Add some smooth highs

Focal's TiS 1.5 tweeters use the same inverted dome design developed for their fantastic component speaker systems, delivering a rich and smooth high-frequency upgrade to your car's audio system. Paired with built-in crossovers, these stiff aluminum tweeters provide a naturally detailed sound to improve the soundstage in your vehicle. If you're not looking to change your entire speaker array, these TiS 1.5 tweeters are a great way to open up the sound and add some high-frequency excitement.

Mount them your way

You can surface- or flush-mount the speakers in your car with the included hardware. For the surface-mount option, Focal included both low-profile and angled tweeter housings depending on the shape of your dash or doors. In some cases, these tweeters may fit in the factory tweeter locations, so check the "Details" section for detailed dimensions.

Installation note: Installing tweeters can require modifications to your vehicle. These Focal tweeters are pressure-fit to the surface- and flush-mount housings, so the cutout diameter dimension is very important.

Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install these tweeters in many factory locations.

Product Highlights:

  • 1-1/2" aluminum inverted dome tweeters (pair)
  • flush- and surface-mount hardware included
  • built-in high-pass filters included (6 dB/octave)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I can't decide if mine are defective or just crap. The noises that come out are fuzzy, with no definition, and do nothing to improve the overall sound. I could have bought $10 tweeters and gotten better results. I've always been able to rely on Crutchfield in the past, so this is really the only negative review I've given.

Pros: Small, with adaptable mounting pod.

Cons: Sound like someone crinkling paper.

Have had for three weeks and am debating returning them. I are not handling as well as I expected after seeing the other reviews.

Cons: The left channel cracks slightly with high frequencies.

Drastic Improvement

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these to replace component JBL aftermarket GTO tweeters that were very fatiguing to listen to. Since they came with a crossover built in I just wired to the source. Placed them in the original A pillar factory position. Just had to use a Dremel tool to enlarge the mounting holes. The sound difference was remarkable. Very crisp highs. A significant improvement from what I had.

Pros: Easy installation. Crisp, clear highs easy on the ears. Quality sound. Well worth it.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced the factory tweeters in a 2012 Subaru Outback with these. They are a great improvement in clarity and detail. I also have replaced the other speakers, head unit, and added JL subwoofer and amp. I ran the Auto EQ from my Pioneer head unit and the complete package is well-balanced, clear, and full.

Pros: Great detail and clarity.

Cons: May not balance optimally with other speakers without some EQ help.

My first Focals

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers were installed as a 3rd set of tweeters in the C-pillars of my 2014 Ford Focus SE Hatchback. They are smooth and handle the power well. I am so happy with these that I will begin to replace all the speakers in my car with the Focal brand name. Also my amplifiers (2 of them) also will be changed out to Focal in the near future.

Pros: Smooth and powerful and have a dual mounting system for any need you might have.

Cons: None whatsoever!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I consider myself an audiophile and i got just what I expected out of a focal product.they produce absolute clarity in the high frequencies and belt them out using just radio power. This is my third set of focal speakers I've bought, focal access 5 1/4 coxails in my truck all around. I'm planning on adding everything else(besides sub's) focal plus an amp for the mids and these little guys in my car. A little pricy but if you want clarity spend the money once and you won't have to again when your unhappy with a lesser product

Pros: Clarity.mounting options. Look sleek in the pods

Cons: Price but its only money right?

Extremely bright

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Added in parallel to a pair of foggy sounding focal 706 home speakers with a peachtree amp and cd player via coax. Very bright, sharp and crystal clear crossovers allow only the highest frequencies. Cymbals sound real, not the usual psssh sound of lesser tweeters. A bit power hungry and need to attenuate the focal 706s as they drown out the tweeters.

Pros: Brilliant high frequencies, no hiss.

Cons: power hungry

Simply amazing

2009 Pontiac G8
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

firstly I have wanted a full focal system since the late 90's. I have always leaned to JL audio and Alpine. NOT NO MORE. the tweters from focal are amazing in detail, clarity, and overall performance. I have all focal access speakers, which contain all coaxils,, 6.75 for two sets of doors and 2 8" coxials access also,, these tweeters compliment them perfectly. I love the sleek look and moutning options. there was no need for speaker pods for these as the ones included blended with my 09 G8 perfectly..

Pros: cost. sound quality easy of use awesome apperance

Cons: if I were to list a "CON" of these tweeters I would be lieing

Customer Q&A

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

I chose this tweeter because I am currently running all Focal speakers in my 2015 GMC Sierra Truck. Overall, the TiS 1.5 tweeters sound amazing are a full of energy. Sometimes, they may seem over powering (fatiguing) but they do sound great. [ Myles  Jan 27, 2016 ]
Good reviews on sound! [ Frank  Jan 12, 2016 ]

1 question already asked

These speakers are crossed at 6K. Actual response to 25K [ Michael  Feb 04, 2016 ]
6000 is the lowest frequency they are designed to play. Everything lower then 6k will be picked up by your main speakers. They do have built in crossover on the speaker leads. I'm powering them straight off my kenwood dnn992. They rock!! Keep within focals recommended power. And you'll be very pleasantly surprised [ Randall  Feb 04, 2016 ]
