Adjustable tweeter

The Integration processed aluminum inverted dome tweeter features a built-in phase plug and wave guide, which act together to increase the power of high-frequency notes and improve the stereo soundstage. You can also tilt the tweeter for better imaging in many vehicles. Integration speakers allow you to put Focal sound quality and construction into your vehicle without a lot of muss and fuss, so you can enjoy a dramatic jump in performance over your old speakers.

Focal is and always will be the best speaker money can buy. They're one of the few that are made in the US, making quality superior. For me, it came down to JL and Focal, I've had alpine's and blown them in months. I went with the Focal's backed with Dynamat and got the performance my truck needed.

Pros: No vibration, hits highs and lows, good RMS

Cons: Need Dynamat-it will vibrate the door without it.

Be patient

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Guided to these speakers by the Crutchfield rep (I intended to purchase another set of Infinity Reference). Excellent sale brought them into my price range, and I was very aware of this company's reputation in home audio. Packaging was a little basic, but the speakers seemed well-made. Paired with a new Kenwood receiver, they completely underwhelmed at first. They were certainly not bad, but I immediately regretted not sticking with the original Infinity plan. Seldom, with any kind of audio, have I noticed so obvious a break-in difference. Before you cast your own judgement, give them at least two weeks of moderate play. Very balanced with a luxurious midrange, especially with chamber or acoustic music. Anyone who really needs more bass will have already decided to get a sub (I look for accuracy over power); the upper range is also balanced, but someone who really needs to hear high-hats might want something a little more explicit. They are still improving. Excellent suggestion by Crutchfield

Pros: Very balanced, silky midrange, opening up more every day

Cons: Pronounced break-in period; perhaps the materials do not immediately impress more than other good speakers

NICE

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have two pairs in my truck replacing all factory door speakers installed with the Boom Mat speaker baffles . Initially, I ran them off a Pioneer AVH-X1500DVD head unit with the internal high-pass set at 120Hz. I wasn't expecting to get great mid-bass from them (even with the high-pass filter disabled) since my next phase involved a subwoofer. I hadn't owned a set of Focal speakers prior to this purchase, but I saw many competition vehicles utilizing their equipment. These sounded great with only the power provided by the Pioneer unit; I heard parts of the music I would normally only hear with headphones. Clarity is good with the only distortion entering at peak levels of volume (some of this is probably from clipping in the Pioneer's built-in amp). I recently purchased a RF Prime 50W x 2 amp to put to the front pair and leave the back pair powered by the Pioneer unit. I wouldn't say the amp was completely necessary after hearing it, but it did make a noticeable difference. Great product and would definitely buy them again in the future (maybe try the component set next).

Pros: Great clarity, reasonable price for the quality you get

Cons: Mid-bass isn't anything to brag about.

These are ok speakers, but was a little disappointed considering their cost. My Kappas are much better. After spending time tuning them they are much better, but seem to need a lot if power to drive them.

Pros: Great quality as far as build goes

Cons: Need lots of power to get the bass out of them

I purchased with a nav system. The nav system has so many inputs outputs I am not sure what all they do. I can say that the base is lacking. I have nothing to compare these speakers to. So I can not tell you if it is the speakers of the vav system.

Pros: Just speakers

Cons: Lacking base

Great speakers!

I installed these speakers in my 2002 ford Lightning along with the Focal powered subwoofer, the speakers sound great and had I known how great they sounded I probably could have gotten away without the subwoofer because the speakers and new head unit added plenty of bass in my single cab!

Pros: direct replacement for my truck and sound awesome!

Cons: none!

Not so hot, Focal has a great reputation. Unfortunately, this speaker does not live up to it. For the $$, Infinity's Kappa series is a better value.

Expected a little more from Focal.

Installed as rear fill in a 2012 Mazda 5. I tested them in 3 different configurations... 1) As a direct replacement. Using only the thin isolation ring that was included. Results: Bad. Lots of distortion and no bass. I attribute this to be Mazda's fault. The mounting location and conditions are far from ideal. Only a thin piece of sheet metal with nothing to isolate the back-wave. 2) + baffle (BoomMat). Results: Little better. still no bass but what little it does have is cleaner. 3) + baffle + poly fill (pillow stuffing). Results: Better yet. Again, no bass but cleaned up the sound a little more. Overall impressions - OK... While definitely better than stock, I was expecting a little better from Focal. The tweeter is a little bright and harsh. It also lacks a bottom end. The rotating tweeter is a nice but a tweeter level adjustment would have been more useful. Other setup notes... Powered by a Sony XAV-701HD head unit (17wpc/rms). Highpass crossover set to 50hz. Crutchfield reported that this would not fit my 2012 Mazda 5. However I can confirm that it does with about 15mm to spare.

Pros: better than stock

Cons: No bottom end Needs tweeter level adjustment

Features

Polyglass Cone: The woofer cone has a cellulose pulp base and is coated with a uniform deposit of hollow glass microballs. The addition of the Polyglass layer significantly increases the cone's rigidity without adding much weight. This combination takes advantage of the accuracy and neutrality of the hard outer surface, but maintains the superior damping characteristics of the cellulose pulp.

Surround: The butyl rubber surround is resistant to ultraviolet rays, temperature extremes, and humidity to add to the speaker's reliability and longevity.

Voice Coil: The voice coil is wound around a 1" diameter low-mass Kapton former, ensuring no coil deformation.

Inverted Dome Tweeter: The tweeter is an inverted aluminum dome, producing a broad sound stage. The tweeter rotates on its post, so it can be pointed toward the listener.
