Features
12-Band Radar/Laser Detection: The Cobra
XRS-9940 detects 12-bands, including 6 Radar
Bands (X-band, K-band, Ka Superwide band, Ku-band, VG-2 System, and Spectre 1 System), 4 Laser (LIDAR) Systems
(LTI 20-20 Laser, Ultra-Lyte Laser, ProLaser, and ProLaser III), and 2
Safety systems (Safety Alert, Strobe Alert). The unit's extra detection range
provides advanced warning.
S-XRS Technology: The XRS-9940 is equipped with Super-Xtreme Range
Superheterodyne Technology, with super-fast sweep circuitry, to provide maximum
detection range, and the best possible advance warning to even the fastest of
the instant-on radar guns.
ExtremeBright DataGrafix Display: The unit features a
bright, full-color, 1" OLED display, with Datagrafix icons providing enhanced
data display. You can choose from 5 different color schemes to match your dash
illumination: red, blue, orange, green, or multi-color. You can also choose
between 3 levels of brightness, and the length of time before the display
timeout takes effect: 15 or 30 seconds, 1 or 3 minutes, or Always on. When the
display times out, it goes dark, except for one pixel.
Instant On/Pop Alert:
The detector is designed to detect Instant-On
speed monitoring signals, which suddenly appear at full strength. Pop Alert
provides protection against the new K & Ka Pop mode (single pulse) radar gun signals and provides super-fast, instant-on
detection. During a Pop alert, the detector will continue to detect other
signals. Note: Radar guns have a much shorter range when in the Pop mode,
so appropriate action should be taken immediately whenever a Pop alert is given.
Strobe Alert:
The XRS-9940 will give you advanced alert of the presence and/or approach of
emergency vehicles. This is a Cobra exclusive that works with the tens of
thousands of emergency vehicles currently equipped with traffic light
controlling strobe emitters, which activate red lights at traffic
intersections in emergency high speed situations.
Safety Alert:
The Cobra XRS-9940 will give you advanced alert of the presence and/or approach of
emergency vehicles, trains, and road hazards from systems equipped with Safety Alert
Traffic Warning System transmitters.
Visual Alerts: The display includes the type of signals
detected and numbers from one (weakest) to five (strongest) to indicated the
strength of the signal detected, and the relative proximity to the target.
Voice/Tone Alerts:
You can set the unit to sound alerts and confirm user settings with either a
Voice or a Tone alert. The Voice Alert provides voice messages, in addition to
tones. Tone Alert provides tones only.
LaserEye:
The top-mounted LaserEye provides you with 360° degree detection of laser signals.
When mounting the unit, you much make sure the LaserEye has a clear view to the
front and rear of the vehicle.
VG-2/Spectre
1 Protection:
The XRS-9940 is undetectable by VG-2 and Spectre 1 radar detector detection
devices and will alert you when such devices are in use near your vehicle.
During a VG-2 or Spectre 1 alert, the unit continues to detect other signals.
You can choose whether or not you want the unit to show VG-2 and Spectre 1
alerts and whether or not to sound audible alerts.
Easy-Set
Programming: Easy-Set Programming gives you quick and easy access to
all the settings on the unit. The Menu is divided into two sections:
- User Settings: City Mode, IntelliMute, Auto Mute, Alert Type,
Show Compass, SmartPower, Display Timeout, Display, Color Theme, Car
Voltage, Warn Low Car Voltage, Restore Default Settings
- Alert Settings: Pop Detection, X-band, K-band, Ku-band, VG-2,
Spectre 1, Safety Alert
"System Ready" Prompt: This is a notification
function which alerts the user that the radar detector has correctly completed a
self-test and is ready.
SmartPower: The SmartPower
feature, when activated, puts the unit into Standby mode for about 15 minutes
after the car's engine has been turned off. After 30 minutes in Standby mode,
the unit will automatically shut off.
Audio Muting: You may choose
between Auto Muting and Manual Muting. In Auto Mute mode, the alerts will be
heard at the regular volume for 4 seconds, then automatically reduced to a lower
level. When manually muting, you must press the Mute button while a signal is
being received. This will reduce the volume of the alert in progress. The volume
will return to normal for the next signal.
IntelliMute: IntelliMute allows you to avoid alerts you don't need to hear because you are
either stopped or moving slowly. By sensing the "revs" (RPMs) of the
engine, IntelliMute knows that you are driving at a low speed and automatically
mutes all alerts (except for strobe signals from emergency vehicles). You must
first set an activation point for your engine's revs, and when the revs go below
that point, IntelliMute begins muting. Once set, the activation point is stored
in memory.
IntelliShield: The XRS-9940 features IntelliShield to reduce the number of false alerts in
densely populated areas caused by microwave relay towers and automatic door
openers. In addition to a Highway mode, the unit has three levels of City modes:
- City X: sounds a single
beep when the X-band signal is first detected. The alert then sounds when
the signal strength reaches Level 3
- City X Beep Off: prevents
all X band audio alerts until the signal strength reaches Level 3
- City X+K: combination of
City X mode with prevention of K band audio alerts until the signal strength
reads Level 2
8-Point Electronic Compass: The
XRS-9940 includes a 8-point electronic compass that automatically
provides an accurate direction reading.
External Speaker Jack: You can
connect an external speaker or earphone if the detector is to be used in an environment with
high ambient noise levels. A 2.5mm sub-mini jack is provided.
Mounting: You
will get optimum performance from the detector if you mount it at a point
approximately in the center of the vehicle, as low as possible on the front
windshield without obstructing the view of the road to the front or rear. The
detector can be mounted in two ways:
- Dashboard Mount:
Using the supplied Velcro pad, you can attach the detector to the
dashboard.
- Windshield
Mount: The supplied windshield mount adheres the detector to the
windshield with two suction cups. The angle can be adjusted for best
visibility.
