The AV6225BH adds even more cool extras without compromising on the price, making this one great investment for your 4" tall dash opening.

An extraordinary phone-friendly A/V receiver value

The folks at Axxera continue to refine their DualMirror™ compatible receivers. Their AV6225BH DVD receiver allows you to mirror your smartphone's screen on its big 6.2" touchscreen, so you can view maps, music info, and much more in sharp detail with just a quick glance. The AV6225BH adds even more cool extras without compromising on the price, making this one great investment for your 4" tall dash opening.

The LED-backlit touchscreen display now comes with 16 million customizable illumination colors to choose from. It also offers icon-based controls which help you pull up sound sources easily. Its MHL-enabled HDMI input accommodates compatible iPhone® or Android™ smartphones. It also comes with Bluetooth®, DVD/CD playback, front and rear USB inputs, and a finger-friendly graphic user interface (GUI). The AM/FM tuner uses RDS technology to show you important information — including traffic reports — from participating stations.

Check out your phone's apps

Axxera's DualMirror function mimics your phone's display on the receiver's bigger display, providing you an easier way to see your apps at a glance. You can check out turn-by-turn directions from your navigation apps, as well as artist and track info from your music apps. You'll still use your smartphone to control the apps, but you won't have to squint at its smaller display.

Take DualMirror for a drive

The AV6225BH's DualMirror function relies on the receiver's rear HDMI input to display your smartphone's apps, while the rear USB port charges your phone. With your smartphone connected, you'll see your apps in action on the receiver's display for easier viewing (although you won't be able to control them through the receiver). Here's the lowdown on what you need depending on your smartphone:

Built-in Bluetooth

The AV6225BH lets you connect to your compatible smartphone with a wireless Bluetooth connection. You'll be able to carry on hands-free conversations using the receiver's included external microphone. And it'll work with most phones for wireless streaming audio, including displaying ID3 tags from your music files, so you can see album, artist, and song title info while on the go.

Rock, jazz, and anything else will sound great

You can also play your MP3 and WMA music using the front USB input and DVD/CD player. You can tweak your music with the 6-band EQ, which includes seven presets to match your favorite style. The built-in sound processor employs Dual EQ software to let you further adjust center frequencies and Q factors for each band. If you're adding amps, the three sets of preamp outputs send out a 4-volt signal that maximizes performance and minimizes noise.

See things anew

Use the AV6225BH's front or rear analog audio/video inputs to hook up your favorite portable audio player, game console, or another video source. This receiver boasts two composite video outputs to send movies to rear video screens, so your passengers will stay happy on the road.

If you've got a big vehicle, you'll appreciate the input for a rear-view camera — helpful for when you're maneuvering your vehicle in tight spaces.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

    Touchscreen & Remote Control

6.2" LCD Touchscreen: The Axxera AV6225BH features a 6.2" LCD touchscreen monitor (800x480) with LED backlighting. This unit's touchscreen controls with interactive video graphics make menu navigation simple and intuitive. You can adjust the screen's brightness, color, contrast, and tint levels. You can also select from three different wallpapers/backgrounds.

Note: For safety reasons, you cannot view a video source on the built-in monitor as long as the vehicle is in motion. In order to display video, the pink wire of the included harness must be hardwired into the vehicle's parking brake light circuit, and the vehicle's parking brake must be engaged. However, mirroring your smartphone through the head unit's DualMirror feature can be done with or without the parking brake engaged.

Hard-Key Controls: In addition to the unit's LCD touchscreen controls, the Axxera receiver also features hard-key controls on the left edge of the screen; including a 3-way rotary dial.

Variable Color Illumination: Offering over 16 million color combinations, the head unit's RGB feature allows you to customize the color illumination for the receiver's hard-key buttons and on-screen icons. Now you'll be able to match the receiver's illumination to your vehicle's interior lighting, or create a color that fits your mood.

IR Remote: The Axxera AV6225BH comes supplied with a 40-button IR remote control which provides wireless operation of the Axxera DVD receiver.

Built-in SWC: The Axxera AV6225BH offers built-in steering wheel remote compatibility with select non-CAN Bus GM, Ford/Lincoln/Mercury, Honda, Kia/Hyundai, Mazda, Nissan, & Toyota/Scion/Lexus vehicles.

Note: This unit only works with analog steering wheel controls; it does not support any data-bus systems. This unit is not compatible with external steering wheel control interfaces.

2-DIN Chassis: The AV6225BH has a 2-DIN chassis (also known as "Double-DIN"), and will fit in many vehicles with a large dash opening. The unit can be ISO-mounted using factory brackets; no mounting sleeve included for Euro-mount.

    Smartphone Integration

DualMirror Input: The Axxera AV6225BH features a rear-panel HDMI audio/video input and USB charging port for connection of select Apple iOS devices and MHL-enabled Android smartphones. You'll be able to listen to audio from stored music and music apps, watch video from stored movies and movie apps, and view navigation apps on your compatible Apple iOS or MHL-enabled Android smartphone, using the head unit's HDMI input and USB (2.1A) charging port (know as the "DualMirror" input). The HDMI connection provides the audio/video playback, while the USB connection charges your compatible Apple iOS or Android device. You will need to purchase additional cables for connection based on your type of smartphone device (see below).

    • Apple iOS Connectivity: If you have a newer Apple iPod touch or iPhone with the Lightning connector, you will need Apple's Lightning Digital AV adapter, Apple's Lightning-to-USB cable, and Dual's mobile-grade DL5i HDMI cable (all sold separately). If you have an older iPhone 4/4S or iPod touch (4th gen) with a 30-pin Dock connector, you will need Apple's Digital AV adapter, Apple's dock-to-USB cable, and Dual's mobile-grade DL5i HDMI cable (all sold separately).
    • Android Connectivity: Most MHL-enabled Android devices, will require Axxera's microUSB 5-pin to HDMI/USB cable (070SL55A, sold separately). If you have a Samsung Galaxy S3/S4/S5 or Note II/III/IV, you will need Axxera's microUSB 11-pin to HDMI/USB cable (070SL115A, sold separately). Click here for a complete list of MHL-compatible smartphones.
    • DualCast WiFi Dongle: To make DualMirror smartphone integration with this Axxera multimedia receiver even more seamless, Dual has introduced the all new DMH25 DualCast WiFi dongle (070DMH25, sold separately) to wirelessly connect your Android smartphone (Jelly Bean 4.2+) or Apple iPhone (iOS 4.2+) to the multimedia receiver.
Notes: Your vehicle's parking brake does not have to be engaged for the DualMirror input to function, so please use caution.

DualMirror 2-Way App (for Android): Download the DualMirror 2-Way App, from the Google Play App Store, onto your MHL-enabled Android (OS 2.0+) smartphone to allow control of the smartphone from the Axxera AV6225BH's LCD touchscreen. In addition, to HDMI & USB connectivity, the DualMIrror 2-Way App requires a wireless Bluetooth connection between your compatible Android smartphone and the AV6225BH in-dash receiver. Control from the head unit's touchscreen is available with or without your vehicle's parking brake engaged, so please use caution.

Note: Even though the AV6225BH will mirror the display of your connected Apple iOS or MHL-Enabled device, it will not always allow you to operate playback functions of your mobile device through the head unit. Apple iOS devices do not support the DualMirror 2-Way app, nor control from the head unit's touchscreen. Some Android devices will not support the DualMirror 2-Way app, nor control from the head unit. These non-compatible 2-way devices, will require control from the mobile device's touchscreen.

Built-in Bluetooth: The Axxera AV6225BH features built-in Bluetooth (v.2.0) Technology. With built-in Bluetooth, you can wirelessly connect your Bluetooth capable mobile phone to listen to calls through your car's audio system. The AV6225BH allows you to carry on a phone conversation from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone using the head unit's integrated front-panel microphone and your car audio speakers. Your car audio speakers will mute automatically during a call.
      • Incoming Calls: The AV6225BH allows you to answer and end a call from the head unit's touchscreen monitor. Incoming phone call information will be displayed on the unit's LCD monitor.
      • Making a Call: You can make a call from the AV6225BH using the unit's on-screen keypad (0-9), your phone's downloaded phonebook, or a call history data log of dialed/received/missed calls.
    • Audio Streaming: The Axxera AV6225BH also allows you to play back stored music and streamed music from your Bluetooth enabled smartphone, tablet, or personal music player using a Bluetooth connection. You can control (Play/Pause/Skip) the music stored on your Bluetooth audio player from the AV6225BH. This unit also displays song/artist information from your connected Bluetooth device.

Note: Before using the unit's Bluetooth functions, you must pair your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone or audio device to the AV6225BH. Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some mobile devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the AV6225BH.

The unit supports playback of MP3/WMA music files, MPEG/divX/Xvid video files, and JPEG photo files stored on a compatible USB MSC device (up to 64GB). 24-Bit DAC: The Axxera AV6225BH DVD receiver utilizes a high-performance 24-bit DAC for high quality sound.

MOSFET Amplifier: The Axxera AV6225BH is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power output specs for the AV6225BH are as follows:

    • CEA2006 Specs: 16 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Maximum Power Output: 85 watts x 4 channels (340 watts total)
Note: The power specifications for the AV6225BH are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers.

4V/6Ch RCA Outputs + Sub Control: The AV6225BH features front, rear and subwoofer 4-volt RCA outputs. The front and rear speaker RCA outputs are balance and fade adjustable; the subwoofer RCA output is non-fading. The subwoofer RCA output offers independent volume control (1-12) and features a built-in low pass filter which can be set to 80, 120, or 160Hz.

Dual EQ: The AV6225BH is equipped with Dual EQ software. The integrated equalizer offers 7 preset sound modes (Pop, Rock, Jazz, Classic, Beat, Flat, or User) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The User mode allows you to manually adjust the head unit's 6-band parametric EQ (Frequency, Q-Factor, & Level).

    Tone
    Frequency Q-factor Level
    Bass Low 60, 80, 100, 200 Hz 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, 2.0 -7 to +7
    Low/Mid
    Midrange Mid 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.5 kHz 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, 1.25 -7 to +7
    Mid/High
    Treble High 10, 12, 15, 17.5 kHz Fixed -7 to +7
    Super High

Loudness: The Loudness feature boosts certain frequencies to produce a well-balanced sound at a low volume level. The Loudness feature can be set to 3 levels and its Center Frequency can be adjusted to 400Hz, 800Hz, 2400Hz, or Flat.

Beep Tones: An audible beep tone confirms each function selection. The beep tone can be disabled/enabled in the Setup Menu.

AM/FM Tuner (w/ RDS): The Axxera AV6225BH features a built-in AM/FM tuner with manual, seek, & preset tuning. The built-in AM/FM tuner allows you to store up to 18 FM station presets and 12 AM station presets. You can tune your presets manually or have the head unit do it automatically. The Local function allows only strong radio stations to be received, blocking stations with weaker signals.

    • RDS: The Radio Data System (RDS) feature displays radio broadcast information such as artist, title, and album when listening to compatible FM stations.
    • European Tuning: You can switch the tuner between USA or European tuning.
    AV Connections

Dual AV Inputs: The Axxera AV6225BH DVD receiver is fitted with two audio/video inputs. There is a front-panel 3.5mm audio/video input for connecting a temporary external AV source, such as a MP3 player or game console. There is also a rear-panel composite video/stereo RCA input for connection of a permanent external audio/video source, such as a Blu-ray player or TV tuner.

Video Outputs: In addition, the DVD receiver features two rear-panel composite video outputs for integration of a ceiling-mounted or headrest entertainment system in your vehicle. The video output will display whatever video signal (DVD or AV-IN) that is being displayed on the head unit's touchscreen monitor. The video out function is not compatible with the unit's HDMI input.

Rear-View Camera Input: The Camera Input consists of a Composite video RCA jack for connecting an optional rear-view back-up camera (sold separately). This RCA input enables you to connect a rear-view camera to display the area behind your vehicle. The increased view encourages and facilitates safer driving. When an optional rearview camera is connected to this unit, the rear view image is displayed on the screen when your vehicle is placed in reverse gear (orange wire of harness must be connected to reverse light wire of vehicle). Automatic video switching takes approximately 1.1 seconds.

Will the bluetooth and other features be compatible with my iPhone 6s? If not, are there any systems that are already compatible with the iPhone 6s?

The Bluetooth should be compatible with almost any capable device. It works well with my Droid and I'd imagine it does the same for an iPhone. As far as the screen copy, I don't know.

Not 100% sure but it should. I am running a 5S and it works just fine. Apple is not changing their protocol on Bluetooth to make your life miserable. Apple doesn't work that way.

No USB video on this unit (at least not with any of my apple devices). No USB audio either for my iPhone 6. HOWEVER the Bluetooth audio and phone work seamlessly. I chose this unit because it has a built in microphone for Bluetooth phone. The dvd video capability is cool but more a novelty than a useful option.

    Q
Will this still play music while screen has navigation mirrored?
    kevin  Dec 27, 2015
    2 answers
    A
What I do is I play music on my phone while also having the GPS up on my phone and use the Dual Mirror function. That way I have the GPS on the head unit screen and am playing my own music at the same time. It works just fine that way. When in Dual Mirror mode it lets you select if the audio source is played from the HDMI input or Bluetooth which you can swap between the two on the fly.
    jason  Feb 29, 2016
    A
The DualMirror feature allows you to "mirror" the screen of select Apple iOS devices and MHL-enabled Android smartphones on the Axxera's screen. However, the AV6225BH will only mirror the display of your connected device, it will not allow you to operate playback functions of your mobile device. So if you have the ability to play music while running GPS simultaneously from your smartphone, you'd have that same ability with this Axxera.

Yes it actually does show this info as long as the radio station you are listening to broadcasts that info in their signal. The radio stations out where I live do and it displays while listening.

Can you watch video or screen mirror while car is in drive?
    ted  Dec 23, 2015

    A
We do not have information on playing videos while the vehicle is in motion as it is illegal in almost every state. Due to safety concerns the unit needs to be connected to the parking brake lead for video to function with parking brake set.

No, You would have to run an extension from the USB on the back. I ran to the glove box and just plug my phone it there and go.

    Q
How do I use the dual screen feature? It says how to install the cord in the manual, but not how to make it work. I have the right cord, I have it connected right, I just don't know how it works. Maybe it's my phone? I have a LG Volt (Android) Please write back.

I was able to get my phone to work. My phone has an HDMI output, which is what I used. The mini usb output will only provide power to the phone. No special setup, once connected you should be able to mirror your phone. I have a motorola phone. Not sure if LG has a hdmi video output.

It must be compatible. Usually android 4.2 or newer. You can check this in your phone settings. Also you can find a list of dual mirror capable phone. Google is your friend here.

I have an iPhone and was able to connect for the Dual Mirror feature. I did consult with a Crutchfield agent about getting the correct AV adaptor for my iPhone.

Will this head unit connect with factory backup camera? Or does it come with another camera?

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.
