Accele DVD9800

The Accele DVD9800 is designed to fit snugly to almost any headrest.

Let Accele entertain you

Keep the kids in the backseat riveted with Accele's DVD9800 universal headrest monitor and media player. They'll see their favorite content on a vivid 9" LCD screen, and they can listen with the built-in speakers, with headphones (not included), or through your car's speakers for an even more immersive experience.

But what will you watch?

Accele builds a DVD player into the monitor, but also gives you an A/V mini-jack, a composite video input, USB, SD, and HDMI inputs for playback from virtually any source. And if you pair this unit with a second DVD9800, Accele provides a cross-connect cable so that both monitors can play content from the same source at once.

Whatever works

Accele designed the DVD9800 to work with a large variety of headrests, even most active headrests. Image rotation lets you mount the unit at different angles if need be. Best of all, no modification to your headrest is necessary, so it's a no-harm-no-foul process if you decide to remove it and put it in another car. Accele gives you a choice of hard-wiring the unit for power or powering it by plugging the included power adapter into your car's 12-volt power point — a great, temporary road trip solution.

And Accele's quick-release mount and single-cable-disconnect makes it easy to disconnect and stash this monitor. That way, would-be theives aren't even tempted.

Yes. They connect together, then you can choose then to play independently or have either unit be the source for the other. It all can be changed in the menu settings.

A
Yes. I've got two of these and there is a cable that let's the units share or stand alone. The cable and guide for wiring is included. I've had them for about a year and they work flawlessly.

Q
I was thinking of purchasing this item and was wondering how anyone who has purchased this hides the wires? I don't know it seems to me that with all the wires hanging down everywhere that it would look tacky?
d  Apr 12, 2016

A
My wife loves that word and agrees it is tacky. Our child has also pulled out the wires. It works well, but not great. A sturdier option than the previous portable DVD player holder that we had bought. This one has not fallen off the headrest onto our child like the other one did
frank  Apr 15, 2016

Currently we are using this device for a rear facing car seat so all wires run down the backside of the back seat to an outlet in the cargo area of our SUV. Unfortunately, until we mount the device on the front seat headrest for forward facing usage, we won't know how the wiring will be trained. I assume we will run the wires down through the top of the seat, out the bottom and into a power source in the back seat area or directly into the fuse panel.
robin  Apr 13, 2016

I have two of these in the back of my 2015 Rogue. I ran the wires through the hole at the top of the seat alongside the headrest inserts and fished them through the bottom and connected wiring under center console. Wires completely hidden and out of reach for rear passengers. Very clean look. Most seats on later model vehicles have a zipper to open space to gain access inside seat. Be careful metal inside seats are sharp edges.
martin  Apr 13, 2016
A
I have installed two in a jeep. All cables were hidden and routed thought the seat back.
michael  Apr 13, 2016
A
Probably a challenge depending on where you position the screen and your power source. I bought this to be placed on the rear seat head rest for a rear facing car seat. The vehicle was a Nissan Murano with a power source directly behind the rear seat so, very little exposed wiring. The unit does work very well and keeps our granddaughter well entertained on trips. Good luck.
robert  Apr 13, 2016
A
It depends on the car u r installing it in. We installed in a 2013 audi q7 and the front seats have removable back panels so we removed those and ran from there to the center console into the double power outlet.
vladimir  Apr 13, 2016

Hi. I don't think it looks tacky at all. I have the wires tucked between the headrest and monitor and only the one 12v wire coming down from the Unit to the plug when in use. Personally I think this unit looks high end and works great and crutchfields service has been amazing. I had some questions before I ordered and they told me if I didn't like it I could return it but never needed to. I also needed a replacement part as someone with heavy hands broke my 12v plug and it was shipped to me overnight for free. Can't beat that! I would give it a shot. My son loves the games and controller that come with it too. Also it does Come with the tools and option to hardwire which would eliminate the wires and make it less aftermarket. I got a quote to do that and it's about 150 to have it professionally installed which I was going to do if I was bothered by the wires but so far so good. Hope this helps.
sheena  Apr 13, 2016
A
I was able to fish all the wires down along the headrest posts, through the back of the seat, then over to the middle console near the seat rails. From there, I tapped into a 12v supply and connected all the crossover wiring. The only place you can see a wire is down by the floor for about 4 inches. If you take the time, you can make the wiring inconspicuous.

Q
Are they sold in pairs or is this a single unit?

Thanks for your question. This is just one single unit.

Q
What games are on the game disc?
john  Feb 28, 2016
2 answers
A
The games included with these players look to have been specifically developed for this system. They are truthfully of low quality and lag a fair amount. I have two smaller kids who had significant issues working with the games, so we don't really use them. The players have worked flawlessly, though.
timothy  Feb 29, 2016

I apologize, we purchased the DVD player for our 11 month old granddaughter. It installed easily and worked very well for long distant traveling but, she is to young for games. I am unable to help at this time.

I purchased a pair of these for our vehicle, installed them and everything works fine with the exception of getting the built-in speakers to work. I assume there's a toggle buried somewhere in one of the onscreen menus, but I can't seem to find it. I'd consult the manual, but it's written in broken English and refers to onscreen menus that look nowhere near the ones I show. Any ideas?

My unit gets its video/audio feed from the radio head unit and it only plays sound from the internal speakers when the radio head unit source is set to something other than the video.
patrick  May 13, 2015

You have to use the remote, and go into the menu and under the volume menu, the setting it comes on is incorrect as it is set up under outside speakers and you must change that
darci  May 12, 2015

Using the remote, press TF/MENU button, go to SOUND, change IR OUT to OFF.
