Our take on the Valor VH-700W

The VH-700W 7" LCD headrest screen from Valor gives your backseat passengers something to look at instead of passing scenery. This entertaining travel companion features a crisp, clear widescreen display that's suitable for viewing from any angle. The adjustable picture display shows videos in fullscreen or normal mode, and even allows image rotation and reversal.

You'll need to provide a video source — you get two audio/video inputs to hook up a DVD player, video game console, or portable video player. The VH-700W's headphone jack lets your passenger connect a set of wired headphones. Valor includes a wireless remote control for convenient setup and operation.

Important Note: You'll have to modify your vehicle's headrests to install this screen. Before ordering, please measure your headrests to make sure that the screen will fit. We recommend hiring a professional if you have no experience with this type of installation.

Features

Overview: The Valor VH-700W is an add-on 7.0" TFT LCD monitor that mounts in the headrest of many vehicles. The VH-700W features two A/V inputs and one headphone output.

LCD Monitor: The Valor VH-700W features a 7.0" wide-screen (16:9) TFT LCD monitor which supports NTSC and PAL from a composite video connection. The 7.0" monitor features a wide-viewing angle of +/-65-degrees horizontal, 65-dgrees from the bottom, and 40-degrees from the top. The LCD monitor features adjustable brightness, contrast, sharpness, hue, and color settings. You can also flip the image upside down or rotate it 180-degrees (clockwise or counter-clockwise).

Screen Modes: You can select one of the following Screen Modes:

  • Normal: displays 16:9 widescreen format pictures that fill the entire screen width and 4:3 (conventional TV) pictures display with black bars on either side
  • Full: expands 4:3 pictures horizontally to fill the entire width of the screen, distorting the picture slightly but retaining full image height

Dual A/V Inputs: The VH-700W comes with a 10' AV/Power cable which features two audio/video inputs that consist of composite video inputs along with stereo RCA audio outputs for connecting external audio/video sources. There is an AV input button on the monitor and the remote control to select which source you want to view.

Automatic Power and AV Switching: The VH-700W can be set to automatically power on or off according to the input video signal. It can also be set to automatically switch AV inputs according to the input video signal.

Headphone Output: The VH-700W is equipped with a front-panel 3.5mm headphone output for listening to your connected AV source in the backseat of your vehicle. The unit features its own digital volume control so you can adjust the volume of your second zone independently.

Remote Control: In addition to the unit's front-panel controls, the VH-700W comes supplied with a full function IR remote control for wireless operation of the monitor.

Installation: The VH-700W comes supplied with a flush-mount bracket and is designed to be custom installed in the headrest of most vehicles. Cutting of your vehicle's headrests will be required for proper installation (Cutout Dimensions: W=7.375", H=4.9375", D=0.8125"). The monitor will require a 12-volt power and ground connection using the supplied AV/Power cable.

Note: The monitor should be installed where the driver cannot watch or operate the monitor while the vehicle is in motion. It is recommended that all local traffic rules and regulations be checked before beginning the installation.
