Audiophile-grade engineering

Focal applies the same technology they use in their home audiophile-grade systems to their Integration line of car speakers. Their Integration IC 690 6"x9" speakers feature cones made from Polyglass, a material that combines the warm sound of cellulose with the strength of glass, so they play accurately with no added resonances.

Focal Integration Series IC 690 speakers

These Integration speakers offer excellent sound quality, while fitting in more vehicles.

Adjustable tweeter

The Integration processed-aluminum inverted dome tweeter features a built-in phase plug and wave guide, which act together to improve the dispersion of the high frequencies for a more effective stereo soundstage. You can also tilt the tweeter for better imaging in many vehicles. Integration speakers allow you to put Focal sound quality and construction into your vehicle without a lot of muss and fuss, so you can enjoy a dramatic jump in performance over your old speakers.

Product Highlights:

  • 2-way 6"x9" speakers (pair)

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers sound so much better than the stock speakers they replaced. Very clean and tight. I'm hearing things I never noticed before in music I've listened to many times. Very pleased.

Pros: Easy install with Crutchfield harness and instruction. Very good sound quality.

Cons: Pricey, but I think worth it.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these speakers about two weeks ago in my 98 camry. The overall look of the speaker is very simple, and the wire screen faceplates that are included with the speakers would look nice if they were used in installation. My install did not require these faceplates, but they look good. The speakers did not have any written installation instructions or component list aside from a small picture for a general speaker that did not include the components included with these speakers. With the speakers came a black metal screen faceplate that removed from its plastic housing, a black plastic ring that was the shape of the speaker (i'm assuming this is a spacer for installation, but I put it on top of my speaker with trim adhesive to protect the speaker housing from being crushed), mounting screws and clips, and a foam ring for between the speaker and the mounting surface. The rotating tweeters seem like a nice feature, but are cheaply constructed. One of the speakers I received had the tweeter hanging by its wires out of its housing. This popped right back in to place with no damage done. The speakers sound great, and perform well with highs and mids. The sound is crisp and clear, and acoustic tracks sound excellent as if there is someone playing guitar in my back seat. The bass is a little lacking in these speakers, but I have subwoofers so it wasnt a concern of mine. The quality does not diminish at high volumes either.

Pros: Crisp, clean, realistic sound. Consistent, excellent sound quality at all volumes. Do not crackle or waver with high volume.

Cons: Somewhat cheap construction on rotating tweeter housing. Lack of installation instructions/parts list.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers are decent...they didn't knock my socks off but they sounded way better than the factory installed. Only problem I had installing them was figuring out which was the + and - terminals on the old speakers for wiring on the new.

Pros: Decent highs...mids...bass is ok...will see what happens when I get an amplifier.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The clarity of the focal 6x9's, exceeded my expectations. I have been into car audio for 10+ years and have used many different brands, Focal by far has the total package when it comes to full range audio reproduction.

Pros: Nice shallow mount, fit nicely in factory door locations on my 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 crew cab.

Cons: None

Loud and Clear

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking for speakers for both the rear and front. I was not sure where to start but spoke to the Crutchfield folks about the rear 6X9's. They recommended these Focal's in which I had never heard of the name. The Tech guy said trust me you'll be happy with the sound out of these more audiophile geared speakers. Boy was he right as I have heard a lot of brands in the stores and they do not compare. These puppies rock and are loud and proud with no distortion. Since I have the EQ on my Pioneer 4500 I can adjust the sound to suit my taste. I have read some reviews about lacking some bass and I find this false once you tune them to your type of music. If you want killer bass by a sub. I'm a happy camper with these Focal's and smaller Infinities in the door. Once again the excellent team a Crutchfield knew what they were talking about. I was able to get these guys on sale too : )

Pros: Loud and crystal clear at a great price for the discerning ear.

Cons: None that I know of

Product Research

Polyglass Cone: The woofer cone has a cellulose pulp base and is coated with a uniform deposit of hollow glass microballs. The addition of the Polyglass layer significantly increases the cone's rigidity without adding much weight. This combination takes advantage of the accuracy and neutrality of the hard outer surface, but maintains the superior damping characteristics of the cellulose pulp.

Surround: The butyl rubber surround is resistant to ultraviolet rays, temperature extremes, and humidity to add to the speaker's reliability and longevity.

Voice Coil: The voice coil is wound around a 1" diameter low-mass Kapton former, ensuring no coil deformation.

Inverted Dome Tweeter: The tweeter is an inverted aluminum dome, producing a broad sound stage. The tweeter rotates on its post, so it can be pointed toward the listener.
