Our take on the Dual BP1204

Dual's BP1204 bandpass subwoofer enclosure does more than just pump out great bass — its Illuminite lighting system provides a cool blue glow that makes your vehicle look as great as it sounds. The enclosure features a 12-volt input for powering the Illuminite system, plus an on/off toggle switch so you can control the action. Built-in protection circuitry keeps your system safe as you cruise.

Dual's hard-hitting 12" subs feature polypropylene cones with brushed chrome finish, plus stamped steel baskets and foam surrounds for stability and control. This efficient enclosure also features a pair of 12" polypropylene drivers, plexiglas viewing windows, mirrored chambers, and a carpet covering. Pair this box with a suitable amp to get the show started — it'll be like a concert in your car.

Notes

Features

Solid MDF Construction: The enclosure is constructed of MDF (medium-density fiberboard), which resists flexing and has anti-resonant qualities.

Illuminite Blue Lighting: The enclosure has blue lighting built into the speaker grilles and mirrored surfaces inside the box to reflect the light. A 12 volt terminal to power the lights is on the back of the enclosure. The lighting elements are not replaceable.

Molded Plexiglas Window: The enclosure has a molded Plexiglas front window and top-panel that allow you to see the woofers and the blue lighting.

Heavy-duty Carpeting: The enclosure is finished with heavy-duty carpeting for superior durability.

Speaker Terminal: A single pair of spring terminals on the back of the enclosure supplies the signal to both drivers. The woofers are wired to present a 4Ω load. The terminal will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs, or bare wire up to 12 gauge.

Notes

Installation Note: There are screw terminals on the back panel of the enclosure to supply 12-volt power and ground for the lighting. Below the terminals is an on/off switch.

Power Handling Note: The enclosure (total for both woofers) can handle up to 600 watts RMS; 1100 watts peak.

Impedance: The two woofers are wired together and present a 4Ω load at the single terminal cup.

Written By Branson, Charlotte, NC on Sunday, April 17, 2011

The Dual BP's sound good. Nice hit to them and the blue neon looks great. I

very nice

Written By tball, texas on Tuesday, November 09, 2010

I just put these in myself and i must say they are very nice. I have them in a 2002 suburban
with a 1000watt bazooka amp. They hit hard enough for people to notice and to shake the
car. Well worth the money. I haven't hooked the lights up yet but once i do it'll look LAGIT. I
would definitely recommend these to someone who is just starting with some subs.

Great Subs, Great Price

Written By Bobby, NC on Saturday, March 20, 2010

Definitely worth the money. I have mine running off a 1200 watt amp and I can bounce water bottles off the roof of my jeep. I also hooked the lights up to a street glow lighting interface and they can either be on or flash with the music. I reccomned these all the way!

They Blew Out

Written By , Craig, Alaska on Friday, November 06, 2009

I had these subs for 2 months. A couple of days ago the left sub blows out and fills my truck
with smoke. The right one still worked for about 2 days and then blew out just like the other
sub. So, these subs are not that great and I guess cannot take very much power.

These are awesome

Written By Eric, Woodbury Heights, NJ on Tuesday, September 15, 2009

Ok, well I love my new subs. They hit hard enough to satisfy me, but aren't insanly too much that Im getting the cops called on me. These subs make a great addition to any vehicle and I highly recommend this product and this website. Shipped in 5 days and I installed them myself. The lights make a great addition to the already existing lights I have already installed.

Dual BP1204

Written By Dylan, Sebastopol, CA on Monday, March 23, 2009

This is a great addition for anybody looking for solid bass and an extra light feature. The lights are pretty cool. Too bad you can't hook them to your amp to light up everytime the bass hits.

Undecided about the duals.

Written By xjjjustinx, Carson, NV on Sunday, March 22, 2009

These are good; but they are not great. If you want something that dumps hard. these aren't for you. Realistically the only cool thing is they light up! I have them in my Jeep Cherokee Chief. They dump hard, and rattle the heck out of my jeep, but they don't pick up the lows very, if at all. When they are up all the way, they're not to clean. Although for me though I listen to rock, and I'm happy with them, plus everyone thinks they're tight cause they light up. For the money it's worth it, and eventually I'm going to swap out the actual duals and mount some better subs in the same box. Go for it if you're on a budget.

The type of bass you get from your component subwoofer doesn't depend on the woofer alone. You'll need a strong, tightly constructed enclosure for optimum subwoofer performance.
