Features

Overview: The Fujinon XF35mmF1.4 R is a standard fixed focal length lens with a bright aperture of f/1.4. It has a Fujifilm X-mount, and is designed exclusively for Fujifilm X-mount cameras, such as the X-Pro1. Its 35mm focal length is equivalent to 53mm in 35mm photography, similar to that of the human eye. The XF35mmF1.4 R is ideal for portraits, landscapes, and general photography.

Note: The lens is not compatible with X-mount film cameras.

Optics: The XF35mmF1.4 R has 8 elements in 6 groups. It uses a glass molded aspheric lens at the 5th element for achieving beautiful out-of-focus bokeh, as well as excellent in-focus reproduction to create a natural sense of depth, according to the aperture setting.

Lens Hood: The XF35mmF1.4 R comes with a lens hood to reduce glare and to protect the front element. When attached, the lens hood adds almost 13/16" to the overall length of the lens. Because of its rectangular shape, the lens hood comes with a separate hood cap.

Specifications:

  • Focal Length (35mm equivalent): 35mm (53mm)
  • Lens Construction: 8 elements in 6 groups (including 2 aspherical elements)

Fuji x35/1.4 shines

Written By Rick, New York on Sunday, March 22, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Fuji 35/1.4 lens. The perfect lens from Fuji. It makes beautiful pictures. If you get one lens, this is it. Must have. Just go out, get one and start taking pictures.

Pros: Low light, beautiful bokeh, sharp, sharp, sharp lens wide open, perfect angle for just about everything..., right size and weight to walk around on your camera on a daily basis. The perfect lens.

Cons: Little to none

Shipping was great. Outstanding lens. There is just something special about the pictures taken with it...especially at 1.4. Love it. A+

Sharp and nice bokeh

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Lens is very sharp even at 1.4. Has really nice shallow depth of field, similar to using a 50mm f2ish lens on a full frame camera. Only thing i would change is the autofocus could be a little faster and quieter. Plus I prefer the aperture ring on the x100 which positively clicks into full stops. This has 1/3 stops which is nice but it's a little hard to feel exactly how far you are turning it.

Pros: Sharp, shallow depth of field, low distortion, reasonably priced given performance

Cons: Af and aperture ring

My favorite

Fuji XF 35mm 1.4 Lens

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This lens equates to a 50mm for full frame images. Lens is wildly sharp and has a very beautiful bouquet for out of focus background. Super nice hood and cap and great controls. So user friendly and the image results jump off the screen. I use a Nikon D800e and this lens and camera are a super fit in my camera case.

Pros: Sharp images, beautiful bouquet, fast focus, great controls, solidly made, hood and cap are a beautiful finishing touch.

Cons: None .....

Excellent lens

Fujifilm Fujinon XF 35mm f/1.4 R

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If you've read all of the reviews, you know what the general consensus is. This lens is darn sharp, though the AF is a tad slow, and the fly-by-wire manual focus/aperture ring isn't the easiest thing to get used to (if you've come from a DSLR, that is). Speaking of the aperture ring, the "notches" for each stop and 1/3 stop feel a little too slick, so it's easy to slide it out of aperture if you're not paying attention. If you do everything right though, and you get over the minor quibbles I just listed, it's quite the lens.

Pros: Sharp, smooth, MF ring can be good for macro, if that's your thing.

Cons: Aperture ring is too smooth, fly-by-wire system takes some getting used to, manual focusing takes forever if you're not shooting macro.
