About the Focal PS 130 V
Focal never rests
Focal never rests
Are you looking for something more than just replacement speakers? You may want to consider Focal's Performance Series. The PS 130 V 5-1/4" component system is a fine example of Focal's obsession with exceptional sound — these Performance Series speakers feature a lightweight, exceptionally rigid Polyglass cone in a sturdy frame to create accurate, richly-textured sound, whether played loud or soft.
Advanced tweeter
Focal brought some of their high-fidelity technology out of the studio and into your car. The Performance Series tweeter features inverted dome technology that offers wider dispersion and a higher frequency response, so you'll notice greater detail in the instruments and voices. Each tweeter features a built-in phase plug and wave guide, which act together to increase the power of high-frequency notes and improve the stereo soundstage.
Cool crossover network
Superior fidelity used to involve a bulky crossover network that was hard to install. Focal designed this Performance crossover network as two separate pieces, which come joined together out of the box. If space is an issue in your vehicle, you can take them apart, then mount the high-pass crossover near the tweeter and the low-pass near the woofer, instead of having to mount one big crossover. You can also adjust the tweeter level and crossover point.
Technology that sounds like magic
Focal applies molten glass microballs onto cellulose pulp to create their Polyglass cones, combining the crisp response of the rigid glass layer with the warm sound of a paper cone. The aluminum tweeter has been similarly treated with a softer, more easily damped material that makes the treble distinct without sounding harsh. You can expect superior performance from these component speakers, whether you power them with a quality outboard amp or your car stereo.
Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.

Product Research
Woofer
Polyglass Cone: The woofer cone has a cellulose pulp base and is coated with a uniform deposit of hollow glass microballs. The addition of the Polyglass layer significantly increases the cone's rigidity without adding much weight. This combination takes advantage of the accuracy and neutrality of the hard outer surface, but maintains the superior damping characteristics of the cellulose pulp.
Surround: The rubber surround is resistant to ultraviolet rays, temperature extremes, and humidity to add to the speaker's reliability and longevity.
Phase Plug: The bullet-shaped phase plug in the center of the woofer ensures a smooth, flat off-axis frequency response by preventing the high frequency sound waves emanating from one side of the cone from interfering with sound waves from the other side of the cone.
Aluminum Basket: The woofer features a non-magnetic cast aluminum basket.
Tweeter
Inverted Dome Tweeter: The tweeter is an inverted aluminum dome, producing a broad sound stage. The tweeter has a Neodymium magnet to provide a powerful magnetic field for the voice coil, while still maintaining the tweeter's compact dimensions.
Mounting Options: The tweeters include two types of surface mount housings, one low profile and one angled. When flush mounted, the tweeters are pressure fit into the opening, so the cutout diameter is very important:
Flush Mount | Low Profile Surface Mount | Angled Surface Mount | |
---|---|---|---|
Mounting Height | 0.282" | 0.9" | 1.945" |
Mounting Depth | 0.542" | 0.875" (screw depth) | 0.3" (screw depth) |

Cutout Diameter | 1.682" | N/A | N/A |
Width | N/A | 1.895" | 1.920" |
Surface Depth | N/A | 1.895" | 2.875" |
Crossover
Crossovers: Individual crossovers are included for each woofer and each tweeter. The crossovers can be mounted separately, docked in pairs, or all four crossovers docked together and mounted as one unit. The crossover inputs and outputs are screw terminals and will accept bare wire or spade connectors up to 0.3" wide. Because the woofer and tweeter crossovers are separate, and have separate inputs, the system can be bi-amped. The woofer crossover point is 3.5 kHz, all the crossover slopes are 6 dB/octave, and the tweeter crossovers offer two adjustments:
- Tweeter Attenuation: set the tweeter output to -6dB, -3dB, or 0dB (no attenuation)
- Tweeter Crossover Point: the tweeter crossovers also offer three crossover point options; 4 kHz, 4.5 kHz, and 5 kHz
Crossover Dimensions:
- Length: 4"
- Height: 1-1/4"
- Width:
- Individual: 2"
- Pair: 4"
- All four: 8"
