Overview

Our take on the Focal K2 Power 130KRC

The K2 Power 130KRC 5-1/4" speakers bear the hallmarks of Focal's "Power Hi-Fi" philosophy. Nimble woofers, made from Aramid, foam, and glass fibers, demonstrate the control needed to reproduce delicate classical passages, yet they'll handle the power needed to drive your bass-heavy music with authority. The sturdy zinc-aluminum alloy baskets are non-magnetic so they won't interfere with the speaker's own electronics.

During the hands-on production process, they test every model meticulously to ensure that they meet Focal's exacting standards.

Inverted dome tweeter design

Inverted dome tweeter design

Focal's inverted dome tweeters act like little woofers, dispersing the highs in a wide pattern to create an exceptionally natural soundstage. The external K2 Power crossovers use hand-made components developed by Focal to deliver an ideal blend of the highs and lows for a dynamic stereo image. Three levels of tweeter control let you dial in the sound to your car's environment.

Awesome speakers. Sound quality is exceptional. Installed in 2010 Regular cab Silverado along with Kenwood 9960, Focal K2 Power 165KR in front doors, Focal K2 Power 130KRC for rear fill, JL 12" sub, JL500/1 and JL300/4. Unbelievable sound quality with any genre of music.

Flawless

Donnie from Tylertown,MS on 5/7/2014

I purchased these to replace a set of Polk bd series speakers. These did not fit my car without modification, but it was well worth it. They are in a Nissan Versa hatchback. The Focal speakers performed so well that I thought I was in someone elses car. The bottom line is this, if you can, get yourself a pair and have a smile on your face like me.

Pros: Outstanding sound and performance. Crutchfield tech was correct. The sound from these Focal speakers blow me away each time I hear them.

Cons: You will not want to settel for anything less.

stellar sound, but not as good as the 130KR in my rear placement. One of my speakers DIED at five months. We will see how the warranty process fares. I can't see replacing a speaker every five months, no matter how much I like the sound. It would be a five star rating were it not for the failure.

Speaker Features
Crossover Features

Speaker Features

K2 Woofer Cone: The woofer cone is a sandwich composite consisting of a foam core, a structural glass fiber bottom layer, and a Kevlar top layer. This combination of materials results in a rigid, light weight cone with excellent damping characteristics.

Surround: The butyl rubber surround is resistant to ultraviolet rays, temperature extremes, and humidity to add to the speaker's reliability and longevity.

Zamak Basket: The woofer features a cast Zamak basket. Zamak is a rigid alloy of Zinc, Aluminum, Magnesium, and Copper. Zamak is non-magnetic.

Inverted Dome Tweeter: The tweeter is an Aramid fiber inverted dome, producing a broad sound stage. The tweeter has a Neodymium magnet to provide a powerful magnetic field for the voice coil, while still maintaining the tweeter's compact dimensions. The tweeter rotates on its post, so it can be pointed toward the listener.

Crossover Features

Crossover: Focal uses audiophile grade polypropylene capacitors and air core inductors in the crossover to ensure high definition and a dynamic sound quality. You can adjust the output level of the tweeter on the crossover to -6 dB, -3 dB, or 0 dB.

Crossover Slopes: The crossover uses 2nd order, 12 dB per octave low-pass and high-pass filters. The crossover frequency for both is 5,300 Hz.

Wiring: The crossovers' woofer and tweeter outputs are hardwired; the 12" output wires have female quick slide terminals that plug into the terminals on the speakers. The inputs are also hardwired; the 12" input wires have no terminals.

Dimensions:

  • Width: 2.170"
  • Height: 1.115"
  • Depth: 4.445"
