Stereo music from a single speaker

Just because there's room for only one speaker in that entrance foyer, hallway, or bathroom, doesn't mean you can't enjoy full, two-channel sound. The Focal Chorus IC 706 V ST in-ceiling stereo speaker is the perfect solution for filling smaller rooms and spaces with rich, beautiful music. It reproduces both channels of a stereo mix using a single in-ceiling design thanks to separate tweeters for each channel and a dual voice coil woofer. The IC 706 V ST is a great choice for listening to your tunes in the kitchen while preparing meals, or enjoying background music in the den while entertaining guests.

Advanced driver design for natural, high-definition sound

The IC 706 V ST boasts two of Focal's renowned 1" TNV aluminum/magnesium inverted dome tweeters. Inverting the dome optimizes the connection between the voice coil and the dome, maximizing efficiency and precision. Plus, the rotating tweeter design lets you direct the highs where you need them for better stereo imaging and more precise localization of sound.

The speakers' tight, responsive bass and dynamic midrange come courtesy of Focal's 6-1/2" Polyglass dual voice coil woofer. This driver is created by depositing a layer of hollow silica glass microbeads over a layer of cellulose pulp. This unique material combines the warm sound of cellulose fiber with the incredible strength of glass, for a stiff-yet-lightweight cone that responds rapidly with extremely low resonance. A butyl rubber surround helps stabilize cone movement and provides excellent long-term reliability. Tying the drivers together is Focal's OPC (Optimum Phase Crossover) crossover network for precise, natural, and stable imaging and soundstaging.

Built in-house for better quality and value

The drivers in every Chorus speaker are built in-house at their facilities in Saint-Etienne, France. Why is that important? Because it gives Focal complete control over every aspect of design, manufacture, and quality control — resulting a consistently superior, high-value product.

In-Ceiling Stereo Loudspeaker: The Focal Chorus IC 706 V ST in-ceiling loudspeaker is designed to be used as a single stereo speaker in a distributed audio system. It features dual 1" inverted-dome tweeters, a 6.5" polyglass woofer, optimum phase crossover, and a stereo input.

Adjustable Inverted Dome Tweeter: The Focal Chorus IC 706 V ST features a single 1" TNA inverted-dome tweeter made of aluminum and magnesium alloy. The inverted-dome technology allows optimal energy transfer and wide dispersion. The aluminum/magnesium makeup guarantees exception performance in terms of stiffness and damping, thus ensuring a subtle blend of softness and dynamics. You can angle and swivel the tweeter to aim the high frequencies at your listening area. You can also adjust the level of the tweeter to -3dB, 0dB, or +3dB.

Polyglass Cone Woofer: The Focal Chorus IC 706 V ST features one 6.5" polyglass woofer. The Polyglass cone woofer has been a Focal tradition for the last 30 years. This cellulose fiber cone woofer offers renowned lightness and damping characteristics. But its Focal's special surface treatment of silica micro-balls which gives the woofer a huge increase in rigidity for a negligible increase in mass. The definition and dynamic capacity of this cone, when combined with a very powerful magnet, generate a very fine reproduction, with an exceptionally rich midrange/midbass.

Optimum Phase Crossover: The Focal Chorus IC 706 V ST in-ceiling loudspeaker utilizes an Optimum Phase Crossover (OPC) to seamlessly blend the audio output of the tweeter and midrange/midbass driver for a precise, natural, and stable soundstage and image.

Wall Boost Circuitry: To reduce the "wall effect" inherent to any built-in speaker, Focal has developed a wall boost equalization circuit which corrects this phenomenon and makes it easier to position your speaker to suit your preference.

ABS Chassis w/ Aluminum Grille: The Focal Chorus IC 706 V ST in-ceiling speaker features an ABS chassis and aluminum grille. The speaker is only available in a white finish. However, the frame and grille can be painted to match your wall. A plastic paint mask is included to protect the speaker components from being painted as well.

Stereo Input: The Chorus IW 706 V ST is fitted with a pair of  stereo spring post terminals that will attach your left- and right-channel speaker wires. The spring post terminals will accept bare wire (up to 10AWG), pin connectors, and banana plugs (single/dual). The spring posts are color-coded for easy identification between positive (red) and negative (black).

Mounting Options: The Focal Chorus IC 706 V ST can be mounted in-ceiling using the four integrated rotating clamps. An installation template is supplied to help you cut your hole. The in-ceiling speaker has an overall measurement of 9.9375" in diameter x 3.9375" in depth. It requires a cut-out of 8.6875" in diameter and a mounting depth of 3.6875" behind the wall surface. The speaker only protrudes 0.1875" from the wall. Focal's KITMOIC706V new-construction bracket (091ICIK706, sold separately) can be used to simplify installation in new construction.
