K2 Power speakers — engineered for superb sound

The K2 Power 165KRC 6-1/2" speakers bear the hallmarks of Focal's "Power Hi-Fi" philosophy. Nimble woofers, made from Aramid, foam, and glass fibers, demonstrate the control needed to reproduce delicate classical passages, yet they'll handle the power needed to drive your bass-heavy music with authority. The sturdy zinc-aluminum alloy baskets are non-magnetic so they won't interfere with the speaker's own electronics.

Inverted dome tweeter design

Inverted dome tweeter design

Focal's inverted dome tweeters act like little woofers, dispersing the highs in a wide pattern to create an exceptionally natural soundstage. The external K2 Power crossovers use hand-made components developed by Focal to deliver an ideal blend of the highs and lows for a dynamic stereo image. Three levels of tweeter control let you dial in the sound to your car's environment.

Speaker Features

K2 Woofer Cone: The woofer cone is a sandwich composite consisting of a foam core, a structural glass fiber bottom layer, and a Kevlar top layer. This combination of materials results in a rigid, light weight cone with excellent damping characteristics.

Surround: The butyl rubber surround is resistant to ultraviolet rays, temperature extremes, and humidity to add to the speaker's reliability and longevity.

Zamak Basket: The woofer features a cast Zamak basket. Zamak is a rigid alloy of Zinc, Aluminum, Magnesium, and Copper. Zamak is non-magnetic.

Inverted Dome Tweeter: The tweeter is an Aramid fiber inverted dome, producing a broad sound stage. The tweeter has a Neodymium magnet to provide a powerful magnetic field for the voice coil, while still maintaining the tweeter's compact dimensions. The tweeter rotates on its post, so it can be pointed toward the listener.

Crossover Features

Crossover: Focal uses audiophile grade polypropylene capacitors and air core inductors in the crossover to ensure high definition and a dynamic sound quality. You can adjust the output level of the tweeter on the crossover to -6 dB, -3 dB, or 0 dB.

Crossover Slopes: The crossover uses 2nd order, 12 dB per octave low-pass and high-pass filters. The crossover frequency for both is 5,300 Hz.

Wiring: The crossovers' woofer and tweeter outputs are hardwired; the 12" output wires have female quick slide terminals that plug into the terminals on the speakers. The inputs are also hardwired; the 12" input wires have no terminals.

Dimensions:

  • Width: 2.170"
  • Height: 1.115"
  • Depth: 4.445"

A
They will have to have an amp of some sort, either separate or in the head unit
bert  Feb 12, 2019
A
No! They are great speakers but do require an amp
david  Feb 09, 2019
A
Sure but most F150's have a factory amp anyway. These are a great upgrade from stock hope this helps
mike  Feb 08, 2019
A
Nope

Good Morning, Yes you can use these without an amp, But for the best sound you may want to run a radio with a preamp installed in the radio, If not, you will be able to see if you like the sound or not, but sure you can run them amp free. Thanks Kris
kris  Feb 08, 2019
A
You can but I would recommend a 100 watt RMS amplifier .. It will bring out the speakers performance :) They are very good speakers... My favorites..

Q
How does install work with having separate input for the woofer as well as the tweet?

These are amazing... so crisp and clean. Not sure how exactly to install because I had them installed on my Harley which has a Fairing and I left it up to the experts. I had the Focal 165AC set but blew one of them so I decided to move up to the K2 series and love them.

OUTPUTS FROM AMP TO CROSSOVER TO SPEAKER INPUTS
arthur  Dec 20, 2018
A
It's very easy. The kit comes with a crossover for each side that connects to the amp. The crossover has two connections that go to the speaker. One is for the woofer, the other for the tweeter. It's all clearly marked. You will need room for the crossover in your install.

I installed mine on a 2009 FLHTC Harley Davidson connected through the supplied crossovers into a Rockford fosgate amp. The sound is awesome, you are able to direct the tweeter a few degrees to achieve optimal performance. I don't know if this answers your question but there is a lot of vids on YouTube. For my set-up/budget this works well. Good luck, you cannot go wrong with any Focal set up.

Its been awhile since I installed mine but I think they were pre wired and very straightforward. I dont recall any extra wiring.
