Valor Multimedia

Our take on the Valor ITS-702W

The Valor ITS-702W DVD receiver has everything you need to build a multimedia system in your vehicle. It'll play all your DVDs and CDs, including discs you've loaded with MP3 and WMA files. You can attach your iPod to the included cable, and control your playlists from the touchscreen. And an impressive number of inputs and outputs allow you to expand your system.

Your movies come through bright and clear on the motorized, 7" LCD screen when you're parked, and you can also use the touchscreen to scroll through menus. A built-in Dolby Digital stereo processor makes your movie soundtracks and music sound great, with front, rear, and sub preamp outputs on board when you're ready to add more power to your system.

The ITS-702W includes an audio/video input for adding a game console or second video source. You can add rear seat video screens to the receiver's video outputs, and keep your passengers entertained while you drive. The optional rear camera will help you keep an eye on what's behind your vehicle, a big plus if you drive a large vehicle or tow a boat or trailer.

Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.

Valor ITS-702W

Not bad. A little slow (like changing tracks and /or other sources) but the sound and picture are good for a low priced head unit.

Unusable iPod Interface

Written By No, Sacramento, CA on Wednesday, December 09, 2009

If you plan on buying this for the iPod interface I wouldn't waste my time. First the iPod controls will not let you play an artist whose name starts with a number. Instead it will play a random song on your iPod. Also if you have too much music on your iPod then the stereo will refuse to play anything. Which according to Valor is due to a hardware limitation of the stereo which you won't find listed anywhere. So if you have a small iTunes Library, don't plan on adding more music, don't have any artists that start with a number, or listen to only playlist then this is the perfect stereo for you.

Poor Unit - Valor Customer Service!

Written By Ruggled, Henderson, NC on Friday, June 19, 2009

I purchased this unit October, 2008 and have had continuous problems from the first month. The iPod interface has had many issues such as displaying a song that is different than what is playing; going into a 'random scan' mode that can only be stop by discontinuing the iPod and the fact that the latest generation iPods will not charge while hooked up. Sound quality is what I expected with an entry level unit. DVD/CD motor is noisy. But the REAL PROBLEM is Valor's customer service, or should I say, lack of customer service. Multiple attempts at e-mail communications about the issues were unsuccessful and calling was not much better. They finally sent a CD to upgrade the firmware, which did not fix any of the problems. Eventually, the interface simply quit working, so I sent the unit back for service (despite the fact that they would not give me a turn-around date). TODAY, they told me that it could be MONTHS before they had a new unit to replace the one I sent in. After a bit of discussion, they offered a refurb unit, which I reluctantly accepted because it was better than waiting for months - I think!

Good but has some ipod issues

Written By vassago, MA on Friday, April 10, 2009

So the hookup of this radio went well and there are a lot of connections. Which is all good, but now after using it, there are some issues. I have a 120 gig Ipod classic(6th Gen). When i use the shuffle feature through the radio, the radio will play the same song 8/10 times. If i manually shuffle, then it works 9/10 times. Also the radio lags when changing songs, so it will display one song, but be playing the next. Valor is sending me a software update for it, but they admit it may not fix the issue. It may be the fault of the ipod being "To Large"

Great Product

Written By Daniel, APO AE on Sunday, March 15, 2009

I am based overseas at a US military installation. I purchased this product solely by reading the information on the web site at Crutchfield. It is perfect in all aspects, exactly what I was looking for. It receives the USA or European radio stations with ease. One thing could be improved upon, that is adding the capability to receive the traffic announcements over the station while playing a DVD, radio or CD. I had put up with the factory radio long enough here in Europe. Thanks to Crutchfield for being there for me. I will pass your website on to other people int this area. Keep up the good support.

Awesome Unit- Valor ITS-702W ROCKS!!!

Written By Steve, Boston, MA on Monday, March 02, 2009

I bought this unit based on the feedback, features and price. I was not disappointed. In fact, I was totally impressed. The unit functions perfectly, sounds great and the video quality is awesome. Usually the "you get what you pay for" proverb is true, but in this case it is not- in fact- YOU WIN. The Valor ITS-702W is an excellent unit, made of very high quality materials and sells for half the price of comparably featured head units. You can't go wrong. The Ipod cable was included FREE with this unit. My Ipod - 80GB Video (5th Gen.) with almost 18,000 songs and many videos. The unit handles all my Ipod functions with ease and the videos look awesome.

I installed this unit into my Jeep Wrangler along with some great marine grade Polk speakers made for the unique factory replacement needs of a Wrangler (4x6's in the dash and 5 1/4's in the roll bar). This system cranks out loud, high quality sound without any amps or additional speakers. I wish I could take you for a ride in my Jeep (with the top down, of course) and show you this system in person. I guarantee your next call would be to Crutchfield ordering the exact same set up.

A couple issues, but all in all a great unit

Written By Tyler, San Diego, CA on Thursday, February 26, 2009

This unit is great except for a couple things.
1) The antenna is terrible. I can't really pick up a whole lot of radio stations completely clear.
2) The iPod interface acts up from time to time with the iPhone, but for the most part works out great.
3) The touch screen was a little annoying until i figured out the trick. You have to keep your finger on the screen till your selection is highlighted which is good because it keeps from wrong selections.
Other than that, it's a great unit for the price. I am definitely pleased with my purchase.

You get what you pay for

Written By Michael, chesapeake, va on Wednesday, February 11, 2009

Bought this unit for my 01 Dakota because of the low price, knew I may be
gambling on quality. Sound is pretty good, video quality is alright. I'm
planning on installing a subwoofer soon so we'll see how that goes.
-Problems with installation, Crutchfield was a great help
-Had to get firmware upgrade to play iPod, still don't have firmware for iPod
videos.
-Touch screen isn't always accurate or register the touch
-Screen will freeze or open up completely black, have to turn off and back on
-iPod playlist songs will not match song playing sometime, could be iPod i
guess?
-Screen will shake/vibrate sometimes
-Doesn't always turn off with my truck flicking my lights sometimes works, I
think my truck wiring is messed up, haven't heard of anyone else having
this problem

Despite these setbacks I'm satisfied with the product, I did get what I paid
for. Just be aware of this if you plan on purchasing this product
