About the Focal Integration ISS 570

John Pollard

Audiophile-grade engineering

Focal applies the same technology they use in their studio and audiophile-grade home systems to their Integration line of car speakers. The Integration ISS 570 component system includes 5"x7" woofers with cones made from Polyglass, a material that combines the warm sound of cellulose with the strength of glass, so they'll play accurately with no added resonances.

Focal Integration ISS 570 5" x 7" component speaker system

You can use this angled tweeter mount to improve high-frequency dispersion in problem vehicles.

Adjustable tweeter

The separate Integration processed aluminum inverted dome tweeter features a built-in phase plug and wave guide, which act together to increase the power of high-frequency notes and improve the stereo soundstage. Focal includes a low-profile surface mount and an angled mount so you can set up the tweeter for the best possible imaging in your vehicle.

Built-in crossover networks

The crossover networks are built-in, so you don't have those extra boxes to install. Low-profile Integration speakers allow you to put Focal sound quality and construction into your vehicle, so you can enjoy a dramatic jump in performance over your old speakers.

Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.

Grilles are not included; the factory grilles should be suitable for most applications.

Woofer

Polyglass Cone: The woofer cone has a cellulose pulp base and is coated with a uniform deposit of hollow glass microballs. The addition of the Polyglass layer significantly increases the cone's rigidity without adding much weight. This combination takes advantage of the accuracy and neutrality of the hard outer surface, but maintains the superior damping characteristics of the cellulose pulp.

Surround: The butyl rubber surround is resistant to ultraviolet rays, temperature extremes, and humidity to add to the speaker's reliability and longevity.

Phase Plug: The bullet-shaped phase plug in the center of the woofer ensures a smooth, flat off-axis frequency response by preventing the high frequency sound waves emanating from one side of the cone from interfering with sound waves from the other side of the cone.

Voice Coil: The voice coil is wound around a 1" diameter low-mass Kapton former, ensuring no coil deformation.

Mounting Applications: Focal describes this speaker as a 5x7, but it also fits many 6x8 applications. Please check the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector to confirm fit.

Crossovers: The included 7" woofer wires have integrated crossovers. The woofer ends of the wires have female quick-slides that easily connect to the woofer terminals.

Tweeter

Inverted Dome Tweeter: The tweeter is an inverted aluminum dome, producing a broad sound stage. The tweeter has a Neodymium magnet to provide a powerful magnetic field for the voice coil, while still maintaining the tweeter's compact dimensions.

Mounting Options: The tweeters include two types of surface mount housings, one low profile and one angled:

Flush Mount Low Profile Surface Mount Angled Surface Mount
Mounting Height 0.3" 0.894" 1.933"
Mounting Depth 0.55" 0.875" (screw depth) 0.875" (screw depth)
Frame Diameter 1.871" 1.88" N/A
Cutout Diameter 1.67" N/A N/A
Width N/A N/A 1.895"
Surface Depth N/A N/A 2.839"

Crossovers: The included 19" tweeter wires have integrated crossovers. The tweeter ends of the wires have quick-slide terminals that easily connect to the wires soldered to the tweeters. The input end of each wire has three leads, a negative and two positives. The positive leads are labeled Car and Display, with a lower output level from the Car lead (useful because the placement of the woofer in a typical car installation requires the tweeter output be lowered to maintain a balanced sound).

Q
What is the RMS of each speaker? I read on other sites the tweeter is 15rms and the woofer is 60rms. Is this true?? I had anticipated buying an amp that would push 75rms x 4 assuming 60rms per speaker. Thank you for your help

Q
Is it possible to flush mount the tweeters for these?
kevan c  Jun 09, 2016

A
Yes. The tweeters can be flush mounted; that is, mounted without the tweeter housings.
thomas  Jun 14, 2016

Kevan, I'm not sure about this model, but I have seen Focals flush mounted. Flush mount bracket does not come in this kit, but you might be able to get it from Focal separately.

Yes I used my existing factory tweeter mounts. I had to remove the outer casing and trim the hole in my factory panel a little and got s real nice snug fit. I have a 2011 f150. Love the speakers by the way! Good luck hope this helps

Q
Hi, to those who already bought the focal iss570 component speakers, I just bought a pair and had a quick install question- I assume that the in-line crossover/filters are "one-way" ....that is, the tweeter/woofer MUST go on one particular side of the in-line crossovers (whether that is upstream or downstream, etc), and your amp or stereo MUST go the other end of the crossover wires. I wanted to verify, with regards to the wires that have "crossovers" in them- for *both* the woofer and tweeter, should the side of wire with the exposed, tinned "plain old wire" be pointing towards the amplifier/stereo? And should the end of the wire with little connector/clip/grabby-pincher things be pointed towards the tweeter/woofer respectively? Thanks so much!

That's the way I installed them. They work great. I did not try it the other way.

A
That is correct. Tinned wire makes it easier to solder or crimp. Soldered mine. Driving mine with MTX amp 60 watts rms. Great sound without the cross over headache.

hey Greg, As long as you don't wire the woofer crossover to the tweeter, or the tweeter crossover to the woofer, the direction doesn't matter. I took the filters apart to examine and modify them. The woofer filter is a single inductor, and the tweeter is a capacitor in series with a single resistor. In fact, I replaced the little tiny capacitors in the tweeter filters with more expensive ones, and I'm pretty sure I put them back together with one of them the way it came and the other reversed in reference to the side of the circuit the resistor was on. I doesn't really change anything. Most capacitors, inductors, and resistors are +/- interchangeable. You also get the same electrical result if you have a series circuit with a capacitor on the + side and a resistor on the - side, or a resistor on the + side and a capacitor on the - side. It's all the same! Enjoy!

If memory serves me, the connectors are designed to clip directly to the speaker terminals.
