About the Cobra CDR 810 Dash Cam
The dash cam never blinks
The dash cam never blinks
Exploding meteorites? Crazy drivers and desperate scam artists? Bigfoot by the side of the road? Tornado on the horizon? You'll want some high-definition video of those, preferably with the time and date recorded as well. As you cruise around on your daily adventures, Cobra's CDR 810 Dash Cam will record all that and more, so you can watch and listen to the drive again later, played on your computer or television.
Ready, set, record
You'll find everything you need to get set up and and recording with this package. A clever suction cup mount holds the camera/recorder firmly on your windshield, adjusting to aim the camera where you want. An 8 GB MicroSD memory card comes already installed in the card slot, allowing you to record up to 55 minutes of 1080P HD video right away. The card slot can accommodate up to a 32 GB memory card for longer recordings. The CDR 810 comes set up to start recording as soon as you start your car, so you'll never miss an important event because you forgot to turn the camera on.
Accessories included
The cigarette lighter power adapter comes with a 12-foot cord, which is enough so you can drape it neatly around your windshield for a stealthy installation, instead of having the cord dangle straight down. You can view your recordings on the 2" LCD screen, but you'll better experience the high-def quality of the picture when you show it on a larger display. The package includes a USB cable and an audio/video cable adapter to connect your CDR 810 to a television or a computer.
Recording
The CDR 810 features continuous loop recording which records over the oldest files so you don't waste data storage with insignificant video clips. Pushing the File Lock button saves the sections you want to keep for downloading or editing. A built-in microphone records the video soundtrack — the music you're playing on the radio, or your narration, road-enraged or not, of what's happening as you're driving. You can even rotate the camera and record the official business or shenanigans going on inside your vehicle.
And more
A photograph mode allows you to snap stills, while a motion sensor mode automatically records anything that moves — perfect for spotting parking lot hit and run incidents. The G-Sensor mode automatically saves a recording when it senses that there's been an accident. Infrared LED "headlights" help the camera see better at night.
Warning: The use of this device and/or a windshield mount may be restricted in some states or jurisdictions.

Product Research
Features
Overview: The Cobra CDR 810 professional-grade dash camera can record audio and video as you travel down the highway in up to Full 1080p High Definition. It can also take still images at up to 12M resolution. You can monitor what you're recording on the built-in 2" LCD monitor. The dash cam operates the supplied cigarette lighter adapter, with a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery backup (250-450mAh).
Lens: The camera is equipped with a wide-angle lens with a 140° angle of view. The lens is on a swivel that rotates for front or rear recording. This gives you a wide view of the road, or inside the cab.
Recording Resolution: You can choose from the following resolutions for video or still image recording:
Video Recording | Still Image Recording* |
---|---|
1080PHD: 1920 x 1080 1080P: 1440 x 1080 720P: 1280 x 720 WVGA: 840 x 480 | 12M: 4032 x 3024 8M: 3264 x 2448 5M: 2592 x 1944 3M: 2048 x 1536 |
Recording Time: With the supplied 8 GB microSD card, you can expect approximately 55 minutes of audio/video recording at the highest resolution (1080PHD). The recording time increases to 69 minutes at WVGA resolution.
Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS): The camera has electronic image stabilization to give you smooth recordings, even on rough roads.
Exposure Compensation: If lighting extremes are causing your recordings to be over- or under-exposed, you can apply exposure compensation for better images. You can apply -2EV to +2EV in 0.5 EV increments.
Infrared LEDs: The camera uses 4 infrared LEDs around the lens to allow you to record both day and night.
Time/Date Stamp: As the CDR 810 records, a time/date stamp is embedded on all recordings.
microSD Card: The audio and video are recorded onto a microSD memory card up to 32 GB. The supplied 8 GB microSD card is removable, allowing you to use other cards, if desired.
Continuous Loop: The CDR 810 will record in a continuous loop, overwriting old footage when the card becomes full until you save it. A built-in G-Sensor can detect when a collision has occurred and will automatically save your recording.
Audio/Video Output: The unit has a 3.5mm mini-jack audio and video output. With the supplied AV cable, you can view your videos/photos on a TV or monitor. You can select NTSC or PAL video format.
USB: The unit's USB port can be used to connect to your PC for file transfer, or to power the unit for recording or playback. The menu allows you to select Mass Storage to view files, or USB Charge to power the unit.
Backup Battery: The built-in Lithium-Ion battery is intended to operate the unit for 15 seconds after a power loss due to an accident or a crash. If the unit is turned on without the Cigarette Lighter adapter attached, you can manually start recording for approximately 1.5 hours on battery power. To conserve power, the screen will turn off after 30 seconds.
Mounting: The CDR 810 comes with a suction cup mounting bracket. The bracket has a ball/socket adjustment to allow you to position the camera for best visibility.

The Cobra dash cam was my final choice after reserching a few other brands. After a couple of weeks using it every day, I new that was the right choice. The videos were clear even at nights. The fact that I could use it outside of the car is a pluse.
