Great for the first year
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
This was my 2nd dash cam I've ever owned. This unit has been (relatively) easy to use. As others have noted, the menu system is somewhat confusing, but I was able to make it work. One lesson I've learned from this device and other suction-cup based mounts for other devices: They do not last. My next dash cam will have an adhesive attached mount to the windshield. I took down the suction-cup mount for this camera anytime I was parked out under the sun, but left it up overnight in the garage. Even with this bit of care, it still failed within 6 months. (Sidenote: Be careful about the suction cup failing and dropping the camera. That's what killed my last dash cam, when it landed on the USB power cord connector, snapping it off). What I did to solve this was I tore off the suction cup and filled the cavity with Bondo to give it a solid surface. Then I used some permanent outdoor adhesive tape to attach it to the windshield. It's stayed up there like a champ ever since. The slow death-march has continued, though, in that the image is permanently upside down. I'm not sure when this exactly happened, but I can't get it right-side up again. Yes, I'm aware of the "Rotate" setting in the menus, and that has no effect. I've tried the Reset options, and it's still broken. There's also no firmware updates available on the website. Also, the colors are all washed out too, now. I've reached out to Cobra support. I have low expectations of a fix.
Pros: Easy to use, automatic recording at power on, loop recording, auto-screen off setting
Cons: Durability of mount, durability of unit itself, low capacity SD card included, weak manual
