Valor puts the emphasis on usability with the DDN-868W navigation receiver, a double-DIN car stereo with a nice-looking 6.2" touchscreen. The large icons and a clean screen layout tell you right away that you won't have to spend much time looking at the manual. Just touch the icon you want for the source or function you need, then dive right in. And this receiver's uncluttered appearance will look right at home in just about any dash.
The nav system's 3 million points of interest will make it easy to find the services you need, and you'll have access to maps of Canada, the entire United States, and Puerto Rico. The text-to-speech function even announces street names when it's time to make a turn, a nice touch when you're staring ahead at three right turns spaced closely together, for example. You'll also find other nice navigation features like Lane Guidance and Signpost, which really help to eliminate the last-minute dash over a lane or two to get to the right exit.
Hands-free calling and music streaming
This receiver's Bluetooth functionality allows you to conduct phone calls with a compatible cell phone without taking your hands of the wheel. And, with one press of a button, you can stream music from a compatible cell phone or other Bluetooth device straight through your car's speakers.
Movies and more in your car
When you're parked, you can watch DVDs on the full-color screen. This receiver also plays compressed video files, so you can load multiple movies onto a hard drive, flash drive, or recordable DVD, instead of carrying multiple discs. You can hook up a monitor to the receiver's audio/video output so your passengers can enjoy a movie while you drive. For entertainment along the way, slip in a CD or DVD loaded with MP3 files, or plug your portable music player into the handy aux input.
Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

Valor DDN-868W Reviews
Average Customer Review:
Valor systems are worthless! I installed it and only kept it for 2 months before switching to a Kenwood. It would freeze up at least once daily requiring a hard reset plus the menu system is poorly thought out. When I bought the Kenwood replacement at a Crutchfield store, I mentioned that it was replacing a Valor, the Salesman just groaned.
Pros: The GPS works well when the system doesn't freeze up.
Cons: It freezes up constantly. The instruction manual was written by someone who obviously doesn't have a good command of English.
Display needs Help!!!
2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I wish the display was easy to view during the day. The glare from the sun makes very hard to see..
Pros: Lots of features for the $$
Cons: Very hard to see the display during daylight hours. Terrible screen glare. Painfully slow navi startup
2008 Ford Taurus
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
my first double din i ever bought and i was disappointed. this unit had alot of glare and slow navigation start up
Pros: big screen.
Cons: too much glare, when your driving on navigation there is no way to turn of the voice from speaking it gets annoying because it stops you from listening to your music while navigating
OK SYSTEM FOR THE MONEY
2005 Ford F-150
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Good value for the money. But the bluetooth did not work well with my iphone 4 . When making a call , the sound had alot of background noises. Everything else worked great.
Pros: Good value for the money, if you want a indash navigation.
Cons: Bluetooth did not good work with iphone 4.. No external mic.
not a good option even if it was far less expensive.
the "equalizer" consists of bass and treble. wow. the nav system has to go through a long launch every time you want to use it, even if you've had the radio playing.
Pros: touch screen works well
Cons: i have never seen a screen that is this light when the power is off. it is very reflective, and is basically unusable in daylight. i am not the type to return a product, but i am going to try.
It's cheaper for a reason
2002 Mercury Mountaineer
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I was very excited to find this unit and its features for the price. However I had seriously bad luck with it. The last straw for me was finding that the unit drew over 300 mA of current on my battery with the key OFF, which was enough to kill it if the car sat for 2 days. I bought a new battery before discovering it was this unit's fault. For reference, without the unit installed, current draw went below 30 mA.
I think if I go with an in-dash navi unit like this again, I'd have to spend more on a "bigger" brand for better luck.
As always, Crutchfield support was awesome during the whole ordeal.
Pros: Price. Size of screen. Many connections in rear. Lots of config menus.
Cons: Terrible screen glare. Painfully slow navi startup. Bogus navi map stops displaying road names when zoomed out a small amount. Large current draw on battery when key is off.
Great Product @ Great Price
All in all this unit is great. It has everything you look for in units 2x the price. One thing that is unlike the more expensive units is the fact the steering wheel control module is built in!
I have owned Pioneer and Kenwood units in the past and they have been great. However, with those great names and good features comes a higher price. Hand-Down this Valor offers the best value you could possibly ask for.
Pros: The Valor Headunit is an excellent buy. You get so much bang for your buck it isn't funny. The Tuner is spot on and crystal clear, the DVD player is 2nd to none and the on-screen controls are great, Bluetooth built-in w/ an on board Mic make install easy, A2DP on a Head Unit in this price range is INSANE!!!, SD Card for Music, Videos etc. is standard, but the real kicker is GPS NAV all packed into a clean quick to boot interface.
Cons: It is a little annoying that each "module" of the unit boots independently. This means if you are listening to the Radio you get instant turn on when your car is on. Navigation is booted up separate and requires 2 key presses before it loads, likewise for DVD.
Nice and easy to use
I really like the units from Valor. This is my second one so far. This one looks great and so far I'm really liking it. the navigation system is very easy to use, accurate, and has been spot on for the trips I've made. The text to speech voice is great, and very helpful when you're in an unfamiliar area. It's getting 5 stars from me.
gps is lacking
I like almost everything about this unit except the quality of maps is bad. So far everything I've search for direction has been wrong or un able to find. Even using google maps to get the address the trying to in put an address and it tells me the address doesn't exist. I am dissapointed in the gps but all other functions work great.
Also I can't for the life of me figure out how to get map updates.
