Focal's Polyglass CVX speakers use precision craftmanship and advanced materials to make a strong sonic impression. These sturdy 2-way speakers bring superb sound quality to the factory speaker locations in your vehicle.

The 165 CVX 6-3/4" speakers feature a Polyglass cone that's created by depositing a layer of hollow glass microbeads over a layer of cellulose pulp. This unique material combines the warm sound of cellulose with the incredible strength of glass, for a cone that responds rapidly with extremely low resonance. A butyl rubber surround helps control cone movement and promotes high power handling. The ABS plastic basket provides a strong, non-resonant housing for accurate, uncolored sound.

Focal designed the aluminum inverted dome tweeter to disperse high frequencies evenly for a big, open soundstage. You can rotate the tweeter to improve definition in your listening positions. The built-in 2-way crossover ensures a smooth transition from lows to highs, so vocals and instruments sound natural. Grilles are included.

Note: Focal describes this model as a 6-1/2" speaker. Most manufacturers designate this same frame size as a 6-3/4" speaker. For simplicity's sake we list it as a 6-3/4" speaker.

Why replace your factory speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers will blow your mind. I can hear instruments that were silent on other speaker sets. These speakers really stand way above the rest. If you want to experience true music then I insist you purchase a pair of focal speakers. Do your ears a favor.

Pros: Everything about these speakers are flawlessly superb...outstanding

Cons: Not a single complaint whatsoever.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Put a set of these in my 2002 Trailblazer and bought them for the front, but ended up installing them in my rear doors with a little modification of my own. I just cut out some plastic tabs that were preventing them from going in all the way, and presto, they fit!! Which was excellent because I had a pair of Kickers in the front doors that I ended up leaving there. Between my JVC head unit, the Sound Ordinance powered sub, and now these Focals and my Kickers, I finally have a nice sounding system in my truck. And thank you again Crutchfield, for coming through with sound advice once again!!

Pros: Nice mids, nice quality, would recommend

Cons: None yet

Features

Polyglass Cone: The woofer cone has a cellulose pulp base and is coated with a uniform deposit of hollow glass microballs. The addition of the Polyglass layer significantly increases the cone's rigidity without adding much weight. This combination takes advantage of the accuracy and neutrality of the hard outer surface, but maintains the superior damping characteristics of the cellulose pulp.

Surround: The butyl rubber surround is resistant to ultraviolet rays, temperature extremes, and humidity to add to the speaker's reliability and longevity.

Basket: The woofer features a basket made of 20% fiberglass filled ABS.

Voice Coil: The voice coil is wound around a 1" diameter low-mass Kapton former, ensuring no coil deformation.

Inverted Dome Tweeter: The tweeter is an inverted aluminum dome, producing a broad sound stage. The tweeter rotates on its post, so it can be pointed toward the listener.

Crossover: The 12 dB/octave crossovers built onto the back of the speaker use audiophile grade polypropylene capacitors and air core inductors to ensure high definition and a dynamic sound quality.
