John Pollard

Are you having trouble finding a place to mount an external antenna on your classic car? Retrosound has your solution. The WPA1 amplified window antenna attaches to your car's window, and it's equipped with separate amplifiers that maximize AM and FM reception. Just attach the antenna to your window with the included adhesive pads, then attach the provided 12-volt wire to a power source, and you're in business. The built-in red LED lights up to tell you that the antenna is on. Warranty: 1 year.

Product Research

Features

Design: The WPA1 is a window mount amplified antenna that can be used in applications where a conventional telescoping or fixed mast antenna is not desired. To improve reception, it's designed with separate amplifiers for the AM and FM bands. There are self-adhesive pads on the back of the antenna to mount it to the interior of a window in your vehicle. The antenna requires a +12 volt DC power source and should be grounded to reduce any potential noise. A red LED confirms that the antenna is on.

Q
How long is antenna cable, diameter of plug in ? How long is power source wire, where should it be connected on 94 Geo ?

A
The power cable and the antenna lead on this antenna is 7'3" long. It is a duplex wire so one lead is the power and one lead is for the antenna. The ground wire is only 6 inches long and it has an eye terminal on the end. If you needed it to be longer you could cut that off and solder a longer extension on there for your ground connection.

application is a 1969 Lotus Europa, a rear engine, fiberglass car. I do not want a hole in the body. I intend to mount the antenna horizontally in the front trunk. How well will it work?

I mounted my antenna in the roof of a 1941 Willys pick up truck with a fiberglass cab. It seems to work just fine no problems. Keep in mind that this is a powered antenna so you will need to run a 12 V supply and a ground wire. I have no complaints. It works fine.

Should I mounted mine on windshield using Trim around post to hide it. Just kept everything inside vehicle so as not to drill through body

It did not work for me. I disconnected it and replaced it with an antenna mounted to fender on car and my radio now receives many channels. The antenna you are asking about was a waste of money.

Im planning on installing a radio 12 volt in my 36 Chev pickup I don't want to drill a hole to mount antenna for fear of chipping new paint job. can I mount antenna on windshield?

Yes if fits nice and snug from the inside. You run it up flush to windshield. It has adhesive that holds really good.

Yes you can mount the Antenna. I mounted the antenna above the rearview mirror mount. This position gets good reception and allows the service wires to be tucked inside the windshield molding. I had to solder extension wire for the ground wire (make sure it's well insulated). get down below the dash level and radio mount.
