Bigger and sweeter sound
If you're looking for more than just replacement speakers, Focal's Performance Series speakers let the music speak for itself, providing transparent reproduction for all your recordings and listening pleasures. Focal's PC 710 7"x10" speakers use a lightweight, exceptionally rigid Polyglass cone in a sturdy aluminum frame to create accurate, richly-textured sound, whether played loud or soft.
These speaker are larger than conventional 6"x9" speakers, so they'll handle more power and deliver a little deeper bass. Focal includes spacers that allow installation in many 6"x9" locations, or you can use these speakers for a custom installation.
The double inverted tweeter improves the high frequency dispersion in many vehicles.
Focal brought some of their high-fidelity technology out of the studio and into your car with the Performance inverted dome tweeters. This technology results in wider dispersion and a higher frequency response, so you'll notice greater detail in the instruments and voices. Each tweeter features an adjustable treble switch, which lets you choose your high frequency preference to a "flat" or "Hi treble" setting when you install the speakers.
Technology that sounds like magic
Focal applies molten glass microballs onto cellulose pulp to create their Polyglass cones, combining the crisp response of the rigid glass layer with the warm sound of a paper cone. The aluminum tweeter has been similarly treated with a softer, more easily damped material that makes the treble distinct without sounding harsh. You can expect superior performance from the Performance PC 710 speakers, whether you power them with a quality outboard amp or your car stereo.
Installation Note: These speakers will not fit into the 6"x9" openings in many vehicles because of their extra-large frames. Most installations will require modifications to your vehicle. Please enter your vehicle information to see if these speakers will fit.

Why replace your car's original speakers?
The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

So far superb!

I was unable to install these myself, not having any cutting tools took them to a local custom shop. They were amazed at these speakers, asked me many questions. At this time they are hooked up to the stock Ford head unit which uses them as subs only. Next phase is to install a proper head unit (Pioneer Stage 4 or 3) to run them full range. Even though I have less 'power' (stock deck speakers were 2 ohm) the pitch definition is a world apart from the el cheepo stock philco subs (and I use that term losely). I listen to a mix of NIN, Metalica, Motorhead, late romantic period french organ music and Wagnerian Opera. Can hardly wait until I change and am able to run them full range! I recommend staying away from the cheaper Focal lines. Step up and purchase the upper lines, you'll have no regrets.
Pros: Worth every penny, much better low frequency overtone definition. Before there was just a fat bloated sound with no ability to make out specific pedal notes or stop changes. Now there is more than a hint. The only limiting factor is the front end. And that is only temporary.
Cons: Very large, not an easy install, expensive and no longer made/imported.

Installed new 7x10 focal in my 79 Trans am. Head unit is Pioneer -80 PRS powered by Alpine PDX-F4 Rated @ 120 wats per chanel. currently using only one chanel to drive. so far these speakers hit pretty hard with clean mids and highs. these have the capability to bi amp woofer from the mids and highs . I do plan on bi amping these. I have not had to much time to tweek these in as well as they could be because everything is new an requires tuning from each of the 3 components. I will not need to install sub with these. I did need to cut the rear deck to accept The speakers as i new i would.
Pros: Very attractive looking speaker. No need for a sub these hit hard. looking forward to pusing them to there full potential.
Cons: None so far

Polyglass Cone: The woofer cone has a cellulose pulp base and is coated with a uniform deposit of hollow glass microballs. The addition of the Polyglass layer significantly increases the cone's rigidity without adding much weight. This combination takes advantage of the accuracy and neutrality of the hard outer surface, but maintains the superior damping characteristics of the cellulose pulp.
Surround: The butyl rubber surround is resistant to ultraviolet rays, temperature extremes, and humidity to add to the speaker's reliability and longevity.
Voice Coil: The voice coil is wound around a 1.2" diameter low-mass Kapton former, ensuring no coil deformation.
Dual Inverted Dome Tweeters: The two tweeters are inverted aluminum domes, producing a broad sound stage. The tweeter structure is angled, so it can be pointed toward the listener. A switch allows you to change the tweeter output level (Flat or Hi Treble).
Bi-amp: The wire terminals will accept bi-amp inputs, so you can power the woofer and tweeters separately.
Mounting: Without an adapter, the PC 710 is a 7x10 speaker (not a standard size). Adapters are included to convert to a 6x9 bolt pattern and cutout, so it will fit some factory applications. Keep in mind it has a very large frame, that most factory grilles won't fit over. (It fits just over 5% of factory 6x9 locations.)
