Our take on the Valor DTS-603W

The Valor DTS-603W DVD receiver offers everything you need to enjoy movies and music in your car, including all the inputs and outputs necessary to build a multimedia system.

Valor DTS-603W

Written By Jose, Tamuning, Guam on Saturday, February 13, 2010

This Unit for the price is the best you can get. I highly recommend this unit for those looking for a double DIN unit. It's hard to beat the price. Only question would be is how long can it stand the heat inside my car.

Great receiver for the price

Written By Chris, Okc on Sunday, February 07, 2010

Installed in a couple hours thanks to crutchfields master sheet. I had never done a car stereo before and it went beautifully. So many cords in the back that it took a little while to make it fit correctly. The iPhone adapter software sucked but I just played a YouTube video and it went into an override mode and just controlled my 3gs music on the phone from there. Overall the DVD is beautiful. I think that's everything. Very pleased!

Valor DTS-603W

Written By , Nashville, TN on Thursday, January 21, 2010

I installed this head unit in my 2003 Altima. It worked, but after a week the units flaws became more prevalent. Dvds showed well and the radio was very clear. The ipod feature was the most flawed. You can not turn the volume up past half way or else it would start to distort, even when the bass and treble were turned down significantly. Shuffle mode was terrible every time you turn the unit off then on shuffle was off and you have to listen to the very first song on shuffle mode, which was really never shuffled. Cd's played well and sounded better than the ipod at times. There was very little distortion with Cd's, but still could not go past half way on the volume. The touchscreen most of the time was unresponsive. Scrolling with the little knob was a drag because of the double pushing you have to do. Remote sucked even at point blank range. Overall I was excited about getting the unit because of the price and also because it was something different from the stock unit, but after a week I had no choice but to re-install my stock unit.

Can't get a better double din for the money

Written By , Sacramento, CA on Thursday, December 10, 2009

Installed this in my Tacoma. Fits beautifully! Install was very easy with the supplied
harness. I can't believe how easy it was to install this unit by myself. Just getting used to
the interface, but so far I'm very please with my purchase. Even though I've never heard of
Valor, I decided to take a chance as the price couldn't be beat. Thanks again Crutchfield for
a great Black Friday deal!!!

Not Worth Your Time

Written By tower, Houston, TX on Friday, November 21, 2008

I've worked with a few of these radios now, and like most of Valor's products, I'm far from satisfied. It has an excellent price point and plenty of I/O options, but is seriously lacking in the quality department. I've sent off more than one of these for repairs, mostly for rejecting CD/DVD's and
software issues. Not to mention its not exactly in-depth in the fine-tuning department.

Do yourself a favor and spend the extra $200 on a real brand name. Its not worth the warranty hassle.

Its great

Written By Kyle, RI, USA on Thursday, August 14, 2008

After much debate and looking at simmilar steros on crutchfield which were
much more expensive I finally decided to buy this. Today I installed it and it
looks and works like a dream. The interface is clean and polished. The
touch screen response is good. No radio station ID but with full access to
an IPod who needs a radio. All connections are made from the back so no
wires are showing. Its just a good stero. But I've only had it a day. If
anything goes wrong Ill be sure to post back.

You Get What You Pay For

Written By Conrad, Georgia on Monday, July 14, 2008

I bought this unit in July of 2007, Ive already had to send it in for repair
twice. When it works Im pleased with it. DVD playback is good, and I was
able to navigate my full IPOD menu, and it also played the video from the
IPOD. The internal amplifier could have been a little stronger but I could
live with that. My main issue with this unit was its durability. I'll probably
start looking for a top end unit with similar features.
