Focal ISC 690 6X9" Coaxial 2 way Speakers

You can aim the tweeter to improve high-frequency dispersion in many vehicles.

Audiophile-grade engineering

Focal applies the same technology they use in their home audiophile-grade systems to their Integration line of car speakers. Their Integration ISC 690 6"x9" speakers feature cones made from Polyglass, a material that combines the warm sound of cellulose with the strength of glass, so they play accurately with no added resonances.

Adjustable tweeter

The Integration processed-aluminum inverted dome tweeter features a built-in phase plug and wave guide, which act together to improve the dispersion of the high frequencies for a more effective stereo soundstage. You can also tilt the tweeter for better imaging in many vehicles.

Integration speakers allow you to put Focal sound quality and construction into your vehicle without a lot of muss and fuss, so you can enjoy a dramatic jump in performance over your old speakers. Grilles are included.

Product Highlights:

  • 2-way 6"x9" speakers (pair)

2014 Ram 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers for the rear door positions in my 2014 Ram 1500 quad mainly based on the reviews, and think it was a good decision overall.

Pros: well packaged, reasonably priced for what you get, clear highs, produce some bass, and were easy to install.

Cons: none

I'm happy with these speakers. They sound MUCH better than the Sony speakers I replaced, and most importantly, I can turn them up ALL THE WAY and they don't distort!

Pros: Excellent sound at high volume; very clear

Cons: A little thicker than Sony

2013 Dodge Challenger
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Speakers sound great even with the stock head unit and no amp installed yet. Very please with my Focals, they are out performing the JLs I bought for the rear deck easily.

Pros: Terrific sound, excellent bass and highs, ability to focus the tweeter (rotate the direction it is aimed at)

Cons: con is not with the speaker, Crutchfield said these would fit my Challenger with no mod. But I had to cut part of the original speaker bracket to clear the frame on these.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These were an upgrade from the factory speakers of my Honda Accord. I have a Pioneer MOSFET receiver @ 22 watts/channel RMS. I listen to a variety of music and talk radio also, so I tend to keep the EQ flat. I thought my stock speakers were pretty good but I wanted more detail out of the listening experience. The Focals gave me that, and not just in the way I expected. Where the stock speakers made everything sound pretty good, the Focals exposed deficiencies in the source recordings. Now, it's not just about the music, but it's also about the quality of the recording.

My first impression with these speakers is they are very punchy, especially when there is a snare drum beating. In the beginning, they seemed to lack low end bass, but now I think it's just the quality of the recordings I was listening to. These characteristics are especially apparent on the 70's music channel from SiriusXM.

I've found that well-produced CDs showcase what the Focals are capable of in the bass department, and I am very satisfied with them. I ordered a subwoofer system to provide more low end support for those recordings that need a little help and to compensate for road noise.

The Crutchfield website didn't show me these speakers with my vehicle selected. I used the undermount spacers that came with them as lift rings, they are a little larger than a quarter inch in height. I top mounted the speakers but I don't use the supplied grills, I use the factory Honda ones.

Pros: Budget audiophile features

Cons: Useless installation pamphlet

2009 Dodge Charger
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great speakers with some awesome bass. I currently have then paired with an Alpine HD149BT and everyone thinks I have a small sub. Truth is, there's no amp, no sub. I love these speakers. Easy installation due to the shallow depth too.

Cons: Crystal clear with great bass and midrange.

2004 Chrysler Sebring
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

In 2011, I installed a pair of Clarion SRQ6932R speakers I bought from another retailer into the back of my 2004 Sebring convertible and thought that they sounded pretty good. This year, I checked out several sites to find a better speaker. I'm driving these with a 60Wx4 JVC amplifier I installed in 2012 along with a JVC head unit I purchased from Crutchfield. However, after installing the Focal ISC 690's I was wrong. These speakers have not only amazing bass reproduction but also a very well balanced and clear high and mid-range. I believe that the high range is due to the ability to modify the focus of the tweeters. These speakers actually took up less room than the Clarion's. I have to say that this amazed me considering the amount and quality of sound produced by the speakers. Sadly, I am going to have to replace my Pioneer TS-G971M front speakers as the Focal's out produce them badly and the sound image is biased to the back. So, the good is I love the Focal's and the bad is I have to buy more Focal's? I'm thinking I'm better off with another set for the front!

Pros: Awesome sound reproduction. Easy installation. Great for my amp.

Cons: I'd say price but you get what you pay for?

Polyglass Cone: The woofer cone has a cellulose pulp base and is coated with a uniform deposit of hollow glass microballs. The addition of the Polyglass layer significantly increases the cone's rigidity without adding much weight. This combination takes advantage of the accuracy and neutrality of the hard outer surface, but maintains the superior damping characteristics of the cellulose pulp.

Surround: The butyl rubber surround is resistant to ultraviolet rays, temperature extremes, and humidity to add to the speaker's reliability and longevity.

Voice Coil: The voice coil is wound around a 1" diameter low-mass Kapton former, ensuring no coil deformation.

Inverted Dome Tweeter: The tweeter is an inverted aluminum dome, producing a broad sound stage. The tweeter is angled and rotates on its post, so it can be pointed toward the listeners.
