Focal applies the same technology they use in their studio and audiophile-grade home systems to their Integration line of car speakers. The Integration IS 130 component system features 5-1/4" woofer cones made from Polyglass, a material that combines the warm sound of cellulose with the strength of glass, for a woofer that plays accurately with no added resonances.

Adjustable tweeter
The separate Integration processed aluminum inverted dome tweeter features a built-in phase plug and wave guide, which act together to increase the power of high-frequency notes and improve the stereo soundstage. You can also tilt the tweeter for better imaging in many vehicles.

Built-in crossover networks
The crossover networks are built-in, so you don't have those extra boxes to install. Integration speakers allow you to put Focal sound quality and construction into your vehicle, so you can enjoy a dramatic jump in performance over your old speakers.

Why install component speakers?

A component speaker system gives you the best possible performance from your car audio system. A system consists of separate woofers, tweeters, and crossovers, each designed to cover one specific range of frequencies. As separate components, the woofer can move freely to deliver more powerful performance, while the tweeter can be custom-mounted in a better spot up closer to your ears, revealing a whole new world of detail. Separate crossovers are far superior to the simple filters wired into full-range speakers, so the components work together for smoother, more focused sound.

Woofer

Polyglass Cone: The woofer cone has a cellulose pulp base and is coated with a uniform deposit of hollow glass microballs. The addition of the Polyglass layer significantly increases the cone's rigidity without adding much weight. This combination takes advantage of the accuracy and neutrality of the hard outer surface, but maintains the superior damping characteristics of the cellulose pulp.

Surround: The butyl rubber surround is resistant to ultraviolet rays, temperature extremes, and humidity to add to the speaker's reliability and longevity.

Phase Plug: The bullet-shaped phase plug in the center of the woofer ensures a smooth, flat off-axis frequency response by preventing the high frequency sound waves emanating from one side of the cone from interfering with sound waves from the other side of the cone.

Tweeter

Inverted Dome Tweeter: The tweeter is an inverted aluminum dome, producing a broad sound stage. The tweeter has a Neodymium magnet to provide a powerful magnetic field for the voice coil, while still maintaining the tweeter's compact dimensions.

Mounting Options: The tweeters can be surface mounted and include two types of surface mount housings, one low profile and one angled:

Flush Mount Low Profile Surface Mount Angled Surface Mount
Mounting Height 0.292" 0.908" 1.935"
Mounting Depth 0.511" 0.885" (screw depth) 0.8" (screw depth)
Frame Diameter 1.886" N/A N/A
Cutout Diameter 1.677" N/A N/A
Width N/A 1.887" 1.892"
Surface Depth N/A 1.887" 2.865"

Crossover

Crossovers: Each woofer and each tweeter has an integrated 6 dB/octave crossover. Because the woofer and tweeter crossovers are separate, the system can be bi-amped.

Note: No crossover point frequency specifications are provided.

Good, but not deep

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I expect that the 6.5/6.75 inch would make a greater difference in midbass extention. The bass is weak, but that might be dealt with by a good subwoofer -- that is my next step.

Way better than I expected!

I bought these thinking that they were entry level and I would just be "satisfied" with these....Boy was I wrong! The sound quality was way better than I expected, this was a great purchase

Pros: Great speakers for the price!

Cons: None yet

Strong mid-tones with a clear and defined sound quality. I run these and a subwoofer through a Kenwood amp and it sounds fantastic!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I couldn't take what was delivered to my ears any more from the "stock 4, 5 1/4 inch speakers with separate tweeters " in my 2000 Freightliner anymore ! An avid Alpine system supporter for years, a very good friend suggested I try this Focal brand, he looked at what I had we talked and he gave me the ID for the 2 pair of Focal's to install. I found them @ Crutchfield for a better than market price, got them, installed them, no sub or amp yet installed, but what a wonderful, clear, crisp sound. I can listen @ considerably less volume than before and truly enjoy what I hear. Thank You Crutchfield

Need an amp and some precise tuning

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was running these off my stock HU which puts out 45w per channel (not sure if that is RMS or Max). They were quieter and less responsive than the 1oz magnet OEM panasonic Home speakers that my car came with. I was under the impression that the integration line were made to slip in the place of high end OEM speakers. They sounded more or less terible. Very distorted below 100Hz Tweets barely audible. Swapped for the JL Audio TR050-CT Tweeters and 5.5" kappa 2-ways. The JL tweets were much clearer and louder (at 8ohms none the less) and the kappas were much louder and sounded better at low Hz. Perhaps the kappas do better being 2ohm and having a built in crossover. I think these could sound good if you installed an amp, crossed them over at 80-100HZ and had the proper components in the rear to fill in the midbass. But bypassing my factory crossover, wiring, buying another amp, etc. was just not an option for me. I am returning these.

Pros: Nothing really. The tweeter mounts would be pretty cool if they fit my application

Cons: I put these in my 2007 accord v6-6speed that has the premium 180w Alpine Navigation. They were quieter than OEM and distorted in the low midrange. I have never put in a pair of aftermarkets that sound worse than OEM until now. Time for Kappa's which are proven in my book.
