertainment. You can view track info on the LCD screen. You can also play your CDs through the Model One with the addition of Retrosound's 10-disc CD changer.
Two sets of preamp outputs let you add external amplifiers, and a remote control is included for added convenience. The Model One also comes with a U-bracket for mounting the radio under the dash or in any other convenient spot. With the addition of the optional 94" remote extension cord, you can even install the Model One in a hidden location and operate it with the wireless remote control.

Why replace your factory radio?
Two good reasons - sound quality and cool features. A new car stereo offers power that's superior to most factory radios, along with more sophisticated tone controls. And most car stereos offer built-in or optional features that add safety and fun to life in your car, including inputs for your iPod or MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls, satellite radio or HD Radio reception, and connections for building an audio system in your car.

Retrosound Model One
1981 Cadillac Eldorado
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I installed this in a 1981 Cadillac El Dorado. It is a great unit, but the price seems a bit on the high side. It took a bit of time to make it fit, but the unit is extremely adaptable. Being so adaptable is what makes this unit worth the price I suppose.
GREAT CHOICE FOR MY 65 MUSTANG
1965 Ford Mustang
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
GREAT UNIT, I WAS LOOKING FOR A RADIO THAT FITS MY 65 MUSTANG, I SAW MANY OTHER UNITS FROM OTHER COMPANYS SUCH AS CUSTOM AUTO SOUND, OLD SHAFT STYLE ALPINE AND PIONEER MODEL'S, BUT THESE UNITS WHERE CASSETTE AND THEY DID NOT FIT WELL, I DIDN'T WANT TO CUT FROM THE ORIGINAL PANEL, FOR ME IT WAS VERY IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE ORIGINAL LOOKS IN MY CAR, I WAS LOOKING FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS, GREAT UNIT, VERY NICE AUDIO AND FUNCTION'S, THE RADIO WORK'S GREAT WITH MY JUMP DRIVE.
I INSTALLED THE UNIT IN ABOUT 25 MINUTES, IT IS WORKING WITH 2 AMPS AND 1 ELECTRONIC CROSSOVER, HANDLING 1 SUB WOOFER AND 4 SPEAKERS.
THANK YOU CRUTCHFIELD TO HAVE ALWAYS A GREAT SELECTION OF PRODUCTS LIKE THIS GREAT UNIT, ALSOE THE FREE CUSTOM FACE WORKED GREAT, THIS IS THE WAY TO GO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BUTCHER YOUR DASH, YOU CAN HAVE A VERY NICE HEAD UNIT IN YOUR CLASSIC RIDE W/O THE PROBLEMS OF CUSTOM INSTALLATION.
Works nicely in my '79 TR7
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
The dash cutout in the TR7 is not big enough to accommodate any CD unit so you need a unit like this for a "clean" install. The unit fits nicely and looks good in place.
The unit is adjustable in many ways so it does take some fiddling to get it right. You can vary the shaft spacing and the depth of the control shafts to get them to line up just right in your application. I had to trim the side control brackets to fit in my application. Also the faceplate does not have holes for the control shafts, so all users will have drill holes in it. It's no problem, you just have to measure very carefully for a perfect fit. The adage "measure twice cut once" applies here! I went very slowly and carefully, it took me about 4 or 5 hours to get it just right. But in the end it was worth it, it looks & works great!
Tremendous Solution For My Older Vehicle
'79 Toyota 4X4 pickup. I needed to replace my ancient cassette deck and enter the digital age. DIN chassis is too big. What to do ??? Then I found this wonderful digital player.
Where to begin... The Toy had limited space so I needed a compact unit. This one's tiny. Didn't want or need a cd player. Flash is just fine. Totally customizable install options. I created a faceplate from a template I made from cardboard. I fabbed up my own brackets for the control knobs. I used brass flat stock from the local Hardware. All of this would be useless if it didn't perform well...BUT IT DOES! 25 presets. Intelligent, simple controls. Very intuitive. Powerful clean sound.
I'm so happy that this deck is available for guys like me with older vehicles. Thanks Retrosound and Crutchfield! This one's a homerun!
Model One made my camaro rock!
I picked up one of these when they first came out and I have to say I've been happy with it, the crutchfield guys are helpful and I emailed the support team at retrosound and they helped me out too--- I had a strange ground situation in my car and I resolved it over the phone with one of the techs at retrosound--- I'm happy with the unit and don't have to take my ipod with me when I drive my 67 Camaro!!... the chrome front knobs are cool, it does take some patience to install but it is well worth the effort... very innovative and cool radio---!! think I'll pick up some amps too and really kick it up a notch... have fun out there guys... John

Overview: The Retro Sound Model One is a breakthrough classic car radio offering flexible mounting options using an Infinimount shaft/bracket system (patent pending), Auxiliary Input, USB input for MP3/WMA digital file playback from popular USB flash devices (thumb drives), CD-changer controls and built-in AM/FM tuner. The Model One was created to meet the needs of classic car enthusiasts for a radio that maintains the classic in dash look of the vehicle while offering modern playback capabilities from today's digital music sources. An optional 94" remote mount infrared "eye" (068RSIRCBL, sold separately) even allows for complete hide away placement of the Model One, allowing a completely stock appearance of any car, RV, motorcycle.
Infinimount Shaft/Bracket System: The Infinimount Shaft/Bracket System allows you to mount the Model One radio in more classic cars. This is because the shaft-knobs are not mounted to the unit, but instead connect to the unit via a harness so you can space the radio's shaft knobs at various distances from the chassis of the radio (0.3125"-2.1875") using the supplied side-mount brackets. This insulated bracket and external shaft system also helps to reduce electrical noise inherent in older vehicles.
Available Installation Kits: The included U Bracket allows for under dash mounting options and the unit can be mounted virtually anywhere due to its small 4.075" wide x 6.575" deep x 2.015" tall footprint. Advanced installers can even unscrew the Model One's faceplate and adjust its cant/angle to allow for even more customization. There are multiple vehicle specific faceplate & knob kits available (sold separately), as well as an universal faceplate that fits the Model One which allows you to use the integrated break away tabs to modify all aspects of height & width of the plate, and even drill in your own shaft holes to fit virtually any car. This radio is a true problem solver for tough to fit applications due to its unique bracket system combined with small mounting size. The following Installation Kits are available.
